@B2Bvenusdoom This may be too late or you may still be considering it, but something you really need to know about beagles is that between the ages of about 5 to 8 they can experience life-threatening problems with their inter-vertebral discs. Ours nearly had to be operated on, but thankfully some meds sorted it out. However she was in excruciating pain and lost all strength in her back legs (she's slowly recovering now). This problem is not uncommon and there is nothing you can do to avoid it.

He's 10 months and still is not fully potty trained. Start early with training and use food because THEY LOVE FOOD. Watch out for obesity issues.

@B2Bvenusdoom If you get an easy natured pup and take it to obedience training classes, they'll help you build a strong relationship with your pup that will help you keep them behaved later in life. I think beagles are of good size and breed health for a first dog, but they can be really energetic and spontaneous until they get used to your schedule and handling. good luck!

Actually the training goes smoothly and easily, my beagle had me fully trained in about a year! Seriously, they are very stubborn. They are smart, but they like to play like they don't understand what you want. It's not really their fault though, they were bred to be relentless trackers and to tune out everything but what they are focusing on. A beagle will probably NEVER heel on command, and don't expect them to stick very close off leash, they LIVE to smell stuff. I love em!

You need to be firm, because the can be very stubborn, especially at the beginning!

Puppies are so cute, but really tiring too! They destroy everything!! (Shoes, blankets, chairs..)

Anyway, after two years the get very quiet and sooooo sweet!!

@B2Bvenusdoom Beagles are amazing dogs. They require a lot of time and attention when they are puppies, and you need to be consistent with discipline. They are very smart dogs and extremely loving. I warn you they can be quite the terrors for the first 2-3 years, but then they will calm down when they get older. Beagles are easier than other breeds in my experience, and they are also healthier. I don't suggest getting a puppy if you live in an apartment though, but an older one should be okay.

we had a Beagle, Cooper...he passed away suddenly...but he was the best dog I could ever imagine....smart, loving and sophisticated. Stubborn to a degree but he wanted to make you happy. Many a snuggles! Miss my baby boy!!
