  • The Chinese made them also

In real version and airsoft version

  • not much of a documentary

  • Congrats on the video, you can read wikipedia. GOOD DAY SIR!

  • It IS actually very accurate, with kills recorded at 1300m. I see all the time people saying that they can't get good groups of 5 with a psl. Next time the enemy stands still for you to put 5 rounds in his eye, he'll be happy to hear that. Remember too, not a sniper rifle, not a battle rifle, somewhere in between.

  • это суки не ваше оружие!!!!что бы им пользоваться!!!Размахивайте своими дубинами дерьмовыми!!!

  • Ok its a nice rifle and i wouldn't mind owning one (if they were still available) but how can anyone call it a sniper rifle, it shoot 2 to 4 moa at best.

  • @gigalo86 WTF the SVD and by SVD i mean SVD not a fucking clone nor a fuckin civilian clone of the damned clone, is 1-1.5 moa or is not accepted for service.

  • @PATRONSKiii wow saying "fucking" really help emphasize your point. Its 2-4 moa rifle assuming a few of the people working on it went drunk, not a sniper rifle, more of a designated marksman rifle. Plus a m4, which uses an intermediate short range cartridge, has a ticker barrel than the its pencil barrel. I do like the ak platform but have you ever examined a rifle from the Izhmash factory, which produces the original russian ak's? Cause if you have i don't see how can can say its 1 to 1.5 moa

  • @gigalo86 Yes it fucking emphasize my fucking point, you do like the AK "platform", that's great, but it's out of subject here we talk SVD. As i expected, you think SVD is an AK on steroid... The M76, PSL, ROMAK ARE AK on steroid, and offer 3-4 MOA, more on the 2-3 MOA range for military grade ones. But SVD is a totally different weapon, milled receiver, thicker barrel, short stroke piston, and 1-1.5 MOA for the izhmash military grade with 7n1 or 7n14 round.

  • @gigalo86 M4 is a 223 carbine how for the fuck's sake would it be comparable to a 311 rifle ? M4 effective range is 300m after its accuracy is unacceptable and its energy is rediculous. SVD 800 effective range with still enough energy to kill a bear. In soviet afghan war, soviet snipers scored 1000m kills with the 4xSVD, so it is a sniper rifle, as well as a DMR.

  • I noticed a lot of you here think the SVD is the same as an AK or PSL well NO! The SVD uses a short stroke gas piston with an operating rod and op rod spring then bolt akin to an M-1 rather than AK! The PSL is beefed up AK op rod piston and bolt carrier are all in one assembly

  • the bottom one at 31 secs isnt a real svd its a psl 54, totally different rifles. The pls is based on a AK type action, jus chambered lager and beefier

  • What a piece of junk. Your average deer rifle from Savage is more accurate out of the box for a fraction of the cost.

  • XUY USA QANDON,,SVD MADE IN RUSSIA

  • If you think this weapon is effective @1200m with iron sights or 1300m with a scope you have serious hallucination problems. I think its 500m for irons and 700m for the soviet scope for at least a 70% chance of a 1 shot hit. This aint no precision weapon.

  • MUTE!

  • Problems -this was not a documentary -half of those were Romanian psl -several were tiger rifles -same pictures are show over and over again -poor video -shitty music -I wanna see you or anyone shoot 1,200m with iron sights. The dragunov was intended for 600-800m shots using a scope at the most as a DESIGNATED MARKSMEN RIFLE. -several were airsoft -its 7.62x54r not "7.62x54mm" -
  • the rifle just before "made in Soviet Russia" isnt an SVD but a Romanian PSL.

  • another great gun by russia and mikhail kalashnikov who is the greatest gun designer in the world...next to john mosses browning...well they tie

  • 1, it's 7.62x54r and 2, it's the soviet union, there is no such thing as soviet Russia.

  • @crashtest2302 Yes, actually there is technically such thing as Soviet Russia. The Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. RSFSR. Each individual Soviet (Council) state had a name of similarity to that.

  • SVD was never based on AK design :) It has other action. It look like an AK (like most ruSSian made guns) but it is not an AK-Style action rifle. Dont mix it with PSL

  • Great song man, kept me through the whole video.

  • Wheres the documentary..?

  • your spelling is just terrible!

  • ummm actually the svd and ak, have 2 way different operating systems. the psl is baesd off the ak system, but not the svd. also at some point you have a pic of a psl in the vid. while this is a communist dmr, it is not a draugnov. its still a good rifle but its not an svd.

  • Already have an M40A3, working on an EBR, I just might go and get one fo these too !

Then again I might just give up on the EBR and go with an SVD .... !

  • @Herbymac0811 You better start saving. Actual Dragunovs can cost well over $10,000. You can get a replica(like the ROMAK) for about $800, though. Yes, I said $800. BIG price difference, lol. I suggest you go with the replica.

  • @MostEpicMango No kidding man ! I'd love to have a real one but damn. And as of now it's a want not a need. But if I realy wanted a long range semi auto I'd put a scope on my M14. 800 sounds alot better though =)

  • @Herbymac0811 I want one, too. Soooo sexy. I don't have $10,000 to blow on a gun I probably won't shoot that much. The magazines are OUTRAGIOUS, too! I'm talking $100 outragious. For a piece of metal! Maybe one day I'll buy the replica...

