  • Wow... I'm suprised this actualy works... Thanks :)

  • now have your volume on your pedal up too loud. Go to record. Fry your motherboard. GO!

  • i did everything and it works i can record on my computer but how would i make it so i can hear what im playing through my headhpones?

  • what if i don't have a pedal?

  • It is necessary to input line-level to the soundcard in order to get the best signal to noise ratio. Even so - you will get more noise than miking up an amp/cabinet and using a mixer to the soundcard.

I use a Focusrite Trackmaster which gives me a little compression if I want it.

The IK Amplitube is great but the amplified noise limits it somewhat.

  • Dude, this video really isn't showing us how to do it. Flashing from this to that is very confusing for those who are new to this. Is there any vids of people actually doing the process from start to finish? This video seem to geared towards those who already know how to do this somewhat.

  • @milew666 it's pretty spot on i did this method when i first started out and even if i was a beginner the instructions he gave are simply to easy to follow i can't imagine where you got lost? not trying to be a dick but seriously.

  • what guitar do you have? it looks like my indiana

  • i plugged mine in but i have a bit of a delay.

  • lol

  • Of course you need some sort of a pedal or more preferably a DI box. If you plug it straight it you'll blow your sound card after a while.

  • and then blow your pc sound card

  • i think i`m usin an older version of asus ..... can you help me by telling what setting should i do?

    please

  • this won't work for cubase or pro tools or logic.

  • It would only sound like shit if your amp is shit.

If your amp has fuzzing or hissing, the computer will pick up everything it hears. This is a no better way than to record it with a dynamic mic at the front of the amp.

  • @randomsarahgrace my amp is shit. so i place a singstar mic in front of it and plug the other end intothe microphone jack in my computer :)

  • sounds like shit

  • your guitaring suck...big time

  • @rayray6919 Einstein, he was showing how to plug your guitar into PC not how to play it.

  • ist not clear with audacity

can i do it with reaper

  • Where did you get that ASUS sound driver man? Do you have a link maybe? Please?

  • 0:23 LOL I HAVE THAT PEDAL TOO

  • if u have no pedal?

  • awesum buzz, might wanna get a noise reducer for that

  • That's the organ part from Smoke on da Agua.

  • @waldo2384 no, it starts out with just guitar then the organ starts up later.FYI

  • In 2:00 minutes you ll know how to record guitar and all the basic stuff. Copy Paste it after .com/: watch?v=CXweK8E9mN4

  • haha you have the same guitar and pedal as me

  • haha SMOKE ON THE WATER!!

  • Thank you!

  • does the computer/guitar rig 4 serves already as your amplifier or do you need to have an amplifier to play?? I am very much confused...sorry for my annoying question....and is it okay to plug the guitar directly to the computer?

  • @DhMlSr that's what i was wondering too

  • @DhMlSr yes you can, get a jack-to-mic lead. Plug the lead into your guitar and the mic into the mic input, if you have some speakers plugged in, you will get sound out of that. :)

  • i "Waves GTR" it turns my computer into an amp with: 30 different amp types from clean-high gain, and i also get 15 effects peddles , and 15 different amp cabinet sounds. its awesome!

  • all tutorials for this shit is always pics -_-

  • how much does "that thing" costs?

  • Hey... I got a dely on the sound when i play my guitar through the computer. Is that normal??

  • @pp99073 Yes when plugged into your oundcard like this it's called latency you will most likely have to step up to a computer interface running ASIO drivers for instance where there is no latency it's caused by your signal having to enter the computer travel through all the circuts and then be sent back out the sound card sometimes you can adjust the buffer to a smaller amount but you may get dropouts and you will still have some level of latency.

  • Ah great, I might have one of those jack lead condoms knocking around somewhere. Thanks bud!

  • where can i get one of those converters?

  • @mikeygheetarz26 radio shack.

  • could you actually say what the name of the converter is?

  • lol fart on water! smoke on water! :P

  • hm vsi4ko e OK samo 4e kato zapisvam se 4uva mn tiho i zvuka se 4uva mn kusno :/

  • got the same pedal :p

  • oh overdriven you need to have an interface

  • I plugged the guitar instantly to the Audio ports. does not work. any help?

  • is that safe ?

    i fear explosion or something

  • @sweettouth20 dont do it mine blew up and destroyed my hometown

  • :32 My favorite part! xD

  • i connected my acoustic guitar with my pc n used audacity n it sounded, urgggggg..

what shud i do.. i wana cover a song

  • hey u have the same guitar as me

  • When I plugged in the guitar, all strings came off and my computer exploded and I died.

