Mount it right and don't use the cheapest Cobra in existence....a lot of people hate cobra, but anytime I've paid attention to it, and used it properly; I've avoided speeding tickets.

i have this exact detector, and other than the fact that this one is terribly mounted this is a very good under $70 radar detector. been speeding with it for 4 years now and its worked great, no complaints at all

Keep in mind, low power radar isnt going to be picked up from afar if the user only squeezes the trigger on the radar gun when your on top of him.

You cant pick up a signal that isnt transmitted yet.

This would appy to a cereal box radar, all the way up to a V1.

Sometimes they dont pull the trigger on the radar gun till your on top of them.

Everybody keeps beating up cobras. Mine has saved me a (minimum) of three tickets.With fines and insurance increases; do the math. REMEMBER: A RADAR DETECTOR IS ONLY GOOD FOR TWO THINGS: To WARN YOU when a radar is being used, and when one -JUST GOT USED ON YOU! Hopefully it's the former, and not the latter. I'm 3 "saves" and counting. So far.my cobra has detectect a trap for over a mile and a half away, Not too bad for a low end detector.Under sun visor mounting, level to road is best results.

@BUDDYO48 Some Cobra units are solid detectors. I personally use a 9960G Cobra, and like it a lot. I've used various Whistlers and the Escort 8500, and the 9960 has been right on par with all of them in my area. I wouldn't trust it in an instant on infested area, but for the typical constant on K, Ka, and X band, it performs very well. I also own a Valentine One, so that is my primary detector, but the Cobra still finds its way to my windshield quite a bit for my trips through town.

i had this radar detector. and i got pulled over going 59 in a 45. upgrade my friend. trust me i got a cobra 9445, its pretty good. but beltronics or escort are way better

Cobra detectors themselfs aren't -bad- even the LOWER end models such as this model.

I use the same detector in ALL 4 of my vids and has saved me $800 in US dollars in speeding tickets.

In each instance it's provided me with MORE then enough alert to slow down to the PSL -posted speed limit- before running into the officer.

Also it helps when you mount it the right way.. middle of the windshield in the center or next to the mirror like V1 users do. lower for laser.. higher for radar.

If at the top is so much better then why are remote units like the 9500ci and sti-r mounted in the grill area and not a special mount on the roof right above the windshield???? lol ever think about that?

@qwagbeast Because Radar detectors like the Whistler 78 are very sensitive to where they are mounted. the slightest obstruction of a radar signal can make it not even pick it up. in smaller cars Mount higher so when a car is in front of you it can go through the windows ... and have better signal strength.

Radar Roy -23 years in the game of radar/laser PROVED that factor also.. though not a -huge- difference.. it was noticable enough and proven.. higher =radar, lower=laser.

Shit's legit and it never failed me. Why would i get a radar for 600 bills when i can get one for 200 and work just as good.

I had one of these it was the ESD-7400... Terrible TERRIBLE detection.. by the time it would alert to a radar detection the cop/speed trap was in plain view of sight.. as in this case you can obviously notice the vehicle parked doing his thing WAY before the detector picked it up.. REMEMBER your EYES are the best detector... these things are just to help aid you.. save up some money and get a good range one V1 I recomend good luck man. :/

Cobras are the worst radar detectors you can get. I got a speeding ticket the other day from a motorcycle DPS. on the highway. I was going 81 on a 55 limit. The f&*#^! radar didn't even make a false alert. Im thinking about getting a new radar, but not know which one is the best. Any suggestions will help?

you dont need bogey count when you can simply lock it out with gps, and for fixed cameras it will alert you and warn you when approaching revenue camera, I dont hear annoying beeps from my radar anymore only when it needs to.

-Try knowing which police cars have RDD's because there is only a fue police cars in my state with RDD's.

-As a back up have a cheap RDD at your disposal in case of seizure.

My 9500ix works awesome, Detects laser and radar in time for me to avoid a ticket.

Yours on the other hand beeps everytime you pass automatic doors because you dont have gps lockout which mine does :)

9500i GPS lockout was proven shitty by the Radar review guys as it locks out real police radar AND the falses.

I have a radar detector, Passport 9500IX. I've had ALOT of cobras, enough to know they suck for the most part. Sorry, I did not mean to insult you directly, just poking fun at how you have it mounted, or at least that's how it appears in the vid. And about the K/Ka thing, really? I had an 80ish dollar cobra and it reported them differently... whatever. guess it makes sense though. the might wanna save the cost of 1 more LED.
