The biggest problem that people have with Robert Fisk is that he consistently tells the truth. In the context of the Middle East and particularly Israel this is simply unforgivable.

A few years ago, two parents went out for dinner. Robert Fisk thinks the next American President should be someone with military experience.
He clearly endorses John McCain in an earlier interview with Riz Khan.
Do you really think Robert Fisk is a pacifist?
At times he would support the idea of a just war.
He is very proud of the fact that his mother, during WW2, spent her time repairing spitfires.

Robert Fisk clearly states that war is a "total faliure of the human spirit" and this statement permeates all of his work in one way or another.
Therefore he also believes that it is better to have a US leader who has seen the real death and suffering of war, rather than one who has only seen the Hollywood version of it.
And regarding his mother, I would have been damn proud to have had a mum like that - and should Britain not have been allowed to defend itself against Hitler's armies?

Should Robert Fisk be proud of his Mum for repairing spitfires in WW2. Absolutely. Robert Fisk has described himself as opposed to the use of all military force. This contradicts his support for his Mum. If he is anti-Hitler why not be also anti-Saddam Hussein too?

What makes you believe he is pro Saddam ? If you read his book properly you would know how anti Saddam he is. It's funny that you send people messages with quotes from his books that you have taken out of context. And it makes you look like a fool.
About his mother, If you were listening you would know he was responding to a letter which claimed his mother was the daughter of Adolf Eichmann, in which he replied "my mother was fixing damaged spitfires during the war."

@trollfinger If he was anti-Saddam Hussein why did he not support the overthrow of his regime? The American-led invasion was the only way to do this.

@trollfinger Robert Fisk has stated that he is a pacifist. That does not square well with the statement that he should be proud of his mother’s role repairing Spitfires in WW2.
Perhaps he should say he is proud of his mother AND those who overthrew Saddam Hussein.

No, because he like many others didn't agree that the Iraq war was legitimate. Saddam wasn't Hitler. And I don't think his mothers role in WW2 was nothing more than a response to a stupid comment. He talks about his father war, but does he seem to agree with that ?
You look Fisk in a fiercely critical way, which is fine. But don't try and make him out to be a Saddam lover, that's preposterous. I have never seen Fisk condone violence in any way.

Robert Fisk has clearly stated that it will make NO DIFFERENCE in the middle east who is elected president in the US. He views both candidates as the same, and indeed they are in the issue of war. Both want to continue a presence in the middle east and support Israel.
