  • What do you know, people are talking about religion?

If there was a video about 'How to make cheese' then people would would still be debating religion.

  • sorry fror calling his mum dopey

by "krishna!" i meant he sez "hare krishna" all the time.

the world is not just a little bit different from how it seems, it's NOTHING like how it seems

david icke was right about that, whateveer else you think o fhim...

there's such a thing called black magic (yes there is...) and the media world's DRENCHED in it.

no i'm not religious in any way, the evidence is there, i've investigated and studied it at LENGTH.

    NLP and all that.

  • I KNOW

    HOW MAD

    THAT

    SOUNDS.

ok, a little about Vishnu: he's suposed to be the multiple god, as shiva was the negative, and brahman the positive.

vishnu is where the christ archetype comes from, although he's not the same. he actually goes around multiplying (ie SHAGGING) and is kind of androgynous.

he represents the everyman we can all relate to, just as brahman is the 'father god', shiva is Sammael, or 'the Devil', vishnu is supposed to be everyone.

i studied this shit ITS ALL A SETUP

  • russell brand is supposed to represent the archetype of vishnu, an androgynous christ like character, the word vishnu is onomatopaeic in origin. When u brand a cow the noise is 'vishhh' so it's 'brand new' hence vishh NEW yes thats where the phrase 'brand new' comes from.

also cow 'rustling'= russell, so he's set up as 'russell brand'.

set up by his fiendish father and dopey mother.

thats why he was traumatised and turned to drugs.

    same as Amy Winehouse.

thats why he went India, "krishna!"etc.

  • This sounds like a genuine Robyn Hitchcock song

  • Brand stole his persona from Paul Foot.

  • Surely this song is just about the media coverage of pointless events? I don't get why Russell brand fans would be annoyed by this...

  • @nosgothgbr because they're thick, that much is implied in the fact they are fans of Russell Brand.

  • Truly clever people don't feel the need to try and assert their intellectual superiority by putting other people down. Especially not on the YouTube comments board.

  • @jamiewindsor blow me cock knocker. truly intellectual people don't feel the need to post such incredibly dull replys on YouTube comments.

  • the thing i love most about stuart lee is that you never really know where hes going with his jokes

  • 54 people used to deal........o for fuck sake what have I become? *PUTS GUN IN MOUTH AND PULLS TRIGGER*

  • @MrTonyInchpractice.....Yawn.

  • @MrAnthropophagy my point exactly.

  • @MrTonyInchpractice Agreed. I watch some clips from Mock the Week, and some good stand-up comics and suddenly this ass is been suggested to me, the only funny thing this guy could do is get hit by a bus.

  • @Brian88X I can certainly understand why someone desiring to see undersized musketeer scaring blankly at the camera and saying "eerrr" alot would be angered by Lee's intelligent standup.

  • Morrisey sure has let himself go.

  • @DearBossMusic ROFL NEVER HEARD THAT JOKE BEFORE, GOT ANY OTHERS?

  • @ChristopherDone

I've got some material about albert finney too if you like?

  • Russel Brand = Talentless shitbag ex junkie scum. Stewart Lee - genius comedian. Odd that!!!

  • The octopus of sound!

  • not funny but quite a catchy bit of music

  • If a comet came and killed the lot of us, in the scheme of things, it would be no great loss... Jonathan Ross.

  • his voice sounds a bit like Robyn Hitchcock.

    what a funny little song.

  • @james7300 .........................

  • Russel Brand is a bad comedian who uses big words to sound smart and the reason you all like him is because you like to think of yourselves as smart for understanding all the big words he's using. You're all scum and I hate Russel Brand and anyone who likes him or has ever met him.

  • @Tedaus5 Oddly enough, Stewart Lee does the opposite. He tries to avoid particularly long words that people don't generally know, and the intelligence in his comedy is the subtlety.

Unfortunately some people, probably including me although I indulge myself by thinking otherwise, think that liking Stewart Lee somehow makes their comedy taste valid and ''intelligent'' when in reality they miss the true humour in his act.

