Silent Hills 1 and 3 were the false memories of Cheryl to deny the fact that her father died in a car crash. She uses them as a coping mechanism. The doctor is trying to "shatter" her false memories, hence the title.

I have the game it's not to scarey i haven't ran into any monsters yet but .It's not so bad it just freaked me out when i took a picture of that ghost kid and those alienes there was three of them but.I haven't got far on it I play it with some cheats still so that's why i'm watching it and my name is melynda and this is my mom's side.

NEW THEORY: All the people Harry encounters in this game are just hallucinations. They're all actually the therapist, which is why they always question Harry. Also, this entire journey is a hallucination that Harry had due to madness. It could possibly be related to an experience of being in SH, but still.

@WinterSoilder Apparently my theory turned out to be wrong - I never completed the game before I created it - and apparently, it's much, much deeper than I'd previously thought.

@benkai343434 No worries for spoilers, I'm getting ready for my 6th playthrough of it. Yeah, it's VERY deep. It may be a retelling/alteration of the first game, but I think it's the best story since 'Silent Hill 2'. What makes sense about your previous comment tho, is that she's actually imagining all of this while in therapy. Meaning the questions Harry is being asked could be what Kauffman is asking Cheryl atm. Like when you fall asleep w/ the tv on a dream about what's onscreen.

@Shadowshurt It's due to one of two things; White Claudia (a drug) is causing Harry to hallucinate -very badly- so that everyone he sees is actually a monster, and that he can only see them under certain conditions.

Or; It's because the town that Harry is in isn't 'Silent Hill', it's a nightmarish mirror of the town. The only other humans therein are those who have become trapped there, akin to Harry.

My guess is Harry has a phone because he isn't Harry and there is no Cheryl. That's why he's in therapy. He has delusions that he's Harry Mason from the Silent Hill game.

This game was a revamp of the series. This isn't a carbon copy of the first game, just based on it. This version of the story takes place like present day.

You may have already figured this out but if not you can make the audio from the phone calls come through your TV speakers by pressing "1" on your Wiimote and then going under the options menu. It should be the bottom option.
