  • Thanks. I am a technophobe. This has helps me a lot....my server has just gone down though!! Thanks again

  • This is simple and you don't have to use your browser like you would for *ANY* webmail (great solution there bud, how do I hammer this nail, why, with a hammer!) SMRT.

Anyway, to get it working with Mail, guess what, *ADD A MAIL ACCOUNT*

Why, how do I do that? Glad you asked:

Settings -> Mail -> Add Account.. -> Other -> Add Mail Account, fill in the info. done. That's it. Seriously thats all there is to it.

  • Thanks for helpling out the slow people. LOL. I just got my itouch today and figured this out. ALso for more convinence instead of bookmarking it you can save it to the home page, it'll come out as an app. :)

  • u cant send emails thow

  • Lol, not that your solution doesn't work.. but i'm sure people are smart enough to think of this so if anyone wants a different solution..

    /watch?v=JF7i-lFzlcg

    Nice video anyways =D

  • WTF? This is fricken common sence

  • This is a great simple solution. One problem, you cannot open any attachments open in this application if they are there.

  • tou can simply just make the mail app work for hotmail tho to save you having to look in safari search (on youtube) 'get hotmail to work with mail app on ipod touch'

  • i like it. i followed this pretty much as you said it, i also created an icon rather than bookmarking it, which acts as another direct link to hotmail.

  • how do you change your email address on the iphone or swap from two

  • It may be secure, but it's harder. And also, Izymail and all the hacking stuff are for retards.

Why would you hack it just to get email? Why would you give out your password just to get email?

    Great video. :)

  • @Ryku650 check my channel for vid on how to:) including full solution =]

  • Thanks for the help, but i don't know why apple don't add Hotmail onto the mail icon... strange :S

    thanks again

  • hotmail is affiliated with microsoft, hence why it has changed to windows live. and apple and microsoft aren't really best friends

  • While it is a simple solution, not everybody had thought of this to access hotmail, and said so in their comments. Therfore the statement "everybody knows this...." is wrong.

  • Thats because people don't want to access hotmail through safari, they want it through the mail app. Which can now be done anyways.

  • @zac677

dude ur "workaround" isnt even necessary, I just went to "other" then filled out the account info, then it automatically detected the server name, which is something like pop3.live.

if the autodetection isnt working with u just google "incoming hotmail server"

and u can type it in.

  • Everybody knows this....

The reason people use sites like izy ware is because you can view email right on the email app, and the interface is much better and easier to use

  • Read comments before leaving your own. If you had, you would have realized that your statement is wrong.

  • How is my statement wrong?

  • @jumpinpizza

you dont even need that thing just look up the server names on google then fill out the info under the "other" mail option and ur good.

  • although i have one problem i cant get the page to look like the actual web site, all it shows is inbox refresh new message etc... with no blue background or anything how do i get it to look like the actual hotmail page?

  • lol i never thought of just going to the actual msn web site and signing in like you would on your computer thanks man :P

  • I cant get mines off the mobile site >;(

  • @bex9641 check my channel for vid on how to:) including full solution =]

  • Hi, my friend is having trouble figuring out how to reply to his hotmail email on his ipod touch....can anyone explain how please?

  • Everyone knows how to do this, and is great if you want to spend over 5 minutes per message trying to open them by dragging and zooming everywhere. Web browser makes lousy mail interface.

  • Thank you sooo much!!! I thought I was missing something!

  • the way to read e-mail was right in front of my eyes...but i didnt see it...thats just riddicculus...tnx m8

  • and i cant open attachments any solutions??

  • you won't be able to on your iPod. It can only download registered apple software (unless you jailbreak it). An alternative would be to download the one off the iTunes store, which costs unfortunately D:

  • I have the new model of the iphone and even through safari, hotmail identifies that you are signing in from an iphone and diverts you to the Windows Live Hotmail site to request you pay $20 for the service. Is there any way around this?

Why is hotmail doing this? Dont they realize that all the iphone users will just switch to gmail? Seems a little ridiculous.

    Thanks

  • ty my man

  • thanks dude this helped alot

  • Thanks :-)

  • you'r right dude !

    fuck izymail !