  • @NotSoDave I know. He says it in his book that he tries to avoid using big complicated words on stage and prefers saying things that actually mean things, unlike Russell Brand

  • How dare you like what I don't like!

  • Russell Brand's divorce.. They're all going to Russell Brand's divorce.

  • Charlie Sheen's let himself go.

  • Isaac Newton's really let himself go.

  • This is funnier now in a black comedic way.

  • i like russell brand and stewart lee

  • @doctorHOUSE Don't really see how that's possible.

  • His Comedy Vehicle series is top quality comedy. Well worth seeing the rest of the series - great stuff. Remember that programme he used to do with Richard Herring on Sunday lunchtime? - wow that was a while ago

  • Can't believe people beat me here with the divorce news.

But then I never believed it was buitter either.

  • And time for the divorce song!

  • He can do one about Russell Brands divorce soon

  • Comment removed

  • this actually sounds like a lost Decemberists song, stew is a genius

  • Didn't know Morrissey could play guitar.

  • Just mentioning David Baddiel is enough to get laughs

  • Is there a 'boring' button I can press on this page?

  • @t0mme1981 No

  • @t0mme1981 Indeed - then your pointless posts would just disappear...

  • I first watched this as a DVD extra on the second series of Comedy Vehicle and loved it. Perhaps understandably, people seem to think it's a dig at Russell Brand specifically, but for me he is torpedoing the vacuousness of "sleb" culture as a whole - and by implication the punters who shore it up with their entertainment dollars and aspire to be part of it. Sarcasm may be the lowest form of humour, but here it is taken to its highest pitch. Shooting fish in a barrel? Maybe, but still brilliant.

  • nick pynn is amazing

  • I love Stewart Lee and Hate Russell Brand & Kate Perry & David Baddiel so I love this.

  • at the very end the 'ehicle' part of the word vehicle moves slightly closer to the V, why the hell does that happen I am on drugs and inexplicable things like that make me somewhat uncomfortable

  • the octopus of sound

  • Can i just say Nick Pin is a cool dude as well ?

  • lmao "in the indian jungle clearing, p diddy is rapping"

  • stewart lee truely is a MASTER at the art of stand up comedy!!! and by all means be a fan of russell brand but don't describe him as a comedian he's a celebrity nothing more he made his choice !!!

  • I had no idea he could play the guitar and sing... fucking hell!

  • Stewart Lee has let himself go!

  • i dont get stand up, i get way more laughs from the average joe bloggs

  • @TheFlinglish they are paid to laugh ;)

  • Stewart Lee has let himself go..........on to become the greatest comedian in the UK.

  • do do do do...hindu - is genius -

  • That was amazing. Like an ascerbic Mazzy Star.

  • Not bad, but I prefer his stuff from when he was in The Smiths...

  • @reiver97 Agreed. He's let himself go.

  • @reiver97 ahaha good one too :)

  • @reiver97 Back before he let himself go?

  • @reiver97 I always thought Stewert Lee's best stuff was solo. However, I do enjoy Johnny Marr's guitar playing from The Smiths.

  • @reiver97 True, he really has let himself go.

  • @reiver97 he was in the smiths?

  • @ghosterdude Yeah, but its hard to tell because he really let himself go.

  • @NotSoDave hahaha excellent!

  • @NotSoDave really? i thought he was the guy from UB 40.

  • KD Lang's let himself go.

  • @UrsineBenn hahahahahahahahahaha

  • @UrsineBenn lol aahahha good one :)

  • This sounds like a Sgt Pepper song

  • I really like Russell Brand and I think he's intelligent enough to appreciate the genius of Stewart Lee.

  • Morrissey's let himself go.

  • Fucking hell, Morrissey has let himself go, he looks all squashed.

  • It's just not that good really is it?

  • @ITELADZ It's not jealousy. Stewart Lee could be selling out massive arenas writing simple comedy about farts and why women don't do what we want them to but he chooses to do comedy that a niche like. He makes a steady wage and likes to be on the bottom rung of society looking up at people who are more successful than him, and any jealousy you think you see is in the character he plays on stage. Watch some out of character interviews - he's completely different.

  • Katy Perry is hotter than Bridget Christie, sorry.

