I want a Brabant, the Belgian Draft Horse, just like this wonderful gorgeous and amazing looking Brabant. Huge, heaviest, super color. He needs lots of love. I see that he likes to greet people. Lovely character.
The horse has clearly never been taught how to lunge properly before . The man should be using his voice to encourage the horse , not constantly flicking a whip at him ! Also it is not a percheron , it is a ardennes .
@20mrcasper no i think the horse know s how to be on the lounge. the person is afraid of the horse. but im not saying ur wrong tho. im just putting it out there 8)
@LifeIsDeceiving most awesome comment i've seen so far! but you're right. he's lucky the stud has enough ground manners not to stomp on him though it think it would teach that guy a lesson.
@LoveHorseDust no kidding. you need to have a strong upper hand with a general horse but when it comes to drafts you not only need a general upper hand but a strong body and state of mind. so the horse knows you're the boss and doesn't trample you.
@mySYNZnotmytradgidy ~ Yes I do know this. I have trained horses for 23yrs & a good handful of drafts, too. The man is clearly afraid of him. That is why you do ground training when the horse is a foal.
@zakj888 Well the video does prove otherwise. I'm not sure about afraid, but that's not the proper way to lunge a horse. I wouldn't be surprised if he's had a few broken fingers with that rope work..

he isnt afraid of the horse. he is making the best use of a pen that is too small for a proper lunging.

the man is getting more of a workout than the horse! That horse clearly "owns" that man and he's lucky that stud is a good boy

Does all this hair in the horses eyes bother him????
He seems to try and clear his field of vision ,but has no luck!!!

@stuballs42
They need it to cover eyes from sun rays, much like some dog breeds.

He isn't percheron! That's belgian draft horse (belgisch trekpaard).
Teusek 3 years ago
You mean Ardennez?
Sorvos 2 years ago
No, Ardennes are similar to Belgians but Belgians are bigger and heavier than Ardennes which have Belgians in pedigree.
Teusek 2 years ago
The only Belgian Draft Horses that I know are Ardennez and Brabant. So, you are saying that this is another Belgian breed?
Sorvos 2 years ago
Belgian Draft Horses and Brabants are the same breed.
Teusek 2 years ago
So this is a Brabant? I don't think so.
Sorvos 2 years ago
Yes, but he's not so good like most of brabants. The best brabants are in Belgium, and worse horses are exported to the other countries.
