On single boiler machines you should always do the milk first because the milk can stay hot for much longer time than a 4oz shot. You should drink a 4oz shot within 10 sec from pulling it out.
@klarinetta it is quicker for the boiler to go from brew temperature to steam temperature than it is for the boiler to drop down, in milk you dont notice most of the nuances that would be lost from the shot. if you are just having the shot and no milk I totally agree, those first ten seconds are soooo important. :-)
@bigbooktim1 You kidding me? It's the classic Duralex cup! Ever been to Europe? Italy, Spain, France... you get espresso in Duralex cups everywhere. I have a gorgeous Gaggia Achille machine and nothing but these classic Duralex cups would do.
thank you for this video:) and I think u r cool since u got bashed much here for no good reasons yet u didnt bash back...any others wld. thanks again!
I definitely agree that you should probably level out the grinds at about the top of the portafilter before tamping to keep an even distribution of pressure.
But hey, if you're enjoying the espresso that you get out of it, then good for you! Awesome to see more people enjoying making good espresso at home.
well done on burning the coffee. don't tamp so hard next time. coffee burns within 3 seconds of being in the group head and needs to be coming out 5 seconds after you hit the button or in your case the lever.
and to the dick who wrote do the milk at the same time -single head home machines usually don't have enough pressure for you to be doing both at the same time.
seriousluy.........you put way too many grounds in the centre, scrape the portafilter flat, then you have equal distribuition.......tamp to 30 pounds......blow off then put in machine....you should steam the milk while shot is made.....true wicket 2oz shot us made by using a triple basket with naked portafilter, this give the basket more room, a 2oz shot take 30 seconds..
you have to wait about 30-40 sec, after shoot the espresso. it is because it only have one bouiler, sow it ned to build up a new preasur for the steamer...it´s on of the small machins form ecm. ecm classika
doesn't it use the heat exchanger? I mean the Giotto(AKA Technika) can do steam and espresso at the same time. Unless the Classika is different. the water that goes through to the espresso(heat exchanger) shouldn't affect the boiler temperature much.
it´s because the classika is a smaller machine. it only have one watercontainer. giotto, and technika have to container. one for brewing, and one for steaming. thats way you can brew and steam at the same time.........
I don't know much about the giotto but unless the boiler is only small (say smaller than 1 litre) it should be able to brew and steam at the same time. My machine has a 2l boiler and heat exchanger and you can do both at once.
you have to wait about 30 sec, after you shoot the shot. it´s because it only have one tank, and it need to load up the preasur for the steamer.....its a ecm classika

@NattySack
5s? can be longer if the machine has a preset pre-infusion time.
ezralimm 1 year ago
@NattySack depends on how quickly the water flows into the portafilter. On first use ours take a few seconds before the water flows.

To a fellow Barista, I don't think you should compress your coffee so much, an espresso shouldn't take more than 30s max...
