Just a quick update, as i was saying to a few people who messaged me i had quite a bit of footage of me training but i lost it when my hard drive crashed. This was about 5 months ago so it didnt really make sense to start again. Sorry about that!
Regardless the medical officers have cleared me to attempt the PRMC. My bleep test is up to 12.7 (very close i know) 72 press ups in 120 seconds , 80 situps , 10 pull ups. I know this sounds like a bit of a lie without the evidence. But its the truth!
im hoping to join the marines after 11 months of cancer treatment and considering making a step by step video showing my preperation for it , hoping it might help others in my position, and if i fail, then maybe some "how not to tips"

PS im planning on making the video after xmas, got plenty of footage of me puking up while attempting to run
Again, you cannot compare the whole USMC to the RM's.
But a seasoned USMC infantry unit, I guarantee you, will be nearly as fit- physically- as the RM's. When I say fit, I mean obstacle course, "humping" packs 30+ miles for time, running 6 min./ mile pace for 6 to 10 miles, etc.
Where the RM's exceed a USMC infantry plt is in technical training. USMC infantry does not get SCUBA, sniper, or other training (although it's quite common to find several snipers IN an infantry unit).
Dude, I am not sure you are fully informed what you are talking about. I did 30 miles + in USMC SOI (School of Infantry). And we "ran" the whole way, too. If you want to call it running. In the US Marines, we call it humping, and the pace is somewhere between a jogging pace, and the very limit of speed walking. The first time you do it, you hate life, hate the instructors, and you hate the man in front of you every time he falls behind, causing you to have to run to catch up.
@leonwiganer US Marines pull 30 milers, but they're not timed & they didn't check our gear for weight. Also, it's not done in recruit training, but after an Infantryman gets to the fleet. In the fleet the humps or yomps could be 5 miles or 32. We averaged 20, with the occasional long haul or a short but faster 1. Trained with Royal Marines, hats off to them, great bunch of guys.
@BenAliGtor dont be ridiculous, theirs not oof that bollocks in any of the british forces training< thats only americans that do that n its a total joke
@leonwiganer BUT you wont see combat for over a year after this point because after this they get assigned to a seal team then have to do a 18month training work-up with their new team.
@leonwiganer i dont know where you are getting your info from, but bud/s is about 7 months (dive phase is included in bud/s so there is no dive school), then you have jump school, then you go to a specialty school (i.e. sniper, demo, ranger, etc) then you go to SQT which i believe is another 5-7 months, after that you earn your tridend (you are officially a seal)
oh, well for SEALs u got 6months of BUD/S then you got like jump school and specialty schools, and then you have SQT and it comes out to be 2years of training before you get your trident. the royal marines training seems pretty intense too. when you say they go for artic training, far east training, etc are they going there to learn to survival techniques or wat are they doing there
leonwiganer - you say 940 for royal marines, and 11min for seals. well do they royal marines have to do a 500m swim, pushups, situps, pullups before the run? im not trying to start an argument, im seriously just asking cause i dont kno what their physical requirements are.
@sgtstupidfreak no, they have to do the pressups, situps, pullups after they run. and it isnt 9.40, its 10.30 after a 12.30 warm up, its easy. before training i could do the run in 9mins.
as for physical requirements
1.5mile best effort - sub 10.30
pressups - 60
situps - 85
pullups - 6
bleep test - 9.6
you have to do the endurance course which you just get beasted around. if a PRM turns up and gets over 10mins on the run and less than 11 on the bleep test he wont pass, cuz its shit.
In the pre joining fitness test you do 2 - 1.5 mile runs, the first is to be completed in 12:30 you then have a minutes rest and then you run a further 1.5 miles in best effort, which has to be under 10:30.
yeah 7 minute miles in there fisrt week of training gradually gets faster, you can talk about track teams all you want you dont finght wars on a 400m running track you tool! also where is this bataan death march done what terrain is it over. try a 30 miler over dartmoor in the pissing rain.
it's amusing that some yankee americans think their USMC can even remotely compare to the Royal Marines "Commando's", the Royal Marines have won more battle honours, have stricter/harder training and are all round a more hardenend unit than anyone else and are equalled only by the Parachute Regiment and are only bettered by Special Forces ... British Forces have always been the best in the world, ironic that the UK forces also work to train other AF's in the US and 40 other countries! lol
@ajgYT09 don't compare royal marines to marines. royal marines is special forces. But if you would like to compare your royal marines to Seals, Green Berets, and recon marines then your at a lost cause.
