Oh riiight.. mourning, intense grief, accumulated rumor, confirmation bias etc. have absolutely NOTHING to do with seeing apparitions - unless, of course, the apparition was of anyone EXCEPT Jesus - then its your imagination playing tricks on you.
Here's a crazy idea.. Perhaps, rather than talking to someone whose job is to 'defend' a particular point of view, it might be more honest to talk to someone with no religious agenda.
His claim is that witnesses were convinced that Jesus performed real miracles. Based on what? He says he can take "skeptical data" and prove his point, but he doesn't give even one specific example. This is just a commercial for his book.
@voiceofreason467 .............You are wrong with your assumption of New Testament writings..I wish we could make a bet on it, I need some money...Do your research. Furthermore, feel free to list why you THINK that they were dated after the 1st Century. I will read your post when you do...
@voiceofreason467 .......Exactly who is"WE"? lol......1 Corinthians was written around 55AD. That has been looked into throughly, and is accepted by top Bible Scholars etc, around the world...You wish to be a scoffer, or disbelieve, that is your choice...Christ is Risen! Those who don't believe that? That is your/their choice. You will see soon enough... Every knee shall bow before Him one day, including yours...
@voiceofreason467 ....wrong answer...Do your homework bud....The scriptures were written as early as 55A.D. 1 Corinthians for example...This is proven historical fact...What is most significant is the tomb is empty and Christ is the Risen King of Kings!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Definition of Christianity: the belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree
Historicity and researched data is evidence - not ignorance. The accepted data that Dr Habermas is using is from the authoritative stance from skeptics and scholars - not theologians. And he still can build his case for the resurrection.
Habermas is using an "appeal to authority" argument. The problem is that he doesn't do that with science. Whenever an area of science proves the universe is 4.5 billion years old and not 6 000 years, or that all life including humans evolved, then Habermas doesn't give a damn about all those credible professionals.
Ehrman is far too generous in debating, but at least he shows that even granting all their assumptions still does not prove their faith.
they where visions/hallucinations

Natural explanation? Suggestion. Nothing can make a superstitious person "see" something like being told something is there.

His argument is already flawed... and I'm only 1:35 into the video. I can already see where this is going, another cliche video.

I guess Habermas believes in a LOT of gods and a LOT of miracles then--his "arguments" work identically for all reports of the supernatural.

Wow that is the worst application of logical fallacy I've witnessed. He doesn't even pretend to use or show any evidence....

Yes but his argument is not only an argument from authority but also a massive argument from ignorance.
