  • I don't think I have any videos from all state but I do have me singing long black train

  • Cool, My deepest note is his too. :D

  • can i take him home to be my husband? how many guys can seriously do that? i know very little.

  • how can you hate a wonderful voice like this? o.O

  • wow... 3 ppl must be on their period or somethin, to dislike this

  • @Dicemann555 i know right. they have been enlightened.

  • u guys need t listen to softly and tenderly the last note is insane

  • i have the upper part of his range and a little higher but wow that bass

  • Seriously, I'm horribly jealous of this guy's voice. If I was that deep, I wouldn't even sing, I'd just woo every woman by strutting up to them, and say, in my lowest possible voice, "what's up, baby", they'd all be putty in my hands XD

  • @NWpowerhouse85 If I had that voice I'd do the same thing lol

  • The tenors may make the women swoon, but the BASSES bring 'em home.

  • how rare or "unrare" is it to have a vocal range like that?

  • @david640 Not extremely rare for a pop singer, because they can use notes that classical singers cannot use well.

  • I can actually match his voice pretty well for the most part

  • la cancion del 1.44 cómo se llama??

  • @bobpmw es way down south, creo fue de su primer album.

  • Wow. The fact that he's comfortable on those B1s and can still pull out a G4 in full voice without too much trouble is pretty damn impressive.

  • @Saskatchewan17

    I agree.

    B1-G4 is his real range.

    He is a good pop-bass.

  • and he uses his voice for silly hillbilly music ??

  • i have almost a 5 octave range 0.0 :D

  • i have a question maybe someone can help me im not sure what my range is i think im a Bass-baritone but im not sure...... im not sure what notes im hitting im new to singing thank you

  • voice doesnt match his face haha

  • hes a beast! :)

  • He's using falsetto in the 4th octave. He's nothing special.

  • @h4xpwnag3 Funny. Nothing special. I'd like to see you hit the low notes he hits. And he does it consistently in his performances. Trust me, not easy to do.

  • so sexy!!!!

  • Does he hit any good high/low notes on his new album?

  • Yes there are I'm gonna make a new video

In friday pay check he does a F4 and short G4 and in falsetto a C5

    And in I wouldn't be a man he sings a C2 --> D2

On this album are many high notes but not many incredible low notes.

That's a pitty cause I think his low range songs are the best

  • His low notes are the best I've ever heard! Looking forward to hearing that C2.

  • Oh yeah by the way, that first clip is C#2-Eb2. There's a short C#2 before the D2s in the second one too.

  • @rockytenorbanjo hey, I got another low note from his new album: In "I'll be there" he does a D2 or C2, dunno exactly^^, at the end. Appreciate your work because it seems very exact and I always wanted to know which notes he hits^^

  • @StageHolder in wouldnt be a man, on the album haywire, he hits some awesomely low notes.

  • totally TOTALLY agree with you.

  • Oh yea and us SC boys just do it better!!! Josh was born and raised almost 50 miles from me.

  • I can hit every note he sings in this clip. I have been a bass 2 since I was 15. I have heard from so many people that I sound just like Josh Turner. I sang Long Black Train when I was 16 at Desert Theatre for my church I'll get the video from my dad. And for those that want to talk crap I got 1st in the state at the 2005 All State SC Choir look me up.

  • @S10sittnonRVM22s Well, lets hear it. Don't just say it, spray it! So to speak.

  • Just when i think i'm getting close to Josh, i hear him bust that G4. Nice.

  • I know he´s great, but this isn´t 3,5 octave range. According to these clips, he´s 3 octave straight (or 3+5 semitones with falsetto). But with falsetto, I´ve got a range of 4 octaves + 9 semitones (A1-F6) so that isn´t anything to brag about. But I still think he´s a great singer, something that isn´t equal to range.

  • this guys nuts r so far down lol

  • Very sexy. Bummer he's straight. Oh well.

  • Lolololol. And married huh? :P

  • yummy.....

  • im 16 yrs old and i can hit a high G and a low E how many octaves is that?

  • Sounds impressive.

