  • 3 Persons have stupid ears!

  • the sound is a little low :( But I like it, thank you for sharing.

  • Rosamunde is totally my cousins name.. I'm gonna show this to her when she's older 8D!

  • A melody of the Rosamunde incidental music was re-used by Schubert in chamber music, notably in the Rosamunde string quartet and in the Impromptu Op. 142 No. 3, in B flat major, where it is the theme for a set of 5 piano variations.

The Overture was used for a ballet sequence in the 1952 Samuel Goldwyn film Hans Christian Andersen, starring Danny Kaye. The ballet sequence was danced by Zizi Jeanmaire. (From Wikipedia)

  • One of the first pieces that got me hooked on serious music some 38 years ago, thanks to my then High School Music Teacher Carolyn Knight - (nee Lamb) at Punchbowl Boys' High School. She was the best teacher!

  • Genio!!! Excellent!!!

  • whatever his sexuality he had has no importance, this is a person who wrote very good music. He was a genius.

  • @khl1975 Uno de los mas grandes genios de todos los tiempos... al menos en la música occidental

  • @khl1975 . He was straight ( if that's un normal these days..I dont know) Got syphilis visiting a brothel.

Franz Schubert was very very talented. If you like piano...listen to the Impromptus .

Very great to play it in a bog orchestra

  • Ben says, "This is a great piece! I also play it on the cello and was looking for guidance."

  • I'm glad that ill be playing this song in my next concert. i play the cello so this is going to be intresting.

eat proper dairy or you could have problems later

  • This is delightful! Thank you for posting.

  • So this dude, yeah... he's friggin awesome xD if only people nowadays understood the classical ear... ahh. ( :

  • This is a fantastic piece, Beautifully paced, light, simple, sheer brilliance. So glad I found it after 45 mins of looking!

  • I've never heard of this fellow's music until today, and I found myself in sweet notes. The music is truly beautiful and full of life.

Each pause blends with the music, but that's all there is to it...

And yeah... Schubert is awesome indeed. ^_^

  • I'm playing this in my sax quartet and we play way too fast.......but it still sounds good none the less it will sound better when we slow it down....

  • were playing this in my ochestra too :] only a part of it lol. but its a nice song except we don't play it as fast.

  • we're playing this in my orchestra, it's a nice light and simple piece

  • Light + airy music. Maestro Schubert loved to project beauty and it is clearly reflected in his outstanding works.

  • Esta obra de Schubert es muy linda y es un ballet, pero no encuentro ninguna presentación de la obra ¿Es que no existe la coreografía?

  • "Schubert provided an overture and nine numbers for a play called 'Rosamunde, Queen of Cyprus'. Apparently the ballet was a flop but everyone still loved the music!" (concert program note)

  • hoy se cumplen 180 años desde que murio, que triste y a la vez que bueno que todavia hay personas a las que siempre lo recordaran

  • What a lively ballet! Leave it to the Romantic composers to grant such an exciting ballet!

  • This brings back fond memories. Schubert's Rosamunde was one of Orien Dalley's favorites. (The late and beloved Prof. Dalley was for many years the conductor of the Michigan Youth Symphony)

  • I love this!