  • Using the line out on an amp can blow your mic input on the computer (or mixer/poweramp/whatever). jussayin.

  • lronic. l have an adapter that looks the oposite..l know these thingies cost a couple of bucks, and they do their job pretty damn good!!

  • Bridge pickup+Over-drive on 10= :D

  • Bro, is there a way to connect ur guitar to ur pc with only the guitar cable and another type of port? Like a usb port?

  • I wonder why he got more dislikes than likes.

  • you dont need to have a pedal, you can just get a program like guitar rig and record through cubase. its sooooooo much better.

  • its the same with the acoustic guitar???

  • wel plug you guitar on the pc and download guitar rig 3 and ,tadah!!!! you dont need the pedal

  • Can you do this without an amplifier? I guess so, right?

  • just go to the music store and get a USB interface cable!!! they are only about $20 and give you way more options than this.

  • Hey dude, i have exactly the same pedal, and i alredy have the plug-converter, but there's a problem when i start to play... the signal comes out with some delay ( "comes out late"), and that makes sound like sh*t. My pc is windows 7, what can i do to solve the problem¿? See ya!

  • @Fukin4off I don't know! Seems like some people have the problem ,but I can't figure how to solve it!

  • @kaiba34 i read it on another vid, windows7 does not support this thing. i guess u should make ur disk another partition and then try.

  • @kaiba34 umm... i ead this somewhere b4, they said this doesn't work 4 windows7. i guess u should make ur hard disk 2 partitions and install it in the 2nd one and then try it.

  • @kaiba34 because u need to switch it to ASIO in ur sound preferences go to asio4all.com its a free asio u can use that should solve the problem and its not delay its latency and reducing the buffers can help to

  • @kaiba34 its your sound card on your computer, i got mine upgraded and now i have no delay with that, on my laptop it has delay... its the quality of the sound card that messes it up.

  • @Fukin4off

Hi there, My name is kirk and i belive the problem you have is something called latency! It basicaly means that the signal has been processed slower than what your playing. For a quick fix would be to buy a lightsnake guitar lead, which basically has a circuit buffer stage that corrects your problem. You can buy these of Ebay really cheap. Just type in guitar to usb. Ihope this helped.

    Thanks again

    K1RKYD

  • @Fukin4off i think you need a better sound card, or whatever it's called ?

  • @Fukin4off instal ASIO4all in your computer.. its reducing delay when record

  • @Fukin4off

You need a new soundcard, i had the same issue and replaced my soundcard and it fixed it.

  • @Fukin4off

you need a sound interface that can process the sound so quickly that delete the latency (that´s how this problem is named), when you use a device like I have mentioned you can hear a real time playing sound =)

  • @Fukin4off oh dude try to use xp !

  • @Fukin4off the delay is usually due to low RAM or sound cards settings...software settings...I remember already in windows 98 I fixed such delay problems

  • @Fukin4off i have the same problem XD

  • @Fukin4off U need to d/l ASIO4ALL. I had the same prob untill I installed this driver now my sound comes out as soon as I pluck the string. Happy days :)

  • @Fukin4off Look up ASIO drivers. Many sites have a download link. This driver is supposed to connect your guitar directly to the external/internal soundcard unlike the default drivers that microsoft has. If your using audacity or any other DAW software. After installing the ASIO driver you are going to have to change your settings in the software you are using. Good luck.

  • @Fukin4off get a better sound card....

  • @Fukin4off tou need to instal asio4 driver

  • @Fukin4off I know, probably the recording devices is inserted into ur microphone, not on your front mic AKA guitar

  • @Fukin4off its called "latency" and its one of the big problems associated with this method, about 90% of people have it- because the signal isn't completely digital (its going into the line in) your computer has to process it to turn it INTO a digital signal, rather than it already being one.

  • @InfiniteRhombus I heard there is another cable you can use where it goes into the computer 'digitally' I'm not sure though because I haven't bought one yet. But will this also have latency?

  • @RyanJRA64Abella theres lots of different ways, but honestly the best way would probably just to spend the 100 dollars and get a dedicated interface specifically for it, they usually dont have latency (as they use USB and convert your guitars signal into a true digital signal instead of just a "mic'd" one)

  • OMG stupid idea ur gunna bust ur sound card..not to mention the crappy sound...by a recording interface if ur gunna do ur own recordings

  • anyone know whats the name of the thing 0:05 ???

kaiba34 i have the same brand of your pedal and mine has USB connection for recording editing and more and i must find something that plugs my pedal on my PC through USB and it will sound better but i don't know if i can find it ;/

  • @timoscy007 What about 6.3 mm to 3.5 mm jack adaptor?

