4890's aren't that quiet, but they run cool.

If you want an Nvidia alternative, grab the GTX275, it's quieter but runs hotter, around same performance.

system would not boot if a stick had failed.

Make sure its in ok, and the in the same channel.... and dont mix brands with diferent timings.

Lol, I used to be a purely Nvidia boy ever since I was 13, until XFX started making 4XXX series cards and I read about how well the 4800's were doing, 2 weeks ago I ordered a XFX 4890 after doing alot of research into its performance. Havnt built my new comp yet tho...ATI is really bringing back the old competition this time. Nvidia has ruled for too long(ever since the nvidia g80 series).

But the price to performance of the 4890 is just awesome, its so good that XFX is finally making ATI cards.

i have the xfx 4870 gb and the packaging is the same

however, theres one thing i can't get out of my head... how come there isn't any protective foam or cushioning around the graphic card ? xfx should rethink that

its just an overclocked 4870...my 2 overclocked 4830,s will get more frame rates...i moded the bios for both cards to run 750mhz core and 1000mhz memory a 4850 runs 625mhz at the core so i they now run faster then 4850,s even with 140 shaders removed the overclock makes up for it...no offence..i bought em both for $63 a piece open box from new egg...its all about the price to performance my when buying computer hardware Brother...peace out

my 3650 can run hawx on full dx9 at 1920x1080 maxed out i get around 25 fps so i can only imagine what this card gets, as a side note i got my 4890 ordered man im so stoked i cant wait for it to arrive, ill do an unboxing as well, thanks for all the great vids

xfx uses the stock motherboards on their ati cards(dont know about nvidia) so they arent any better then a saphire or H.I.S. however, both H.I.S.and saphire design their own boards for better performance.msi does too. powercolor also, but they do it to cut costs. the only thing xfx has going for it is the double lifetime warranty. nevertheless, if i were choosing between a saphire or xfx and they were the same price, i would def get the xfx.