  • Comment removed

  • @hoping22 If we're taking personality into account, I've never really heard any of them speak or seen any of their work.

Based on purely superficial reasoning: Katy Perry is hotter.

  • Somebody should just nuke all Youtube comments.

  • Sorry. I think that Stew is a comedian, and takes the piss, nothing more. If you see more of his material, it's clear he's mocking and respecting other comedians, lifestyles, religions and even himself, at the same time.

Comedians aren't meant to be taken seriously. That's kind of the point.

Long live weird comedy. Stew, Connelly, Hicks, et all.

  • Which episode was this in?

  • cheers stewart, sent me right to sleep this. got bored out my mind listening to this fella

  • @oasis4ever92 did such a good job at sending you to sleep you had time to make a half arsed comment about it?

  • Russell Brand's comedy in short perfectly portrays that being somewhat articulate....doesnt make you a good comedian.

  • THE THING THAT I LIKE IS BETTER THAN THE THING THAT YOU LIKE

  • @mrcuddles100 i like

  • @mrcuddles100

i like to have the things that i like to have.

  • @mrcuddles100 Yeah, you're right. Let's never use critical analysis again.

  • Am I alone in thinking this sounds like it's written and performed by Robyn Hitchcock (who's let himself go)?

  • As I tend to put on most Stewart Lee videos, it's possible to both like the person or thing that he's targeting (i.e. Russell Brand, Top Gear) and also laugh at them. If you can't appreciate how brilliant Stewart is at his craft then you haven't much right to consider yourself a fan of comedy.

  • @ASH18YEARS No one said it's not possible. It's possible to like chocolate pizza but for some reason most people don't. I don't think that what Stewart did here was offensive in any way ....people just want to get off their chests they hate Russell Brand and I totally support that!

  • @agata521 Bit of an odd reply; what I said was clearly aimed at Russell's defence league... I know no-one said 'it's not possible', but I never knew that had to be said before you could say something is possible.

'I've found a worm hole, we can visit the fourth dimension!'

    "No-one said we couldn't..."

    'Oh, sorry'

  • @ASH18YEARS All I was trying to say is that the fact that people don't like Russell Brand has nothing to to with Stewart Lee writing a song teasing him or them thinking that by liking RB they are being worse Stwart's fans. Some people just like integrity , whether it's in their life or only on a display.

  • @ASH18YEARS yeah, yeah. What right do people who dont appreciate stewart have to consider themselves comedy fans. How dare they. People need to use the word "right" more liberally as well. We shouldn't just use it when it actually makes sense, we should just throw it around for fun.

  • @TOMS1ESSON If you appreciate stand-up, you should appreciate Stewart Lee. That's all I'm saying, relax.

  • @ASH18YEARS To each their own. Some people will never get stewart lee, some people will live their entire lives not laughing at his jokes but they will still appreciate stand up.

  • @TOMS1ESSON ... Sure.

  • @ASH18YEARS Yes, although in the case of both Russell Brand and Top Gear, you really shouldn't like either of them.

  • @FaxanaduJohn This is coming from someone who likes "Amazing Horse" and the band Devo?

  • @stnavres Thanks for looking at my profile! Unlike both Russell Rnad and Top Gear, the Amazing Horse song and the band Devo aren't contemptuous cunt bags. ;)

  • @FaxanaduJohn No problem! Unfortunately they are far worse. Have a good day sir.

  • @FaxanaduJohn It's Nick Pynn.

  • @ASH18YEARS

I am a huge fan of Comedy (if you want to reffer to such a vast subject, without being specific) and like the majority of comedy fans, i can see what a waste of BBC air time Stewart Lee is.

  • @LickMyComment Feel free to tell me why you think this...

  • @ASH18YEARS Totally agree, I find Russell Brand very funny and also laugh at Lee's mockery of him.

  • I had always assumed that comedians were supposed to be funny? Thanks for setting that straight, Stewart Lee :)

  • @mushroom1212 You're fortunate noone has similar expectations regarding youtube satire.

  • @williamwilson666 Either way, thats ok - I don't claim to be a comedian.