    Like this:

    h tt p://w w w.musiconmypc.c o.u k/cables-and-leads/guitar-cable-to-pc-mac-adaptor-6-3mm-mono-jack-to-3-5mm-mono/

  • i wanna connect them to use my pc as an amp... you have any idea how to?

  • dude wat if i want to cover a song...i just record the guitar with the pc? what about the background song???

  • @PICKER132 go get a mixing software, google it.

  • @UnforgivingCritic kk thnks

  • es necesario colocarlo al pedal...;(

  • where do you plug the adapter into a laptop???

  • whats a whammy pedal?? did he mean wah?

  • @bbender1986 a whammy is not on Les Pauls, but its on for example and Stratocaster. If you dont what it is, you probably should watch this vid..

  • Do you have use pedals to record? can you just plug the guitar in and alter the sound on the computer?

  • this is one more "for-retards" tutorial :D

  • @MrRabbitBlack Ha haha for sure

  • dude, a better easy way is just to get a usb mic like the blue snowball or the like and just mic your amp.

In studios they use super fancy gear but it all comes down to mic-ing an amp. You'll get a better sound, direct in just isn't as good.

  • would it work if i had my cables set up like this?

    guitar>foot pedal>computer ?

(without using my amp output thing)

  • it doesn't work to me... :S

  • can i use sonar and guitar rig with that?

  • I have the same Digitech as you, and I can't hear my guitar while I play and record . Only on the saved file. How can I hear "live" with Audacity ?

  • hey i have same guitar prossessor...its distortion really sukz!!

is urs distortion good??if yes,plz send me the settings ....tks!!

  • is the pedal neccesary? .. coz i dont hav one .. can you connect it directly to the pc and using a software add distortion and effects??

  • @rhn94 and u just wanna play my guitar .. not record .. as a substitute till my amp get's repaired .

  • i want to know of any software that will amp it up too.......at the moment it just sounds crap without the effects but i havn't come across anything that works yet :/

  • @Killswitch1991 gtr solo has alot of different sounds, check it out

  • :D you made it in a way that a retard could understand.. gj but is there actually a way to add effects without whammys and that sort of equipment and just the pc?

  • @sandiyy I plan to redo this vid!Of courseyou can download a software with guita effects and play!

P.s. I know te vid and my playing suck ,but hey that was year and a half ago!

  • where can we find those effects and make them work... you should post a link for those who don't have a lot of time to search....!!!

  • just buy a mac and use garageband

  • Lol, smoke on the water

  • Incorrect .. This is fart in water ;)

  • @ gummed lmao xD

  • @gummed correct

  • Will this work with a Zoom Box G2.1U , if you happen to know? Zoom Box with Audacity can work?

  • "Then plug second cable into guitar, & then to the processor", ~what did you mean?, is that a third cable going to a processor?

  • i have the same pedal as that !

  • Audacity sucks

  • This is just the dow amature version I used to strart with xDDD , if you guys wanna get pro results, you should invest into extern sound hardware, which nowadays isnt expensive at all!

  • wow you have the exact same cable as me with the spring and everything O_o

  • @zirconiumeffect Me too :P

  • i hv that effects pedal

  • @kidwolfe111 friends got it .. its ok XD

  • question: when i plugged my guitar straight to the mic socket.. will it cause delay or some problems with sounds? my friend tested it and he said that the sound is a little bit late

  • its a bit late because he plugged it into the mic port, not the line in... if u hav a line in port u plug it into that, but if not u can either buy a sound card or just use mic port and deal with the delay and slight distortion of sound...

  • buy a adapter for your output or head phone jack in your and for a 1/8 inch cable. buy a 1/8 inch cable (with two ends). plug your adapter into the output, your 1/8 inch cable in the adapter, and the other end of the cable in your line- in. then plug your guitar in the input. this is the best way i think.

  • Learn to play!!!

  • he can play...smoke on the water pfft

  • can i do the same with my line- out of my amp?

  • Yes!

  • yes...

  • what program is that by asus?

  • This is great, but what should i do if want to use my pc and pc speaker as an amp, not for recording but real time playing? I know i need a software like amplitube or guitar rig, i tried to plug a guitar in line ii on a computer with amplitube, but i hardly got any sound from it. What should i do?

