What I do is after leaving NWC, fly to the chests, with some manouvering you can empty them without getting killed by the dragons or the traps in the chests, getting plenty of cash and loot. Fly north into Blackshire, lure the werewolves away from the chest with Lord Kilburns shield, get the cash from there, travel by horse to Free Haven, purchase Telekinesis, Town Portal and Fly, get expert air, water and meditation. Then fly to get the obelisks and various chests, and use the Fire Lord bug.

This game is really amazing, I spent some good times leveling my characters up to level 200, but lost my save.

@tore650 Yeah, when going through with this originally I found that the "might" part of the equation was right around worthless for speedrunning compared to the "magic". I forget what "Landon Leo", the person who has since beaten this in terms of real time, used, but I'm pretty sure it was all casters as well, considering I helped him plan that. (He probably used more clerics and sorcerers instead of druids, too.)

@FrostyTheDragon kewl, I just remember that in M&M7 casters are pretty useless, I really only keep a sorcerer to cast portal and flight and all that and then I have a cleric for healing, a thief for unlocking and untrapping stuff and then a warrior who deals pretty much all the damage seeing that by the end he hits for almost 200...

@BiohazardDarknoob There is a spot high on one of the buildings that, if clicked, is a secret passage to Dragonsands.

Normally, if you want to go there this early (you WILL get slaughtered if you're not quick), you're supposed to use the Fly scroll hidden in the side of the bank to reach it, but I found a spot where you can click it at ground level.

One of the greatest games I have ever played in my life...I remember I used to keep going back to the Hive and Dragonsand and keep leveling up, and finding all the artifacts and relics I possibly could.. My highest levels ever was 350 :P Amazing nostalgic times, and I still have the original copy! Think ill go start a new game now and play it all day.

@markbakotic123 The funny thing about copyrights is that as far as I can remember, rights to the older games in a series tend to transfer to whatever other company gets their hands on the series next.

In this case, the rights to the Might & Magic series are in the hands of Ubisoft now, and I don't know their stance on the older games in the series.

@FrostyTheDragon They don't have a stance on the older games they are no longer sold, by the companies. therefore if they are not selling it how could they not expect people to try to pirate it rather they buy a mint condition of the game from some collector for 30 dollars its not worth it, i personally own 5-9 of this series because 3d0 made them, if i wanted to play this game though i would probally have to dl a version someone modded to be compatible with windows 7

@markbakotic123 I went and verified that, and yeah, it turns out Ubisoft doesn't actually sell the older Might & Magic games. (I took my example from Digital Leisure, who acquired the Dragon's Lair franchise, and Valve, who somehow got hold of some of Sierra's works - as both DO still sell them.)

For the record, if you don't trust software pirates, I did see a package of the first six Might & Magic games on GOG.com for $10. So going out to collectors isn't necessary.

@FrostyTheDragon ahhhh but that is the first 6. I doubt many computers these day s would run the first 5 at all or with many errors. U would need to use Dos Box most likely and if u have to use that u also have to download the games off the website. Oh and its true most computers have run in compatibility mode but they don't work as well as they should.

Also most people want to play 6-9 cause that is were the game became open and fun. In the earliest versions 1-3 i think u just ran through doors

I'm at Angelic reputation right now. I've done every quest besides the ones after you turn in the oracle's memory thingies. Will I be able to get up to Saintly through the game's main quests? Also, I noticed my fame going up when killing monsters. Will I be able to get my reputation up from killing the right monsters? Lastly, are there any NPCs I can hire that will improve my reputation? I know I've seen ones that decrease it, but I also thought I saw some that increase it. Thanks.

@smsjgoku Yes, it is my favorite. The tone is morally correct, a Comic - Mythic = Apollonian, being on the left side of the table by Northrop Frye in his book Anatomy of Criticism. On the left the ending is always happy. Might and Magic 7 already had a sad plot and ending.

My friend found a copy the other week and told me about it. He took me to the place and I now have a copy of my own again. Not sure how old alot of you are that've played this game, but I'm 25 and this game was STILL awesome when I played it in highschool. More games need this kinda gameplay and epicness. @LordSrh28 I've not really played M&M VI but I've always loved M&M 6-8 as my dad played them when I was a kid and I used to watch him play, I've played through M&M VII two times, never done 100% of quests though, but I don't know why I can't bring myself to play 6 and 8, only 7...

@tore650 Dude! same way for me, I grew up watching my dad play 6-8 and loved it. though I cherish 6, 7, and 8 alike. 6 was the biggest and longest, 7 was the hardest and with best story line, and 8 was the coolest, I mean 2 dragons and a level 50 dark elf in my party by level 12, of course it was too easy.