  • Cool, idk y i didn't think of going on the net :P

  • I have done this, and i can view my emails on hot mail, but for some reason i can not reply to emails as the keyboard does not come up.......any ideas what I have done wrong???

  • oooooooooh, was having a moment..have sussed it xx

  • i got the same problem how you solved it?

  • ok, maybe my friend is having a moment too...but he cant figure out how to reply to his hotmail...would you be willing to explain?

  • omg the answer was right there in front of me thxz man kick ass desktop btw

  • how do you IM? thats really what i want to do...if you can find out, tell me.

  • you can download a free app om app store called im+

  • Zach677,

Excellent tutorial, thanks very much Cheers!!

  • Thank you very much. I got what I wanted easy way :D

  • You guys didn't even think to use Safari to check your e-mails, how stupid are you guys?

I'm not for Izymail but I want to be informed of every new e-mail on the go hence the e-mail feature on the iphone with the use of Izymail.

  • Duh!!! Omg had itouch for a month and ive been missing sleep over this dilemma XD hahah solved!

  • holy jesus people, in safari, sign in to hotmail and save your password. Then hit the "plus" icon and "add to home screen". your done. it will take you less than a minute to do. hooray.

  • Thanks Zac, very logical. I kinda feel abit dumb not figuring that out for myself.

Cheers from a new british mate.

    Alex

  • Logical indeed. It took me awhile to figure out too, but then it hit me like a ton of bricks. I had already searched youtube for an answer, and out of a grip of videos, not one was talking about doing this. That's why I posed this video.

  • Hey man, simple way of putting the obvious but thanks :)

I did it this way and the hotmail screen does not appear, its like white screen with hyperlinks to my mail, i can still access them but it isnt the same as your screen....

    any ideas?

  • I thought u meant shotgunning BEARS!! HAHA=P

  • The new 'Live' mail does not work - you can't type in replies or scroll. It used to work as your video but if they haven't 'upgraded' your account yet, they soon will - then it will no longer work.

    Isn't that nice of Microsoft?

  • go onto the mobile msn site, and from there go to your mail account

    Fuck sakes

  • Mobile MSN? Oh yes - and let's all get WAP enabled phones too.

That might have been acceptable 5 years ago but most of us want more than plane text.

  • Unless you are talking about aviation, I believe you meant to say plain.

  • Thanks for waiting 3 months to correct my grammar.

Now you can get hotmail directly on the iPhone isn't this totally irrelevant now?

  • omg thnx alot

  • You're just genius!

  • Thanks M8

Great Video, i totally agree with you about that stupid izymail thing its totally rediculouse they need to advertise more and actally get a lisence.

I have also found that an evey quickey way to access hotmail is to go onto google on your itouch and then typen in "MOBILE MSN" Then when you get to the login page just bookmark it - its not as good for seeing pictures but good for browsing mail really quickly.

Thanks Man - Ur a legend

    Rock n roll

  • i don't see why everyone thinks its so difficult to get on hotmail on your ipod touch... who cares if you have it set up with the mail app.. as long as you can access it should be good right...

  • use mobile mail. It's even better

  • Is there anyway to get it to remember your email and password through this method??

I can't seem to get it, help!

  • Yea when you are at the log in screen just check the box were it says 'remembers password' and 'remember this email address on this computer'

  • wow ppl havent thought of that yet... helloooo if u can go on the net y cant u go on hotmail... gotta be pretty stupid to not have thought of that... the trick is to have hotmail forwarded to your iphone... not having to use web browser lmfaol UR A GENIUS

  • It works OK, but do u know of any other way to do this? I like the mail app a lot and its much faster than your method (no offense) I personally haven't found anything so I ask out of curiosity. Thanks a lot for this vid! :D

  • There is no other way to do this. Such is the reason for this video. I have heard rumors that something might change in the future, but has not been verified.

