  • WhAT the FUCK camera man!!! Pictures noone can put on the net... only chance for millions of people to see those pics. and you film Matt talking about them, only showing Matt.... Nooooooooooo

  • hahaha... cameraman high

  • Dumb cameraman!

Film the damn photos! I wanna see them!

  • I never heard about you before today. It's amazing what you've done, thanks for sharing this great experience. I think you must write a book or some kind of a diary and publish it, people can get inspired from (like C.Mccandless for example) and I'm sure you have more to tell about those trips and people you met.

Btw, I don't know how people can dislike your videos, I think they are jealous, that's all.

I hope I can do the same thing someday, visit lot of places and get to know different cultures.

  • You're amazing, Matt <3 Your videos inspired me to take a study abroad trip from California to Paris, where I am now. Thank you.

  • Matt, if you go to Peru, please go to Marcapata, to dance in front of the colonial temple in a Quechua town. There is a good road ´transoceanic highway´ to this town.

  • You should visit Sri Lanka and dance on top of Sigiriya! Excellent.

  • come to IRAN

  • Beautiful stuff! Loved it! Thank you for inspiring us Matt!

  • Where is video 1?

  • Mat come to Kazakhstan some day!!!

  • I wanna dance too!!!! Come to Brazil again!! =D

  • Ждем тебя в России

  • Considering this is a few years old, did anything ever come out of the potential Canon sponsorship?

  • @thecolorabove apparently he got sponsored by CAA based in Los Angeles.

  • Awesome stuff

  • Maravilloso.

  • That incident in Athens was just.. typical. Stupid greeks.. And i'm one of them -.- But i'm not stupid.

  • *Really* educating.

  • Its very cool you do things like these speaking engagements. Just think about the people you have inspired to "dance" to their own tune in far off lands...great stuff.

  • Great Lecture...interesting and amusing at the same time. Matt really seems like a fun guy to hang out with and have a beer. Keep on that stuff like it very much!

  • this part around 12:40 makes me bit ashamed to be Greek ... I honestly feel the need to apologize... really apologize Matt... and to the rest ... not all greeks are like that... Honestly ...

if I had seen you there... I would probably dance with you ... and kicked the hell off that stupid security guy...

    Again... I'm sorry...

  • truly an inspiration :) thank you.

  • Truely amazing story.

  • His dance is actually quite refined now

  • Comment removed

  • Sorry for what happen in Greece... I hope next time you come here you will not face any stupid people again...

  • If you're still on the lecture circuit, please come to Xavier University in Cincinnati!

  • I laughed at the part on Canada. I live in sherbrooke close to burlington. I watched all 3 videos of the conference, this is very interesting.

  • Matt's a pretty cool guy, eh, dances at Parthenons and doesn't afraid of anything.

  • i wish i had more money

  • That was AWESOME! Incredibly interesting! FASCINATING!

  • i think i speak for everyne when i say WE A´WANT A DANCE 2010!!!!!!!!

  • DANCING R ILLEGAL IN GREECE. D8<

  • You mentioned in your lecture that you like islands, so as long as you still have the travel bug, my suggestion would be for you to visit the Azores Islands. Google some pictures of the Azores and youll see how beautiful they are.

  • Matt,

Your videos and story have inspired me more than you can ever know!!! Watching your videos literally brings tears to my eyes, so powerful and so much emotion captured. SOOO much different than the 9-5 drudgery that we all end up wasting our lives with! Just because we are too afraid to go out there and DO IT like you did.

I will be leaving this Sept for a big 6mo trip around the world. You have inspired me more than you know!!!

THANK YOU MATT!!!! YOU FREAKING **ROCK!!**

    :-) :-D 8>)

  • Good Luck man! Tell me about it when you get back!

  • I wonder how many people could just walk into a room full of people and ask if they wanted to dance with them, and have most if not all of the people agree to it? You've got one heck of a huge following with you Matt.

  • I also want to do what matts done, not the dancing videos, but travel to thoose far out places like antarctica, and the WW2 wreckage. Im 16 and hope i can get the money to do this one day

  • This would sure beat schoolies! (or spring festival or whatever they call it in America)

  • i wish i coud be like you

im only 12 but i think im never gonna get a cool adventure thingy life like you,

i will propobly just stay here in the netherlands all my life :'(

  • You're just 12. That gives you plenty of oppurtunity to "steer" your life to one that involves travelling!