Anyways, good luck on your firearms endeavors! I hope you can find a reasonably priced Drag. Message me if you do find a good one. I always love pics!

  • a lot of the rifles pictured are not true dragunov rifles, their cheap ak platform rifles, outfitted with longer barrels and svd type rifle stocks

  • SVD = Snaïperskaïa Vintovka Dragounova. What you call dragunov is an SVD, there's no difference

  • @lessiver dragunov rifles:

    dragunov svd

    dragunov svu

    dragunov svdk

    ....

  • SVD is such a classy weapon i wish i had one.

  • SVD has very strong recoil.

  • it uses different design to AK47/74 the sniper rifles that were used by Yugoslavia and some other East European country's are up-scaled AK47 design but not SVD people assume SVD does because the fire control layout is the same as the AK series assault rifles !

  • hope this is on black ops :)

  • This is my favorite sniper.

  • to me its look like an ak with a long barrel, smaller magazine and new stock

  • what is difference svd and dragunov

  • accually i named it svd to make it easyer to find but the true name of the gun in this documentry is the dragunov svd so they are both the same but there is a mosinata svd i no i spelled it rong srry but there is more then one type of svd class rifle put there

  • @howtoeat4 they are NOT the same

  • @howtoeat4 Offcourse there are different types of SVD for example there is a short one.

  • @howtoeat4 svd= snaiperskaya vintovka dragunova= dragunov's sniper rifle

  • Comment removed

  • @daverocker1

"Snayperskaya Vintovka Dragunova" (SVD) aka Dragunov

  • @daverocker1 well there are manny dragunov rifles

one of those is the svd

i think the svd was the first one

you also have a svdk, svu, and i think somme other dragunov rifles

  • @daverocker1 "svd" is an abbreviation from what i've been reading. there is no difference in the gun, just what people call it

  • @daverocker1 Same, Dragunov is a surname like Kalashnikov. SVD stands for Sniper Rifle of Dragunov.

  • @daverocker1

Heavy machine gun KORD in Russia

  • @daverocker1 S-sniper V -vintov D dragunov Russian name

  • @daverocker1 SVD in russian language means sniper rifle Dragunov

  • @daverocker1 Ahaha man, S.V.D (Snaiperskaya vintovka Dragunova) it means (Sniper Rifle Dragunov) so the D is for "Dragunov" (Снайперская Винтовка Драгунова), so normally we don't need to precise it once more, if you want to translate that term in english, that would normally be SRD then :D

  • @daverocker1 the d in svd means dragunov, as far as my knowledge goes, no resaerch done for this, dont start bitching if im wrong.

  • @daverocker1 SVD = Dragunov

  • @daverocker1 The SVD is a Dragunov I think you ment to say the PSL the Rommanian Version. The gun it self and the magazine.

  • this gun seems to be based off the ak-47

  • ya it was based off the ak design like alot of soviet and russian weapons and evean some american weapons for reliability ak design just simply works thats y the ak-47 is the most widley used assualt rifle/ gun in the world with the worlds hightest total kill count

  • @howtoeat4

    Ak47's are cheap.

    This is why.

  • @howtoeat4 The Dragunov has nothing in common with the AK series of rifles aside from the appearance.

  • @howtoeat4 no disrespect, but in actuality the dragunov is completely unrelated to the AK series. it is purely asthetics. also, svd is an abreviation.(a word with s, a word with v, and dragunov). if you can read russian, look at the top of the screen at 0:04. it has it spelled out(i just forgot how to pronounce it.) hope this helps for future reference... yeah

  • Dragunov sniper rifle - Sniper Vintovka Dragunov - SVD - СВД

  • @ghettopigman it isnt, though some of the pictures in this doc are of the PSL not the SVD. While the PSL looks a little like a SVD superficially, the PSL is essentially a scaled up ak. The SVD is a very different rifle.

  • @ghettopigman the resemblance is purely external. there's no relation to the Kalashnikov and no parts interchangable.

  • @ghettopigman He is actually a complete idiot. The Dragunov and the Kalashnikov were designed years apart by completely different people. The design may look the same, but in all reality is completely different. Perhaps if you are thinking of the Romanian psl or the Yugoslavian m-76 which are stretched out aks other wise its unrelated.

  • @ghettopigman yes and no, it has similar features, but everything was done over to accurize it and make parts more durable with sniper ammunition.

  • Hey this in Resident Evil 5 Dragunov is ok I'd prefer to have the Heckler & Koch PSG-1

your next documentary should be on Smith & Wesson Model 500

  • The song is a bit better than the video itself. =D The song is the BOMB, considering it's Ozzy. On that basis, this video rocks. O-o I actually learned a crap-ton about the SVD xD

  • dRAGUNOV LOKS JUS LIKE AK

  • And for good reason. The AK-47 had already been praised by troops for reliabillity and perfomance so the designers basicly adapted the AK for long range use. Now as with the AK the design has changed very little in 40 years. "If it ain't broke don't fix it"

  • no problem glad u like it

  • wow awesome i never knew it was made i 1960 thanks bro=) i love the video and the song=) thanks alot also! the svd is biger than i thout=) look 1:49 thanks bro