  • there are other ways but its hit and trial. In some methods u only receive hotmail but u cant send email through hotmail account. This is done through Cydia apps(freepops & mobileTerminal)

There is izymail, but F that!! what u could do is(if u really depend on Hotmail)to get a hotmail plus account. You have to pay for it

($20/yr)& last time i checked it was only 4 US. Which sucks since i live i Canada. But what i heard was that Hotmail will provide pop3 service even to free accounts next yr...

  • 2.00 - 2.24, Exactly what i thought! i was starting to thing the whole world was friken nuts. everyones giving izyware theey're password!

  • Thanks:

Now my wife can check her email on her iPod Touch and not in my Mac...:)

    thanks again!!!

  • guy on youtube has a wife....lol

  • thanks man, nice idea. nevermind the haterz.

  • thanks big time!!

  • thank you so much man it worked great

  • thanks, very useful and worked brilliantly.

  • you rule man !

  • stop hating this video he says hotmail dont work in mail and thers fuck all you can do.. just set it up on safari once then add an icon to your home.. its that simple

  • This video was a complete waste of my time! No one wants to have to go through Safari to check email on his/her iphone or ipod smart guy...

  • I'll tell you what was a waste of time; you writing this response. Of course we don't want to use safari, but as I said, it's the only way. Jackass.

  • It works perfectly and I also though the same thing as you about giving information to a un-secure source.

  • u r a hell lot MORE STUPID THAN I THOUGHT!

we rather use the MAIL FUNCTION in itouch than using safari. USING ONLY THE MAIL FUNCTION enables us to c if there is any new e-mail wifout even touching any key. STUPID!

  • Really? Not sure if being called stupid from a moron really counts for anything. Of course you would rather use the mail function. As I said, that is not a POSSIBLE option for hotmail. Pay attention you fucking retard.

  • i thought of that, but when I go I always have to enter my email and password. When I had it save both and I went to the hotmail webpage my ipod would keep loading the page and have to keep resending the information. I eventually had to clear the cache, cookies to get in.

  • that happened to me too. for reasons unbeknownst to me, you cant save your info. you have to put it in fresh every time.

  • no you cant forward hotmail to gmail baanhza, it doesnt work.

    thanks dude, btw!

  • Hey, you know what you can actually do. Just create a Gmail account or something, and then forward all your hotmail emails to your Gmail account and that works too. that way you can use the MAIL option on the iphone. Just figured it out right now after i watched your vid. hehe..

  • you dumb how to use mail application

  • There's no such thing as an iTouch ;D

  • u rock man!!!!!

  • HAHA non jailbroken!

  • This is just opening HOTMAIL through the Safari browser. How about showing something that shows how to integrate it into the Mail App on the iPhone...

  • yes you can do it that way but isn't there any way to use the mail app ??

  • holy crap thats so stupidly easy why havent i seen this

  • your right in every way!! its safe, easy etc and the izyware thingy ...prob unsafe. thanks alot man!

  • Its kinda common sence to open hotmail trough safari why make a video of it?

  • hey there, i have the itouch. but whenever i go to msn it always takes me to msn mobile. So any ideas how to get it out of mobile and into regular???

  • knob

  • Thank you! This is a much smarter option than the Izyware route and it works wonders. I saw tutorials of people doing the Izyware thing on Youtube, and couldn't believe the douchebagery before my eyes as people typed in their e-mail passwords to this site. =P Thanks again!

  • This is common sense. What a waste of time.

  • Thanks dude ; )

  • wats shotgunnin a beer?

poppin a hole near the bottom and drinkin it?

    wats fun about that?

  • You pop a hole in the can without opening it, then you cover the hole with your mouth and pop the top. When you do it "shotguns" the beer out of the opening. Kinda like using a beer bong. Hard to say what's fun about that. I guess it's a party thing. Try it. It is actually alot of fun.

  • lol, wow, i guess it sounds like fun, might try once i get cans instead of bottles xD

ima try findin sum vids on youtube

  • Thank you so much! Hah, I feel really dumb at how simple that was. I guess we think that because there is a mail app that we need to do this crazy and complicated process, when we forget that we have the internet and can access it there just as easy! Haha, i'm lucky I saw this before I tried that whole Izy thing! Again, THANK YOU!!

