A melody of the Rosamunde incidental music was re-used by Schubert in chamber music, notably in the Rosamunde string quartet and in the Impromptu Op. 142 No. 3, in B flat major, where it is the theme for a set of 5 piano variations.
The Overture was used for a ballet sequence in the 1952 Samuel Goldwyn film Hans Christian Andersen, starring Danny Kaye. The ballet sequence was danced by Zizi Jeanmaire. (From Wikipedia)
I was named after this piece of music ! I was 2 weeks old and my parents could not agree on a name for me . My father gave my Mother a record of Rosamunde for her birthday and they loved this so much i was named Rosamunde and that was 51 years ago !!
One of the first pieces that got me hooked on serious music some 38 years ago, thanks to my then High School Music Teacher Carolyn Knight - (nee Lamb) at Punchbowl Boys' High School. She was the best teacher!
Genio!!! Excellent!!!
A brilliant piece by Schubert and he was a Vienna choir boy.Who knew such a composer who was once in a world famous choir could compose such beautiful piece!
we're playing this for sr.semsba orchestra in march : ] woot! I'm the first clarinet so the clarinet solo in the middle is all mine. mwahahahahaha...okay creepy. i'll stop
I'm playing this in my sax quartet and we play way too fast.......but it still sounds good none the less it will sound better when we slow it down....
"Schubert provided an overture and nine numbers for a play called 'Rosamunde, Queen of Cyprus'. Apparently the ballet was a flop but everyone still loved the music!" (concert program note)
This brings back fond memories. Schubert's Rosamunde was one of Orien Dalley's favorites. (The late and beloved Prof. Dalley was for many years the conductor of the Michigan Youth Symphony)

I've never heard of this fellow's music until today, and I found myself in sweet notes. The music is truly beautiful and full of life.
Each pause blends with the music, but that's all there is to it...
And yeah... Schubert is awesome indeed. ^_^

Light + airy music. Maestro Schubert loved to project beauty and it is clearly reflected in his outstanding works.

Esta obra de Schubert es muy linda y es un ballet, pero no encuentro ninguna presentación de la obra ¿Es que no existe la coreografía?