  • @mushroom1212 Of course, if you did you would probably have starved by now.

  • @williamwilson666 Yep, it's obviously very easy to judge how good a comedian I would be from the two youtube comments you have read. Also, starvation is quite a significant conclusion to jump to from 'bad at conedy.'

  • *comedy.

  • Stewart Lee = Brilliant

    Russell Brand = Twat

  • Russel Brand and Stewart Lee are friends, you fools. Russel would find this just as funny. The joke is about celebrity culture, its not about Russel. Stewart just uses his wedding as a subject.

  • @pushthetempo2 "Russel Brand and Stewart Lee are friends, you fools." Evidence please, because I strongly suspect you're full of shit.

  • @reiko082 hmmm stuggling to find evidence. A friend told me this, and he's pretty trustworthy with this type of thing. but maybe it is bullshit. haha!

  • @pushthetempo2 Yeah Lee's brilliant spiel on Brand's Big Brother racism disclaimer would suggest they aren't greatly enamoured of one another.

  • @jrichardson4mvp yeah i have seen it, and you are most likely correct. but dont you reckon comdian friends have a dig at each other on stage. Especially Lee, im sure he is impartial to Russell Howard and Noel Fielding but he still mocks them in the latest series of comedy vehicle.

  • @jrichardson4mvp russell brand admitted on one of his radio shows to be a great admirer of stewart lee's, and one of russell's friends (trevor lock) used to be heavily involved with lee & herring's various projects back in the 90s. i don't think stew would do anything like this in a mean-spirited way, he's not that kind of bloke. they might not be great friends with each other, but i'm sure they have a mutual respect for what they both do. russell is a movie star and stew is a comic genius.

  • @pushthetempo2 Fair enough, but articles in the Scotsman (01/05/09) and Telegraph (20/08/10) suggest he's not too fond of them. We'll never really know until we ask him though i suppose. Anyways, Lee' content is good, we're agreed.

  • @reiko082 Yeah the mans a genius! Untouchable in his brand of comedy. (excuse the pun)

  • I love Stewart AND Russ.

  • brand, and anyone that likes him is a cunt.

  • Didn't he used to be in The Fine Young Cannibals? - let himself go a bit mind.

  • My lord, one day there'll be a Stewart Lee video that isn't full of comments basically about how far up their own backsides most of his fans seem to be. The man's good, Russell Brand's pretty good too, but do you know what doesn't matter? Whether or not you agree. Really not important. This is awesome. That is all.

  • @QueenDeaconite Why are you so bothered? Don't you have better things to do than moralizing?

  • @agata521 Lol. Yes you're right, I do and this was a waste of time. A waste of less than a minute, but a waste of time all the same. Is your response not equally moralising though? XD

  • @QueenDeaconite I did not tell you to stop I just asked cause it amazes me how people care so much about what's written under the video. are you equally bothered by the things people passing you on the street talk about?

  • @agata521 XD I'm not even a tiny bit bothered by anything written under a youtube video, I'd be concerned for anyone who was. You seem to be a bit!

  • @QueenDeaconite I am a big fan of Stewart Lee's myself, but I think that a vocal minority of his fans do indeed tend to talk out of their collective arses. These are the ones who laugh at the wrong bits, in the main.

  • @beartyincognito Rather better put than I tried. =)

  • I enjoyed this more than anything Russell Brand has ever done.

  • Russell Brand is brilliant cos he uses big words to say crude things which is genius. Either that, or people are laughing when they decipher what he's saying and when they realise that he's said something crude they get all giggly. Thinking about it, he's as funny as someone who can't stop talking about genitals. Not very, and after a while just creepy. One day he might choke to death on his own vomit. Every cloud, eh?

  • @jacksawild That's a bit extreme, I mean there are comedians I don't like either but, I wouldn't wish them dead.

  • Those who claim Russell Brand's comedy is highbrow forget that his favourite comedic topic is what he refers to as his 'ballbag'. He makes my insides shrivel with revulsion.

  • if you think Russell is a good stand up you've bought the hype. Stew sees through him with more lucidity than anyone. he's a cartoon of a comic and a joke of a person. probably won't be long before he succumbs to the old addictions again....

