@GoodEvenings , as a matter of fact I currently serve in the navy .. and I would be surprised if there was more than 2 bosun's fleet wide with a university degree. Also untill youve been at sea and seen bosun's in "action" shut the fuck up .
@fistymcbum I guess you can speak for yourself, but I know of many intelligent people who chose the bosn trade because they wanted to, not because they can't do anything else.

@fistymcbum Your comment is totally invalid. I know alot of people who are bosns who are also university graduates. Most of them are bosns because they enjoy it. I also know alot of infantry guys that actually put some effort into typing a well constructed comment. I'm assuming your not in the CF yet, and with that kinda attitude I hope you don't ever think of joining.

fucking deck apes, bosn is the worst trade in the navy, okay maybe better than storesy but pretty close. Although PO Wruck is very nice, she is a NBP instructor and not posted to a boat.

If I can do it all over again, I would take the exact same route. No matter what job you do, it's all about how we all contribute as a team for the mission of the ship.

I was a Bosun from 1976-1985 and enjoyed all of it refuelings,transfering cargo, cafeteria help,lookout,navigation etc the Bosun is a crutial person on the ships

Notice the presentation doesn't say anything about scubbing the supervisors toilets and showers...and duty watches. Also if you want to sign up, dont quit only after 20 years because first you'll never find work outside other than "mac" jobs and second you can't draw pension untill age 55. Finally, be aware you will be working with people who are mentally ill, disfunctional and sociopaths.
I Don't know,maybe he means the people that are mentally ill are the owners of the ships cause maybe they were messed up after fighting many wars,well that's probably what he meant if he's telling the truth.

The C.F. doesn't choose your field, nor can they transfer you to another one for punishment.
Though they can deploy you wherever your skills are needed.
Everybody in the Canadian military contributes to the main duties:
Serving our country and others around the globe.
Without our "deck swabbers", "cable guys" and "I.T. people", the whole Canadian Navy wouldn't be any use.

The Boatswains deal with all of the small arm weapons. Naval Weapon techs deal with the 57 MM and the much bigger weapons.
