I was 10 years old and I played the grooves off this record. My sister had had it by the first week. While all the other boys were listening to hard rock this is what I retreated to. I still can't believe my parents couldn't tell I was a baby homo.
My favorite song since 1973 in Los Angeles, where I was doing my Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at University of Southern California. I used to hear this song in my car radio. A terrific love song for the one who is missing one's love.
1973, the year I graduated high school...I have always loved this song. It brings back happy memories and just hearing this song brings a happy smile to my face. The singing, harmony, music...all of it makes me want to get up and dance.
Earliest AM radio memories for...forgot how emotional this song really is especially the AAWW Ooo's at the beginning and the break, they are so perfectly timed!
I was on board ship in 1975 after we evacuated Phnom Pyn cambodia and Saigon vetnam I heard this most beautiful song and it made me so sad after whatr we had done in veitnam. We let them down terrifly.
My auntie Wilomina asked my Uncle Raybert that same question in 1975..when they was hauling him off to jail for slugging that fat woman in the supermarket...good music bring backs the memories
when i was about 10 the radio played the heck out of this song, always wake up to 7;30am when will i see you again every morning , i thought to myself what the heck same thing every morning, but you know i didnt mind it all ..great song .
Hey! This is HOT!!! These soul songbirds have are really singing this and not pantomiming it like many shows use to set the talent up for. ooooo weeee good.
DAY UM, the message is clear and this sounds so good!!
Another timeless piece to be ever so grateful for.
@amerocker It was Shelia Ferguson on lead vocals with Valerie Holiday and Fayette Pickney. This is the classic lineup of the group that sung all of their major hits in the mid-70s. Fayette left in 1976 to focus on her education and was replaced by Helen Scott, who was an original member back in the 60's along with Fayette. Valerie was recruited to join in 1967 and Shelia left in 1986 to go solo.
Today, the group continues with Valerie Holiday and Helen Scott performing.
@mistermisterxx Sorry, buddy - I can't resist. 'Two m's'? Need to go back to school - the letter 'N' appears twice in Mannish. Also; you have the apostrophe in the wrong place - where you have placed it would mean it takes the place of a missing letter or it belongs to 'm', both of which would make no-sense... Come to think of it...
Now, write it out a hundred times - if it's not done by sunrise I'll cut your balls off.
I remember as a young kid staying up late night to watch the late show with Boston's Frank Abrucsh. He used this song as the closing sequence of his show.........Priceless !
Whoever was the stylist on this video should have been shot for putting The Three Degrees in those ugly mannish suits!
To see how it's done right, search for the YouTube video of this song with 988,000+ views which shows off The Three Degrees to beautiful classy perfection (and what an innovative 360 degree circling shot throughout the song, with the ladies just imperceptibly leading the camera! - never seen that done before).
Well, I do agree with your comment about the "slutty outfits" of today, but you've got to check out the YouTube video with The Three Degrees in elegant evening wear doing this song with a full orchestra while slowly rotating 360 degrees on barstool chairs in a concert club setting.
This is REAL msic NOT the crap we hear on the radio today. OLDIES LIVES ON FOREVER. ..... I wait to hear music brought back to meaning as it was back then .
@Brad81980 Unfortunately, I really doubt real music will return. See there is a dumb-ing down of the population occurring. Worse is the fact that it is on purpose. To add to that, is another fact that immorality & anger is promoted at the same time. So until Hollywood and government is cleared of progressive liberals (democrats)? We are stuck in despair. See - votes do count in more ways than you can imagine. And I don't have to tell you that years ago blacks were TRUE Christians.
@raremark yes you are so right but not only from them also from diana ross and the supremes or sister sledge. i'm now 46 so i grew up with that music and i love it, but the music i like the most is from michael jackson the jacksons and the jackson 5. i'm a die-hard-fan from them and i never thought michael was guilty on abusing children. he loved them only and wanted to give them what he missed in his youth: a good childhood! he was acting like a mother would do with her children
@minoeke7 I am 2 years older than you and agree with your statements 100%. Actually I think it was The Supremes who changed forever the image of the girl groups and 3 Degrees, Sister Sledge, etc. followed their lead. In reference to the Jacksons I remember skipping school in Chicago and taking the Greyhoud to Gary, Indiana because I wanted to meet them. Of course it didn't happen but it was a great adventure and I love them and the music until today.

@randyross I think she's Sheila Ferguson, with Valerie Holiday and Helen Scott. They had many line-ups.

Lovely live or at least prerecorded vocals, especially the ending section of the lead vocal. Sweet and expressive and lovely.
