A friend came back from China with a gift of Durian cookies each about the size of a nickel. They came in a box full of sealed packs of two cookies. They stink when you open the packs but the cookies taste O.K......surprisingly not bad.

wrong way to open a durian =.=! u can open it easily by squeezing a small knive at the tips end of the fruit and crack it open!! by the way yur durian is expired

Wow kid you are on your way! If you can handle the Durian Fruit I think you can handle anything! Andrew Zimmern tried this fruit on one of his Bizzare food episodes and almost puked. lol. Also have you ever tried rattlesnake? I want to try that myself.

I'm asian and I cant stand this fruit although strangely enough the smell is super sweet to me and quite appetizing but the taste is like death on a plate. I suggest you try duck blood, it's also an asian dish that I find to be one of the most foulest things to ever coat my mouth. The aftertaste that lingered in my mouth and throat was like as if I had just ate a corpse. Oh yeah, congrats for being able to eat the stuff, even Andrew Zimmern can't handle this vile fruit.

@FoodOddities I'm not too sure since I only tried it once and regretted living. It's called Tiet Canh Vit in vietnamese. I'm sure google will provide you with all the answers. The way I had it was with with peanuts and lemon although they did nothing to hide or help the putrid aftertaste.

In Singapore, we have Durian Pudding, Durian Gelato and even Durian Pancakes!!! Really happy to see you liking this tropical South-East Asia fruit! I love it too! But too much of it can get you heaty, which might cause sore throat. Drink lots and lots of water after eating this or add a small teaspoon of salt into a cup of luke warm water to help get rid of the heat! As always, you're really brave! :)

here's the trick, you wash your hands with the durian seed since the smell is hard to remove with soap. and that's not how you open durian :)) you have to crack it a little and push it all way through