  • i agree with you man and your way does actually make alot more sense, i think the whole thing with izymail and "having" to jailbreak your ipod is the fact that people dont just want to use there hotmail on there touch but they want it to coniside with the actually mail.app but like you said this IS definitly safer, and ive heard stuff about izy mail starting to charge so well see, thanks for vid!

  • when i go on it keeps on going into the mobil version how do you get out of it?

  • just to let u know, izy is safe but it costs money so it sux. AND anyone who dosent hack their ipod touch is a fing retard, IT SUCKS ASS if u dont jailbreak it.. Thats all, have fun

  • yh but now you cant just press the mail app icon to get emails u have to gon on safari to get to ya email, you are right n it is helpful. But it just not what i want still thanks is thats the only way to get hot mail...

  • You did help.

    Thanks dude ; )

  • how did u get that cat clock for vista gadgets?

  • right click on one of your other apps and the gadgets screen will come up. Then in the lower right hand corner is the option for "get more gadgets online." I found it there. I think it's called kit kat clock.

  • best vista gadget know to mankind

  • thats what i do man, its logical enough but i was looking for something that i could run off the mail.app but oh well and also there are a bunch of pros if you do jailbreak or hack w/e no need to get technical now

  • thats a shitload of junk mail!!!!

  • thanks man it works

  • thanks man. i didnt trust that izyware shit.

  • Very Helpful Thank You..

  • Fucking american bullshit

  • dont give me that izymail bullshit it doesnt even work half of the time. unless you have some thing better.

  • Dude, your the stupid one for thinking that its going to take your email account. The world is turning to web 2.0 EMBRACE IT! DON'T BE A HATER NOOB!

  • Fuck the haters, they are stupid. You are logical! So therefore you're the smart one!

  • =\ its not working for me man

  • LOL anybody stupid enough to give your password shouldnt have an ipod touch, or know how ot buy one! what dumbasses there gonna get spamed and shit

  • zac677, don't listen to the hating assclowns. Most people have already found this solution, and they were mainly just looking for a way to have the iPhone mail app recover their mail for them. They're only angry because they didn't find what they're looking for. It's a good guide for anyone who didn't know.

  • You're stupid, everyone knows you can view it though Safari, the problem that every user is having is to view it through the Mail app on the iPhone. So far Izymail is the only free way without redirecting your email. Although Izymail only works for a trail period

  • I only put this up because I hadn't seen any other video's talking about using safari to access hotmail, and as easy as it is, people have actually found it usefull. So take your insult and shove it up your ass.

  • "Anybody Sttttupid enough to give out personal information like that online.." Almost everyone has done this including me and I have not experienced not one bit of trouble with my personal information. And the problem with accessing it via safari, is that it defeats the purpose of the mail app in the first place. The mail app has a nice user interface and a lot easier to use than safari. And by the way Apple lied to you because microsoft is releasing their mail app with the iphone in June.

  • With respect you're just viewing your hotmail via Safari as you would for ebay, facebook, myspace or any other website requiring a login. The issue is how do you add hotmail to your actual itouch 'Mail' without the need for hacking?, so you can see from the home screen icon that you have mail.

  • you can't. I was told by apple that microsoft has no plans to release hotmail for the itouch/iphone. maybe in time, that will change.

  • I know it's a pain, it can't be done by just forwarding mail either as hotmail won't forward to yahoo or gmail addresses which the itouch accepts.

  • I think you need a mail account to send pictures and sounds and such. I'm trying to send picture messages, and it always prompts for a mail account. I know the browser is a safe way of getting into your mail, but thats about it. I guess you could sign up through a provider on the list they give you (yahoo, aol, etc) thats another option. Cool shotgun btw ahhahahah

  • U right Man....

  • I book marked it when hotmail was working. But then after that it doesn't work. It tries to open my account, but then it jumps back to the log in screen, and then automaticly tries to open again, but it jumps back to the log in page again, over and over...

  • this happenes because you tried to save you password and email address i had the same problem. to fix it what i did was go to settings > safari > and then i cleared history cookies and cache. it shouldnt happen again as long as you dont try to save your password into hotmail's login page

  • thanks a lot