  • woo audacity!! xD

  • dude my guitar sounds fuckin low as hell

  • and then it will explode xD! hahaha just kidding xD

  • 1/4 to 1/8 inch adaptor

  • can u explain how i would use audacity to record? i have an adapter cable and stuff but can u maybe put up a video or something like a demo?

  • where can i find asus sound driver i can't find it on any site

  • so that's how you do it thanks man your awesome!!!!

  • i dont have a pedal. what can i do?

  • me too))))

  • I'm almost certain you can just ignore the pedal, and go straight to the computer.

  • yup

  • @jakeyboy909 Yes, into the "audio in", but since you arent pluging it into a mixer or an external soundcard it is very hard to get effects to go in the sound when the guitar sound is outputted.

Unless you are using FL studio that is...

  • you have to have some sort of processor. if you have an amp just run it out of the head phone out and then into the pc. no amp? hack a guitar cable and splice rca jacks on 1 end and plug that into the phono in on a stereo and then out of the head phone jacks into your pc.

  • OMG! Do you really like this sound?

Sure you can connect your guitar in this way, but it will never sound (static noise) better, cause a guitar has NO line-level. The imopedance doesn't match thus it sounds crappy,

The only way to get a better sound, buy (or try) Amplitube, GearBox,GTR2....And after that buy a new (better) soundcard. Then you will hear the difference.

  • correct!

  • fully agree mate

    what do u use??

  • I use an Line6 POD XT Live with USB into PC. Then I can record with any Programm/DAW. I use Reaper. When going with USB I have to use a VST-Plugin. I use Amplitube. So u can re-amp your guitar recording thus you have the pure, clean Guitarsound.

  • thx mate, ill try the program, but i managed luckly to get a lot better adapter so i now get really clean sound (and it costed me something about 0.5e) and GTR4 has some noise reductors so it works real great and really cheap.

    thx anyway!!!

  • What do you mean "0.5e"? 50cents? Can you tell which interface you got?

Oh, GTR4 is fine too! I didn't check it out. I viewed some manufaturers videos and it sounded very good. Paul Reed Smith was involved in the Design of mic&cabinet emulation. But Waves isn't known to be inexpensive.

  • what do u mean interface?

yeap, 50 cents. ive done just some simple steps, bought a good adapter, guitar jack to 3.5mm that doesnt have to much free space inside so u dont collect too much static noise(youll always have it but u can put it really low). i connected it directly to the sound card without any pre-amp, and i needed a program called ASIO4ALL (free) to i can manually control bitrate i some other stuff so i could get instant reaction from computer (no delay). and thats it!

  • installed gt4 (pirate version) on vista if u asked for that. if for some reason u still have problem with static noise (it was the biggest problem for me), it has some noise reductors who can work really great in some effects (in some not so good but does the job)

  • With Interface I mean a professional-Soundcard with Impedance adaptor.A normal Soundcard has a Input Impedance of 2KOhms.A Guitar has a Impedance of 15KOhms. That doesn't match! You will hear static, noise and it will sound "wrong". When you are happy with this sound you will be very surprised when you hear it with a corrcet setup.

  • I have a Creative X-FITitanium PCIexpress with it's own ASIO driver which lets me set Latency as low as 5ms! As you are using Asio4all I think your soundcard has no own ASIO driver. It may work, but I made bad experience with onboard-sound. I know, my X-FI is only semi-pro, but I have NO static nor noise and over 110dB.

  • maybe, but im happy with the quality it sounds really nice though. the only problem i have is that ASIO disables all other types from playing. i can play any kind of sound file while ASIO is working. do u know maybe how could i fix it? (i have some drumm machine-software and it doesnt work.. with asio)

  • There is no way to use a soundcard with ASIO & WMD or DX drivers simultaniously. When using ASIO the Soundcard is quasi not present for normal Windows-Sound. The Solution is to use a DigitalAudioWorksation Software like Reaper (Shareware). Then you can use Drummachines as VST-Plugin. There are thousands of Plugins for free. But I I doubt that a onboard Soundcard could handle more than 8 tracks with low (<10ms) latency. But try it. With Reaper you can also import any Soundfile and mix it.

  • what about in laptop?

  • same thing...

  • ahhh ill try it ... im using G1X

  • help me pls ....im just wondering ... because as i saw your demo .. you used pc .now?? my problem is that im not using pc but im using a laptop ? is it ok? what do you suggest? pls reply asap

  • It's absolutely the same!