You pretty much need quests in order to raise your reputation from Respectable all the way to Saintly. Odds are, if you've already freed Archibald (which drops your rep drastically), there aren't enough quests left to raise your rep that high.

Yeah. The key is to become a dark magic master before doing too many quests. The easy way is in one of my later videos somewhere, I forget which one - Armageddon in a town.

still dont get why you dont push 1-4 when choosing where to put an item/switching characters faster to click that stat stone at secret place and using space to pick up items, gosu playing other than that

Honestly, way back when this was originally done - and I'm embarrassed to admit it - I didn't even know about those. I'd grown accustomed to using the mouse a lot and I don't even remember if the Might and Magic Millenium Edition (which is what I have for playing this game) came with any manual (besides maybe a PDF, which I wouldn't have remembered to view).

When I originally did this I basically directed the video and audio output to a VCR (that sent its output to a TV) and recorded from there.

Nowadays I use a signal splitter to send it to both a TV (a better one than in those days) and a DVD recorder.

There's a fountain in Hermit's Isle that can eliminate magical aging. I believe it's in the southeast somewhere but I will have to check again.

I watched all the 44 parts last night with two friends of mine: amazing game, my fav ever, and great speedplay! maybe there's still something to improve with temple of the moon, overall travel plan and use of keyboard commands but your work remains impressive.

in my last game I finished it in something like 80 in-game days at level 125 but i see there's much to improve :)

If you think mine's great I would recommend checking out the Might and Magic VI speedrun at Speed Demos Archive. While this shows off a bit more of the game, the one on that site, not done by me but by someone who was inspired by this very playthrough, is significantly faster.

There's a special trigger on top of the Buccaneer's Lair that warps you right to the shrine in Dragonsand. It's that shrine that grants the +20 to stats.

It's just barely possible to reach the trigger from the ground if you stand in the right spot and look up.

In the room with the goblin with the same name as the producer (JVC) there is a small box, click it=massive stat boosts for a good while, you will see some red sparkles around your characters portraits.

You have to use the scroll with a character that has magic points since even used from scrolls the fly spell still needs magic points. Then press the page up key(default).

No, it's time was after DOS. Dos was for like, Daggerfall (another great game, possible the best in the word).

Daggerfall would have been the best if it were more modable in its day. There are tons of mods for it now (or so I've heard), but it is past its prime now. Oblivion seems to be what everyone is on about these days. I will, however, always be old school: my faves are Daggerfall, Ultima Online, and Doom. Gaming didn't need to progress beyond those 3 games!

I had started MM6 at least a 50 times before I managed to finish it.

Just leveled up much too long and got bored. The lack of motivation is the biggest foe. But finally I have beaten part 7, 8 and 6(in that order).:)

Absolutely! VII and VIII were watered down versions of VI. What a LONG and deep game. Loved the combat!

The combat system lacks the ability to walk in the round based mode. That is better in the sequels.

But anyway, well patched is this my favorite of the 3 noteworthy ones(part 9 is just a big error).

Unfortunately the might classes have no exclusive combat ability(like Armsmaster)to set them really apart in combat and make them a real alternative to the magic classes. They are more of a RPG choice.

Okay, i'v played this game for 8 years now. I really need help on mastering light magic. Anyone know how to get my reputation up to living saints? keep on donation my cash to the monks?

Basically do a couple of promotion or council quests(highest reputation influence) but don't get rewarded yet. Set beacons at their doors and at the door of the master light trainer.

Donate your reputation up as high as possible then finish the quests by using the beacons, so you don't loose time, which might lower your reputation.

If you have reached the highest reputation level(angelic?), use your beacon to the trainer and become a light master.

If you go to gamestop or ebgames there should be something called a platnim pack which includes MM 6-9. cost me around 20 bucks. But that was 2 years ago your best chance is to hit up Ebay.

considering my first game in 14 years, 6 months is not so bad but its not too good either. i did a speedplay 5 years ago lasted 41 days but i want to start and try level 1 and one month game coming days. i must admit that i've learned new stuff from frosty's game. thanks in the honor of mm6 brotherhoood:)

Truely Amazing Speed play!!!

This is a very big game and you have completed it extremly fast.

Here are a few minor ways to do it a little faster:

- Use teleporter to get out of the abandoned temple

- Use teleporter at castle ironfist to get to corlogans estate (part 19)

- Better timing of the temple of the moon visit, (train 1lvl, exit, train again)

- Using lLoyds' Beacon for some small distance travels

- Optimizing travel/visiting plan (hard)
