Look, the arguments against Barack are not based on policy. No one has attacked the health care policy. There are parts of the bill that could be argued, but the ones against it are not mentioning it...why? Aren't they angry about the health care bill or is it something else. You had people picketing outside the white house with racist signs. You have people saying they, "want their America back" but no one is saying we hate part of this health care bill?

It is somewhat amazing how partisan this country is. Take for instance socialism, all our allies practice socialism to a degree, yet when you call a politician a socialist, it's as though that person is evil.
As someone who's attended schools in Europe, Africa and the U.S., I can tell you that every aspect of America is partisan. You can't point to one issue, and not find a partisan perspective on it.

Wrong. I'm NOT conservative. I was very much against the Republican Party when I started reading his stuff. But logic is logic, common sense is common sense, and when someone understands a situation it shows. Mr. Sowell was NOT someone who just said what I wanted him to say. He says what HE wants to say and makes his points in a way that I have seen in few, if not ANY others.

The problem with the Democrats is that they don't know how to fall in line. Republicans will always vote for republicans. In the 80's when a lot of Democrats for Reagan, never would that happen in the Republican party.

@communipaw2009 Actually both parties supported slavery. Lincoln fought the war to keep the south and its vast agricultural resources in the Union. He only issued the Emancipation Proclamation as a means of depriving the south of much needed "free labor" during the war.

Eternal SSA: Wilson was correct. The truth is that there are no provisions in the bill(s) to prevent illegal aliens from the healthcare benefits. The president was misleading the people with the argument that since the bill did not explicitly have language granting access to illegal aliens that they would not have access. But, the truth is that since there was nothing explicitly excluding them, and with the current laws, they would have access to it. Go watch MSNBC and keep being used.

As wrong as your comments are, the way most conservatives think nowadays I'm not surprised. These same conservatives thought Bill Clinton was the devil, and were willing to vote for Bush over a much more capable John McCain in 2000.
Most of conservatives have moved so far right, that even being in the Center is considered being a socialist.
And considering the amount of legislation that Obama has passed, the onslaught he has recieved is highly uncalled for.

Finally, on race:
Racism is beyond the simple understanding of most conservatives, especially if they are republicans. Republican philosophy runs hand in hand to that of theory of realism: basically acting in your own self interest.
Minorities overwhelmingly vote democrat, especially blacks. It is not in republicans self interest to support black people in that regard, thus why they shun away from it.
I can understand why some people think this all about race baiting.

This notion you have that racism is beyond our understanding is a typical liberal argument. You say that the other side can't possibly understand your position, or reasoning thereof, because you have no basis for your position. Please, tell us your reasoning that racism is beyond conservative's understanding.

You read my comment before, I told you it's not in your self interest. You always say it's the left who divides this country across racial lines and all that. Yet, we ask people all around the world and they see the same things we see.
It was the same conservatives that didn't want civil rights reform because it wasn't in their self interest. Thus I don't argue with republicans about racism, at the end they lose either way, that's why they always label it as divisive talk.

j2y2k3: You really need to go brush up on American history; it was liberals and the Democrat party who opposed civil rights; conservatives in the Republican party forced the issue. You keep arguing about self-interest, since the majority of minority voters vote Democrat, isn't it in the Democrat's best interest to keep them dependent? If the Democrats ever let the minority become independent their party would have no support. They create racial and class boogeymen to get their votes.

I'm talking about politics since 1960, you're going back to 1800's to prove your point. Which I will give you credit, you are absolutely correct. However, the republicans are nowhere near the party that they were in the 1800's, neither are the democrats.
Kennedy made race a democratic issue, the same way Republicans made Christianity a republican issue. I guess according to your logic, republicans are keeping Christians dependent by inventing issues too. I guess we are all being used.

I'm not going back to the 1800's. I'm talking about the civils rights movement in the 1960's. Heck, the Democrats had a former clansmen as a leading Senator for years (Byrd from WV); I'm not sure if he is still active, he may be. Comparing Christians and Republicans that way is apples and oranges. What would make it apples and apples is if the Republicans routinely accused Democrats of being anti-Christian. Or, said that Democrats opposed their policies because they are anti-Christian.

No, you are a little off. The Dems were still the more "racist" party in terms of Klan membership and opposition to the civil rights bills in the 60s. It was after the split in the late 60s early 70s that the image started changing, but as benj pointed out, Robert Byrd is the Dems senior Senator to this day and he was a proud Klansmen.

The fact of the matter is that this nation should be ashamed for it's treatment of blacks, not to mention even Native Americans, which is the greatest unpunished crime in our history.
All I know is Republicans don't get the minority vote, last time I checked. I think I know why.

Why single out Repubs? Bush was the most publicly ridiculed Presin history. Obama still has a long way to catch up to the public ridicule, hatred, name-calling, nazi-racist accusing that Bush went through.
How could anyone live thorugh the last 8 years & think the Dems showed Bush any more respect than the Repubs show Clinton/Obama. The hypocracy is amazing. Dems held Congressional hearings when HW Bush spoke to kids yet shout "racism" if people even question Obama. It's nuts.

The tea party movement started in April 2009, Obama became president in January. It took 2 months for people to start some of the largest protest movements in our country since Vietnam.
It's so easy to get people to rebel against Obama. So easy to convince people that he is not a citizen of the U.S. So easy to convince people that there own President is trying to destroy his own nation, by making it more socialist.

The fact of the matter is that ever since Obama came into the presidency. It's been so easy for conservatives to gather people around. It's just 7 months into his presidency, and he's getting as much flack as Bush got after 8 years.