I'm 21 now (also Dutch) and kind of regret not going to study/work abroad. Maybe I should give it another chance, even at this point it's very possible.

Of course, travelling just for this kind of fun is a lot more difficult to pull off. :)

  • if that's what you believe, then that's what will happen. Think creatively, you can do it too!

  • do your dance in Latvia!

  • i live in scotland and seeing the dolphins is new zealand reminded me of when i went kayaking with my dad and we went around a pinilula and there where 2 metre waves and when you went up you would see a basking skarks fin and then you go down the wave and you dont see it and then come up again and after a while you get close enough to go down the wave and see the shark above you inside the wave and its really cool

  • poor you, got arested for dancing, but then they realized you were american XD

  • I am inspired to create a dance of my own. Thanks Matt.

  • Watch the whole lecture too. I'm totally impressed and hope that your work will inspire others. Great videos!

  • Your a hero. 'Nuff said.

    Yoruichi

  • Just finished watching, worth every minute. Great lecture, and great dancing videos. You've really done something great that'll probally live on for a long time. Congratulations!!!

  • Best Hour Spent of my life :)

    Brilliant Watch...

  • You're the best man ! Maybe we'll dance together some day soon :)

  • You are the best man, I admire you!!!

  • just finished watching the 3rd vid of your lecture and i have to excelent. im sure its been said to you before but in your talk you say you would really love not to have to go to work again. you should go around not ony the US but the world giving talks on your travels and how you did it and such, i know i would love to get you to ireland to have a talk in my uni.

  • Same here. Sydney, Australia.

  • and sunnie coast australia

  • BRAVO

  • amazing to see that u not just took a funny video out of a world tour!

well done...looking forward to see another great video and hope that we will hear a lot more freaking stories like all these which where represented here!

this shit brings fun to the viewers the dancers and even to poor kids in rwanda....like that so much!

    5* for the whole lecture!

  • good point on missing canada. should have hit banff, jasper or some of the trails near ontario/ mb.

  • GO TO SERBIA, MONTENEGRO, OR BOSNIA!!

  • Only his lifechanging trip around the world. No biggie.

  • You are amazing.

  • Sarcasm doesn't work on the internet, kinda sucks.

  • no it doesnt

  • just an amazing story

  • lol.. do you honestly believe its a hoax??

  • wow how can people be so naive. why do you think it has to be fake?

  • ZOMG 12:00 am Jan 1st, 2009

  • Canada!!!!!!

He ended up dancing in Montreal and Vancouver!

  • Shame you didn't came to Denmark. :(

But it's alright. Nice to hear about the videos from yourself.

  • I find it funny that the third part of this lecture has more views than the second

  • omg i saw that straight away to!

  • national geographics would be a great sponsor! they give you money you write an aticle with awesome pictures! perfect!!!!

  • Your videos make me cry like a kid Matt. Truly wonderful stuff.

  • I'm greek and the parthanon has nothing to do with our religion. I have no idea why they would care about dancing so much, probably just an asshole trying to mess with the american guy.

  • Lol I am Greek and know better than anyone that the police fucking suck.

    They are the biggest gang.

I once saw a police man doing a hweely on the freeway with his bike -.-'?

  • God I want to do this sooo bad.

  • I don't know why, but it hit me at how cool a question it is that he asked at the end. "How would you like to dance with me?"

It's not often that someone you don't know can ask you that in the sense that you just want to have fun and experience something new.

  • 16:11, thought the seal was lifting the kyak

  • You are my new hero...you live your dreams and so many ppl don't these days..Kudos Matt! U ROCK!!!

  • Dude. You're pretty badass.

This is something I've always wanted to do (travel the world) and so; kudos for actually doing it. I'll live vicariously until I can do it too ;)

  • Wow that was a really fascinating lecture! It was funny a well, I wasn't expecting that much humour but it sure proved me wrong lol.