  • @ttasi7 which shows how very little you know about him. I think he is a good stand up but prefer his unscripted radio shows which are very funny. I didn't buy any "hype" and Im fully capable of making my own decision on the matter as is everyone who appreciates what he does.

  • @jasewildheart (some of) his radio shows are good, but that's at least half thanks to Matt Morgan. The stand up is mediocre at best, and at worst (as Stew points out) a mix of lame smut and pseudo-intellectual guff. Can you really compare Russell to like Doug Stanhope or Jerry Sadowitz? i.e. to other genuinely good stand ups? No.

  • @ttasi7 I agree that Matt Morgan certainly brings out the best in Russell Brand but if you have listened to his radio shows he dsplays a sharp mind and can come up with very funny improvised comedy. You could argue his comedy is lame smut, I prefer to think that it is funny smut.

I find Stewart Lee's comedy boring with his obvious high opinion of his own intellect and dull politics. I think Russell Brand is a good stand-up not necessarily a great one.

  • @jasewildheart well, I said he's a cartoon because he does comedy in a costume, with silly put on voices, and as a person he's become this strange celebrity entity, and these 2 reasons are of course why he makes good fodder for satire like this. so these two thoughts are still true.

There's a lot of hype around Brand, you must admit. An honest appreciation of him would say, as you seem to now, that he's a moderately talented, alright stand up.

  • @ttasi7 I think Russell Brand is certainly self aware, he makes enough jokes about his ridiculous hair and lifestyle, so to point out that he is a cartoon like figure is pretty obvious, he knows he is.

Like I said, I think he is a good stand-up, but prefer his radio work and the Ponderland shows. Theres a lot of hype around him because of all the kiss and tells the drugs etc It just happens that he is a funny comedian as well so yes it hasnt hurt his career but he has the talent as well imo

  • People like Russell Brand, Stuart Lee makes a fair point, but is about as likeable as ball rot

  • @TheEvilMonarch thats self-explanatory really, ain't it?xD

  • here are some facts about RB:

    1. married to katy the talentless trollop

    2. starring in boring so called comedies playing the same character of a worthelss moron since 2007. One word :sell-out!

    3. claiming he's spiritual when it's all only chatter really...I mean ...come on!

All I'm saying is : he deserves a proper fucking lambasting!

  • @agata521 I've come across you as a user before. But when?

  • @owenhunt i believe we've exchanged few pms back in the day.;)

  • @agata521 Uh oh... You sent me a PM a couple of months after my last PM in your direction, and I haven't replied since... I'll get right on that! Sorry XD

  • @owenhunt no biggie;) I don't recall sending you any pm moths after your last one though. Maybe it's youtube's fault .... dunno.

  • @andy59tube

And those cross sections of society are as entitled to their entertainment as anyone else.

Mindless entertainment is actually very healthy for us. Because you don't have to put as much effort into it it relaxes the body and releases feel good chemicals.

My wife enjoys reading...even about celebrities.

  • Did anyone hear the very last thing he said before the video cuts off, best bit in the whole thing,

Stewart Lee is the best comedian in britain, probably in the world, bar NON.

  • 32 people hate comedy

  • I didn't see this on the show and I watched every episode. ehat's happening there?

(although this is observational comedy I still want an answer.)

  • @FarmerHeard The old red button there. Even I know that, Grandad! Get into the 1990s, Daddio....:)

  • @MrGoneTroppo Is there more red button goodness?

  • ...and David Baddiel. Ah bathos, how I love thee!

  • This is like a lost Morrissey classic, especially the lines starting "We're detritus blowing through the final human age."

  • I love Stew's singing voice.

  • Fantastic...I personally would have prefered it though if he ended it with 'David Baddiel sinks into his Indian bed, Pulls out a snub nosed revolver and shoots himself in the head.'

  • Everyone here could write a song like that on the spot.. all the people who are loving it.. just write one for yourselves n sing it in the mirror. such half arsed comedy

  • It's not healthy you Russell Brand fans to get so wound up during your A levels. All those hormones can make you confused.