  • hey i got videos of me singing just about all of his LOW note songs except king of the road cuz i dont got that song but yea i sound alot like turner

  • so whaddya want..a medal or a che...why are you looking for attention here...go join a band and show your talent... then dont blow your own horn let others blow it for you. thats how to make it country music

  • That is such a funny comment! I am sure Sterban, Tim Duncan and Trace Adkins would be rolling on the floor.

Love this video and love Josh's sound. Thanks!

  • Well toneddef, when these guys earn one million dollars per concert as Luciano Pavarotti used to, then you may have an arguement.

  • he has an amazing range

  • I wish I could have that range and sound as good as him at the same time

  • dude... this guy has a seriously amazing voice !!!

  • A low bass can belt G4 better than I can... gutted...

  • Why count the B4 when measuring his vocal range? All men can reach at least E5 in falsetto.

It makes more sense to count G1 -> G4 which makes 3 full octaves.

    Totally unfair.

  • @Jouwl men can reach even higher than a E5 in full voice, check out mark slaughter...that man has a 4 octave range not this guy

  • @snowcuzccc

Greatest range Ever ... Roy Oberson

  • I so love how rich and full his low notes are

  • i don't think it matters what the octave is his voice is still pretty impressive

  • The F4 is in head voice i think, not falsetto

  • @CC01 The male version of the head voice is called the falsetto. Men don't have "head voice" as you like to call it.

  • You're wrong.

  • @CC01 Please, I beg you, prove it to someone who's a vocal major.

Try your best to prove me wrong. I can bring you tons of sources, my friend, including years of personal experience.

    Kthx, kid.

  • It's been a controversial topic for many years within vocal pedagogy. However there's no way it could be the same. For example, are you going to state that the softer tone of a singer like Jason Mraz (which is head voice) is within the same vocal register as the Russian countertenor Vitas uses ? Give me a break

  • I think you're counting wrong.

    G1-> G2 = 1 octave

    G1 -> G3 = 2 octave

    G1-> G4 = 3 octave

    G4->B4 = 2 notes ( it's a little less of an octave)

So that makes 3 octave and 2 notes

  • G4-B4 isn't 3.5 octaves, but his total full voice range is only G1-G4. It sounds like he has room for more on both ends, but the extent that has been proven is those three octaves in full voice, with a bonus of the B4 in falsetto.

  • ummmm NO ONE CARES

  • @rockytenorbanjo wat does all this mean? can u explain?

  • The B4 is falsetto, remember.

  • Some notes sounds like a burp... lol

  • Wait til you're 30, that's when it really counts. At least in the opera world.

  • shut up

  • dude thts cus ur 13 i ustu sing saprano now i sing bass or baratone and im olny 17

  • makes a change to hear a new young voice that sounds like a man.also check out gypwin

  • whats the lowest note that someone must be able to reach to be called a bass?

  • That's a good question. From what I have been told, both the baritone and bass ranges end in the second octave as being able to sing in the first octave like Josh does is rare. Someone told me that E2 and below are like officially considered to be "bass" notes, but I haven't actually read it for myself.

  • It's not the range, it's the sound that count's. But I think every bass should be able to reach at least an C2, but even baritones can reach that. Most basses have their lowest ontes in the 1 or even the 0 octave,

  • I don't listen to much country, but he has a really nice voice. I really like his low notes. From the last note he sings here, I bet he can go higher than this. He probably has a four octave range. I just wish the notes showed up as he was hitting them in the video. I don't know what software people use to do that. I'm glad I found this, though cause it is hard to find a dude that can sing this low and it sound good.

  • Yes he has a good voice and he sings really good.

The software people using are "Microsoft Movie Maker" you can edit videos with this software

  • @Miguelito203 An artist known as Barry Carl (Rockapella in the 1990s) has a fabulous deep voice as well.

  • What is the name of Josh's gospel CD

    mentioned by rocktenorbanjo

  • i'm sure he can can go higher than that , his high notes seems to be comfortable, maybe he could reach a Bb4 in chest and Eb5 in head voice

  • Maybe he could go higher.

    He has a huge range.

But sometimes he sings from the B3 or C4 also in falsetto

  • Hes a great singer. and he has great gospel.. thank God there are decent singers like him, alan and george still left

  • he's hit a c2 i think

  • dude, you're retarded

  • whats that song after the first part of firecracker called??? its great!!

  • You can see all the song titles.

