I agree! Thanks for bringing to light some truths adout our past and present. No doubt that our people do not need a leader as extreme as Trujillo was but they do need someone who is going to give and make our country what it can be. Not another thief as we have seen ever since Trujillo's justifiable death.
dude, i completely agree with you. he used fear to get order in to perspective. he got the dominican republic out of debt after that hurricane, prevented cuba and haiti from invading, and opened the borders for cuban and european refugee's..he provided retirement, health and jobs..he was about his people but he led with an iron fist..the way a leader should lead..not some pushover in the demands of everyone else..d.r would've been a better place than what it is now..smh at people who disagree.
You are talking out of both sides of your mouth. You need to come to a decision on whether you support good or evil and stick to your decision.Every dictator uses peace, law and order as reason to support dictatorship.Trujillo was a piece of shit dictator and a criminal .You make it sound as if people have a general tendency to behave in a criminal fashion unless they are forced not to;That is not true.In a dictatorship, the criminals always work for the government.
the facts of true thats how it was los hatianos si te quedavas en tu pais no te mataban la bandera la de nosotro fue primero buen mojon learn your history do not asume shit y si he was a dictator but to rule and mantaine power some times you have to be rutles ther is hate on all races everyone is races
and trujillo killed 30,000 haitians too..we are one island..how u think u got ya'll flag? from us..a dominican flag is a ripped up haitian flag..but its allways going to be "haitians love dominicans and dominicans hate haitians" ...its all good!
I think you have to read more and more to learn about this dictator .Bloods and the streets of Albert C.Hicks it´s a book that you can find in the united states, and know about part of all his assasinations (1930-1946) the list it´s enormous until1961 ,and with this document ,you´ll go to know the ways Trujillo become a rich man with the money of the goverment.
Mr. Martinez, you are absolutely correct. There are many positive that came out of that time in our country's history. However, keep in mind that at least 43% of the population was illiterate, and in most cases people were not involved in anything that took place, as far as the political decisions that were made. Like you, I developed a curiosity towards the dictator my self at an early age, and in my research I found that people, in fact did feel a sense of security, that does not exist today.
fun fact: did you know trujillo was part haitian? p.s. is this a basic equation to what your saying? hitler= trujillo, trujillo=great, therefore hitler=great...Trjll> or = Htlr?...dominazi?
@shoryuken202 I believe that to nazis and very patriotic germans, Hitler was a Trujillo. Was Hitler great? I believe, to a point, he was an awesome leader. He basicly took Germany out of the great depression and made Germany one of the most feared and powerfull power at the time. Regardless, Trujillo and Hitler needed to come to an end.
hated him. All the rich people hated him. And if he stole money from state, it was only him, nobody else was allowed to so it was much better then. My dad, my grandmother almost everybody that was poor or middle class then had nothing but praises for him. Now Dominicans can't find a job in their own country, because hatians have all the jobs, there is no control.
@dominiparati Yes, I'd rather pay for one thief, than a whole parliament of them like we do in the UK. We could do with a guy like this in UK, to clean the place up. Democracy is something we're all blinded by, we finally achieve and then relax with. It makes us lazy.
You have to remember the place was thriving, safe and clean back with Trujillo. Not like the crap hole it is right now. From what I've read about the guy, I'd give him my vote.