  • I only got to say two things. Fuck Greece keep dancing away and who said dances should be a profession, dancing should be fun.

  • I am Greek so you can't call me racist. I have to say that the people of Greeks suck. Terrible people. I went to the museum with my brother and one of us poses one of the statues. They told us we cant do that. I understand if they say no flash but posing they suck.

  • I noticed the same rules when I was there. They simply see it as disrespectful to their culture. Just as Priests in any country wouldn't want you doing it in front of their pictures of Christ.

  • I took a picture with greek statues. A picture christ is a different story because the greeks well is I am do believe in christ. But we dont believe in ancient greek god and goddess anymore. So they shouldnt be uptight about it. And this is coming from a greek person.

  • ya, but some people like myself would argue that dancing in a cathedral and being scolded is just as ridiculous as doing it at any ancient place. Of course no one believes in the ancient religion...but from an atheist or agnostic point of view it's basically the same exact thing. Respect is taken too far all around the world, so don't be so hard on your countrymen.

I'm on your side with this, it was a stupid thing for the police to do.

  • Bellantoni, I also love languages and I wish you all the best while learning dutch!!

    Heel veel succes :-)!!!!!!!!!!

    Groetjes, Tineke

  • Why did you want to know this Bellantoni?

  • I'm obsessed with languages. I speak Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Portuguese. I could make out the meaning in Dutch through the German- in German you would say "man mit beiden beinen auf dem Grund stehen." So that's pretty cool, I think I'll Dutch next.

  • Of course....I have to translate these dutch words Bellantoni :-)

De dutch expression means "Standing with both feet on the ground".

  • very cool lecture

  • awesome!

  • You are very 'down to earth' Matt! Is this also a english expression?

  • Yes. How do you say down to earth in your language?

  • In dutch we say "Met je beide benen op de grond staan" is our expression.

  • Matt harding man u seriously need to come to canada haha :P

  • The camera-person really annoyed me after 18:00. Usually they would zoom in on the slide so we could actually see it - for some reason they stopped doing it and only focused on the speaker, or zoomed so far out that we couldnt see much detail beyond vague shapes and colours.

  • Bravo!

  • dude your the best person on utube i love ur videos so insperational

  • dang i wish u can make more videos

  • Just found this stuff - you are a true hero and honest guy.

  • i think its impossible to watch your videos without smiling.

  • did you come ecuador, guayaquil?

  • i have! it was a very great place. do you you live there?

  • How about dancing in North Dakota, it is about as far flung as you can get without leaving the country. It is also the geographical center of North America. Also native Americans can dance.

  • did you come to sweden

  • If you watch the 2008 video he's in Sthlm.

  • Yeah, and he is in Stockholm in the opening of jis Google Earth Vid too :)

  • Matt I agree alot with Octahoney's comment. If you wrote a book about your travels alot of people, including me would be happy to buy it. I can listen to this lecture many times over with great interest, would love a longer insight into your interesting travels.

  • Your voice sounds like Hawkeye Pierce from MASH

  • if you want some money then become a youtubhe partner

  • Please write a book. :)

  • As a Greek... I apologize.

  • lol don't worry, mate. it's understandable.

  • lol, s'ok dude. I would hate putting up with us american tourists too. xD

  • They looked like a tough audience during most of the video. They didn't catch all of Matt's jokes. They made up for it at the end. *grin*

  • I like many on here got really caught up in your lecture - you can definitely make a living as a speaker. I would encourage you to go with your cause of getting Americans to incorporate travel more into what's expected in this culture... I see Israelis, Australians, even Canadians our age (twenties) going off to travel for months/years on end, and when I go to Thailand for a month everyone in the US says "whoa, what for?" Changing that attitude would be amazing...

  • I am from Vietnam <3 thank you

  • You went to Palestine and Israel...what about Beirut, Lebanon!!

  • I imagine with Passport limitations that countries like Israel have put on places like Lebanon, he may or may not be able to. I guess He could get a new passport... but that would be pretty cool :)

  • Matt you should go to Lebanon! Get a new Passport and go see the cedar trees in becharre!

  • This is almost 2 years old and just now i find out about it :). Great stuff Matt, good luck in the future. I cant wait to see what you do next.