The song is called: Softy & Tenderly

    A traditional gospel song

He does this song on a gospel collection CD:

Amazing grace : a country salute to gospel ; vol.3

  • She is OBVIOUS a bass

  • His Tessitura/Tone/Timebre/Territory is Bass, possibly Baritone.

  • Dude, definitely bass.

  • That is Josh Turner. So, you are Bass also right?

  • Eh, more of a bass-baritone I suppose. I am only 15 (though I turn 16 very soon) years old though. I sing bass 2 in all of my choirs, but I struggle to hit some of the lower notes around D2.

  • Well, you are still a boy and you are not true Bass yet. You see, I could sing my low notes very well when I was your age. I am a Tenor.

  • Then you are one strange tenor then.

  • i can hit every note on here and i am 16 years old =) i have the lowest voice in my choir

  • Record it, and share it with others.

  • Seriously, that's not possible at 16 to be a True Bass.

  • Yes it is possible...

  • sometime i will have to record myself singing so i can prove it but i just get really nervous

  • it is possible just rare i am 17 and can get the D2 and be heard in the other room and get up to A6 and be heard after A6 i strain though and it's not to clear

  • thats funny cuz my speaking voice is lower than a d2. i can only go up to a middle c before my voice goes out. but i can go lower than the piano

  • i don't get it what does that hafto do with my comment?

  • not really anything i was just kind of adding to what you said about being able to be heard in the other room..thats all

  • ahhhh right ok gotcha

  • i've only been able to hit the D2 for about a week now lol. my highest note is F#6 without straining lol... keep wotking and you'll soon be at 5 octaves lol

  • I can hit the C2 perfectly in One Woman Man :D

  • Agh his voice is sooo hott hahaha

    And he's soo adorable!!!!

  • God damn I love Josh Turner :D

    Amazing!

  • I would love for him to serenade me personally right before I go to bed at night. That would be heaven!

  • i saw him live at the grand old opry, i was blown away, my family and myself had never seen him before, we just fell in love with his voice and performance!

  • I love his voice; He's like the Barry White of country music, with the low voice!

  • My God this man is amazing.

  • Amazing voice! That said, I sang with a guy in college with a very similar voice...not as pleasing to listen to by any means though. Josh Turner in my experience is a Baritone with a huge bass-like range. I say bass like because lets face it, while the low notes are cool to listen to, they aren't full voice. Microphone technology mixed with a very smooth vocal fry at the break.

  • ...the rest of what I wanted to say...

Still, he is one of my favorite male country artists because as a bass I love trying to sing those high note with him. I'm usually into my own falsetto earlier though...like just above middle C. Awesome compilation, stars on their way!

  • Actually I thought the same thing... I can't imagine his low notes are that relaxed coming from a baritone chest voice... sure I might hit the C2 also but very weakly and it hurts my throat, I say the same - he mastered strohbass and erased the break.

I'd like to know how to do that D:

  • Me too! As a Bass, I don't really need it. I'm pretty comfortable down to Bb1 in chest voice...I can do it infrequent down to a G1/A1...and then I'm fried down below there...or strohbass as you describe.

  • i can get about an F when it comes to notes

  • I can a D2 but like you said, it's weak. I can sing right along with Josh on most of his songs though. especially early in the morning. lol

  • um yea he dont fry buddy. i have seen him live. it is all chest voice. i mean his talking voice is deep. he is a legitamate singer. he dont fry

  • what the fucking perfect low!!! Gosh

  • If you listen to Elvis, especially his gospel, you'd really be impressed.

  • 4 octave range

    :|

    So unfair.

  • i love this vid cuz it has all of his deep parts and high parts together. lol btw i sit here and hit all of the notes on this vid and hopefully i get a camcorder for christmas so i can prove it to u all but thanks for posting!!

  • my voice is just like josh turners. my dad knows our local radio host for country and when he introduced me he wanted me to sing and record josh turner songs and then release one on the radio on april fools day to see if people would notice and when we broke the news it was me lol.... wow was i popular in town but i have been taking care of my voice for years thats why its as deep as his.

  • I would give ANYTHING for his voice.

  • everybody talks about high tones, but the low tones are very difficult too

  • Wow, what a vioce.. wonderful

  • way down south hell yeah but i cant find that vid on youtube nomore oh well

  • He's got quite the range, love it!

