As an atheist I respect the individual's right to decide to join a given religion.  What I cannot respect is when religious people react negatively towards criticism of their faith by using intimidation of verbal threats, actual physical harm, killing, etc. Why can't people see that religion DIVIDES us? I know there is more to it than mere reverence to Ahlu albait. But you can't deny that some Shias can be defined most by that reverence to the point of un healthy obsession. Some of todays Sunnis also have bad practices and we all need to come together and do things moderately and according to the true Islamic teachings (if we can ever agree on them that is).

A good start would be Quran and Sunna of the Prophet. Salaam

Salaam Alikum khorshidezar, You are judging and analyzing people who come to Islam on things that are neither wrong nor unislamic. A sister could settle for just the hijab, and that would be acceptable, but if she chooses niqab then that would definitely be a better choice and gain her more rewards from Allah (though niqab is not obligatory, it is rewarded). We should give them the benefit of the doubt and respect their choices and try to work on ourselves instead.

But we don't make them more than what they are. Islam is about Submission to Allah and following his prophets teachings. We are not to elevate the status of ANY human being more than we should and that includes not only the prophets family but also the prophet himself (As happened to the Christians with Jesus).