  • u didnt do canada in 2008 video..

    lol but u did australia!!!!!

  • on closer inspection, yes, yes he did. my mistake.

(also i did the thumbs down accidentally..)

  • he danced in montreal

  • like i said, my mistake.

  • PLZ,Matt dance in Nigeria!

  • este tipo si que tiene plata para viajar

  • please go to Bangladesh.

  • haha loved the end. the camera was really annoying in this part because matt was showing and talking about some really interesting pictures but the camera stayed on him when everyone was looking at the pictures...

  • I sit there till 4am too lisen all these 3 lecture .. I wasnt belive your video but now u get my attention! thats what u wanted right =p. I wasnt glad to heard that you don't like canada xD But i don't like too! Quebec rule ! u came at montreal once in the video this where i live! hope u keep going and if u see a other ghost person in the desert GET HIM OUT .. he must be dead there ... the thing he was saying to you was : help me im dieing please help !

  • I am just so amazed at these. just incredible. let me know if you need a partner :)

  • keep it up & keep it going, thats was awesome.

  • That was awesome. I watched all 3 parts and was thoroughly engrossed in them! Thanks for posting. The dancing videos are so much more meaningful now.

  • You could write a free e-book about your travels. Fill it with your adventures.

  • He already has a lot in the journal section of his website, plus has these 3 videos now.

((I too am guilty of staying up late watching these. I got in trouble for it. Gotta love parents :) ))

  • wow. i just finished watching all three parts of the lecture. and it was extremely interesting. i think you are a very intelligent and adventurous man. good luck. and i hope you get to travel to canada. XD

  • Go into Videography for world issues and concerns/ideas... i think you could be influential in that area..

  • great ending of a great lecture...

    Keep on dancing,,,

  • I loved your lecture. I got to travel across a few European countries and now you've got me wanting to do even more.

  • These 3 videos were so interesting I sat until 3.10am watching them. Video 4 should have you dancing in Scotland ;)

  • Great videos. Thanks!

  • Amazing Matt, Im a big fan and fellow traveler. Keep it up!

  • Matt you are impressiv. You should think about doing something with the experiance you gained!

Travel company for world travels and be the guide or something like it , or write a book/ebook with stuff!

  • Dude, you should think about teaching. You are a very good talker, and keep things interesting!

    Great videos!

  • Awesome, happy I watched all three parts

  • Your lecture was absolutely facinating Matt. I thought Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman's Long way Round' / 'Long Way Down' - world travel series were brilliant - your travels are equally as good. Excellent presentation. Thankyou for sharing this Matt. Best wishes in whatever you get upto in the future.

  • whats that song called you got in the video?

  • Man, you are ready for the second phase of the hippie movement. Explore the world and don't work, so you won't feed the money machine of the US government...

  • u should do more dancing in norway dude :)

  • Keep showing us the world Matt.

  • what an interesting guy

  • Dance in Wales dude. Swallow Falls or the high lakes in Snowdonia.

  • No, it doesn't. Your comment does.

  • Some of the best walking I have ever done was infact last year - around Snowdonia. Beautiful scenery especially away from the touristy paths. Some great roads for motorcycling too :)

  • I love the song playing in all the videos. Breathtaking is the word I see as most fitting.

  • Thanks for the fascinating story behind your dancing trips. Its good to know that yr favorite place is Dharamshala, India. one of the most surreal and spiritual place on earth.

  • When are you comming to danmark? I would love to se you dancing!

  • It seems I've met my clone? You have done and lived the life I have wanted from the time I discovered any human being can have the life they want and all they have to do is live it.

As they say, life happens while you're making plans, or Nike, just do it, and stuff happens...and the vision lives in a fleeting sunset. Thank you for keeping me "alive", aware, and my mind doing what it's supposed to do.

  • im really pleased i watched this. simply inspiring

  • Very interesting to hear, thanks for sharing this.

Matt is a really good speaker. Sounds just like Alan Alda by the way. :)

  • you are a good speaker

if you can't find a job you should go around the world giving lectures and charge $50,000 a lecture =P

  • this is a very inspiring guy! He's so cool . a real good guy