  • If you honestly think that than you need to listen to bad news by johnny cash. Sorry but johnny cash has a lower voice by far.

  • I know the song 'bad news' .

That is very low song of Cash.

But I think Josh is more powerful in his low notes, and his voice is still growing

  • hey wats the song called at 2.52 where it goes come home ??

  • On the right side of the video, you see all the names of the songs.

The song called Softly & Tenderly

  • wow ur right, i didnt realize how much range he had in his voice

  • Randy Travis has also that low voice.

THey should make a CD togher or someting lke that.

  • Yes they should, but I have some songs (live) they do together.

Long black train, deeper than the holler, king of the road, on the other hand and

    your man

  • I'm only 18 and I sound exactly just as deep as Josh Turner...but my voice isn't southern though...if it was I'd probably sound just like him.

  • Record yourself sometimes..... and share with other people, there also someone else on youtube who has exact the same voice.

  • Thank you for replying.

  • the g1 is probably growled but the a above that is full voice. im curious to hear how low josh turner could really go, southern gospel basses get that low and dnt sound as smooth as he is

  • whats johnny cashes register?

  • I know that there is a whispering A1 from 'Cash' see the JOWOX videos for the good B1's. I don't know his high notes.

  • Johny Cash was nowhere near JT

  • you're right !!!

I'm glad you think the same

  • Aw man, I would give ANYTHING for his voice.

  • if you listen carefully, the A1 and G1 are actually growled notes, not full voice.

  • I'm not 100% that the G1 and A1 are full voice, but his B1's and C2's are pretty strong so I think he can actually sing a G1 and A1 in full voice but not really strong

  • i think i could do this .. and a lil higher

  • i'm related to the original singer of King Of The Road, Roger Miller.

  • and a B1

  • i can go down to a D2 and C#2 if i practiced i could probably get the C2

  • i love the way you organizrd the notes thankyou

  • He's got a beautiful bass-baritone voice!

  • how old is josh turner? he looks mid 20's in that photo but he sounds older

  • Josh turner is now 30, but in "Don't mess around with jim he is 24/25. Way down south -WOuld you go with me - lorreta's lynn he is about 27/28 and on the rest he is 29/30.

I don't know the age on the live recordings

  • wow, I wish I was able to go that low. many many people can go low, but not only a few can go that low.

  • *high, my bad.

  • I can go down to D1, believe it or not :-)

  • ok, I can hit a C6 in head voice. Last week I found out I was a tenor and not a baritone. kinda mad because I always thought I could go really low. but whatever.

  • I don't wanna brag, but I told you you were a tenor some months ago...Do you remember? You said you were a baritone and you couldn't go down to an E2, and I told you that if you couldn't then you were definitey a tenor :-)

  • no. I said that I hit an E2 once. and it was a lucky shot. aside from that, it took me over 50 tries to get that low. I went that low again last week. but that's because I play with my voice all the time. that's probably why my falsetto has gain 4 more notes. lol. I mean. I thought I was a baritone cuz chances were, I really wasn't a tenor. But then, now that I have a tuner, I've been able to keep track of my voice and I've been talking to every1 on YT and they can all go lower than me.

  • Still I was the first to tell you you were a tenor :-)

  • whatever, do u wanna hear me hitting an A6? I'll hit it right now and give u the link. =0

  • kinda sad because I'm in love with low notes.

  • Barriton or tenor...you should master what you have and you will find the audience. But once again - be very good and be passionate, don't look at the others which are just different. Do you know David Phelps maybe? He's a talented and gifted tenor with perfect balance and passion. That's what you're looking for:)

  • C6 or C5.....C6 is soprano high C....you have one helluva head voice if you can hit that.

  • Thanks for making this vid! I'm definitely a Josh Turner fan and I've always wondered about his range.

I'm putting this video in my favorites. :)

  • great video!! Josh is probably a bass-baritone, his low C.s are not as strong as a bass would sound them. The G4 clips was also impressive, a 3 octave full voice raneg for Josh, sounds like he can go a few notes higher. there are not so many country singers around who shows off a great vocal range. garth goes from E2 to A4 but he is not close to 3 octaves.
