Hell yeah it was the right thing. Look at the atrocities commited by the Japanese in the Philippines. There is no doubt it was the right thing. Too bad we cant get rid of them. you cannot uninvent something, once the genie is out of the bottle.....
The Japanese had ALREADY surrendered BEFORE the bombs were dropped. The only thing holding up negotiations was that they wanted to keep their Emperor and the allies did not want that. it was not necessary to bomb them to end the war. However, this is left out of the history books, isn't it? Hmm...I WONDER why...not!!!
@Deradune They were stalling so they could hopefully surrender to the Russians whom they felt would enot be as hostile to them as the USA had righteously had become after Pearl Harbor and the Bataan Death march.
That was not in the history books when I went to school, but I got enough sense to belive they were not ready to surrender to us without dropping the bomb.
@Deradune AWwww come on! Tthat is not an answer it's a cop out.
I am asking you in a non belligerent tone to tell me what you would have done to ensure Japanese surrender with out the bomb.
All you gave me was a non-answer. If you have an objection to a government action you don't think is moral, than you are obligated to have a counter proposal. You are objecting to the bomb just the sake of objecting.
If you don't have an alternative than you have no reason to complain.
@therohvac You refused to believe the FACT that we did NOT need to bomb Japan to get them to surrender. the ONLY thing they were holding out on at the time was that they wanted to keep their emperor and we didn't want that. They were ALREADY surrendering. No, it is not in textbooks, but it is true. You would have to do some deep research to find it perhaps, but it's just a fact.
@therohvac I also have been privileged to information that indicates to me you were not shown the whole story. Unfortunately I cannot reveal my sources. Suffice it to say I totally believe what I said. The govt is real good at shredding documents, etc. but these people REMEMBER and knew about it AT THE TIME.
@KatanaFish213 no,instead there probably would have been ww3. Since Russia would have taken territory in Asia. Russia being Communist would have made a Communist victory in the civil war between the Nationalists and the Communists in my opinion would have brought a war and perhaps another world war.
Ron Paul for president ahahaahahahah LMAO if we let him be president then we would be like japan in this situation idiot shit head, TheDennisegg.
