@2groomers i think we need to stop using this line, as any historian will tell you Saint Peter was the Patriarch of Antioch and actually only went to Rome to be put in prison, and martyred. Saint Paul however, did serve as overseer (Bishop) in Rome. Therefore is any See is the greatest, it Should be The See of Antioch or as it is known today - The Syriac Orthodox Church

After peters death, the remaining apostles conglomerated, together with the new ones and those who had joined and given places of prominence. Together they decided "Linus would be the next Pope, (st.Linus) Rome had then been chosen for it's centrality of the modern world, where the Empire was, and where peter was indeed martyred, 'Anacletus' succeeded Linus, after death..etc