Royal Marines are not our UK Special Forces, they are elite like out Airbourne units in the Army and are rival to them, in both ability and usability, Para's vs. Commando's. One's Army, the other is Navy. The Infantry RM are however definately comparable to Force Recon Marines ... they do the same job.
Our Special Forces are the SAS and SBS mate. It is ou SBS (Special Boat Service) that would be compared to the US Seals and SAS to 'Green Berets'. These are facts.
@ajgYT09 no there not facts LMAO! ILL GIVE YOU FACTS. ROYAL MARINES ARE KINDA CLOSER TO SEALS THAN AIRBORNE LOOL THERE NOT AS GOOD AS SEALS BUT QUITE CLOSE. SBS IS MORE LIKE DEVGRU AND SAS IS WAY MORE LIKE DELTA THAN GREEN BERETS. SFSG IS MORE LIKE GREEEN BERETS. THOSE ARE FACTS.
@WolveZGuY -- They're not facts as it is your opinion, but I made that comment a year ago, and am going Airbourne myself as I feel they suit me more, and they are elite and comparable to the RM in terms of skill, fitness, selection tests like P-Company and proficiency. To be honest I'm totally and completely past caring on this issue. End of. :)
@afterthefact15 -- Sorry about YouTube dicing up my grammar/spelling there ... I had to get the within the word limits somehow.
Research them both in your own time if you wish to make a fair comparison, but at the end of the day we will both side with our own country as we're both patriots of a sort. There is little point in debating this on YouTube, fact stands both our countries work together and are allies on Operations and especially now in Afghan*.
@ajgYT09 Yankee Americans lol.USMC Force Recon makes the Royal Marines seem like ginger beer man. They are the USMC Special Operations Companys. What you just thought the USMC just had Marines think again lol. Some compare Force Recon to the US Navy Seals.Brits speak about the book without opening it up.This is why Britian will soon fall out of the top 10 economys of the World true story.
@16x25x1 ... you commented on an already OLD 'year-old' comment and thought I'd actually give a crap about a joke like that. I'm not getting into a little YouTube debate-game, it's just easier to call you a tit. Now before you comment back keyboard-bashing, just know and recognise there is nothing you can say to make me care. Nothing at all. Bye stranger. :)
@16x25x1 Well 54% of the worlds inventions are british made (fact), only less then 10% are us made, so dont talk to us about using your website, And before you say im a liar, do some research, and you'll see.
Wow for being an "elite force" these guys look like Bitches trying out for the Girl scouts. seven minute mile? I thought the guy said faced pace over slow pace?? hmm funny becasue the freshmen track team at my old school can do three miles in 17 flat....so these commandos think there tough shit becasue there training is longer but it doesnt seem that harder. the Bataan death march is 26 miles and a USMC team can do that in 4 hours or less with 30 pound ruck so stfu
difference is, these trainee commandos (who are only in week 2 of training i may add) are doing 7 minute miles over a distance of at around 10 miles. To me thats pretty damn tough in week 2 of exercise training. You wait till month 15 and week 64 of their course! I bet you wont call them bitches cos they'd woop your arse
Nah they are bitches anyway. you need to calm down son! most people can do that shit Before they even enter out military. (at leats our Marines) and id "whoop your arse," if you werent such a bitch "arse" girl
yeah but to be fair the us marines ae just seaborn soldiers the royal marines are all commandos (apart from the band) and do a much harder course simply cause we don't have as many expendable troops as the US military.
the one who says basic training is easy clearly havent been to the army. Anyone can make it yes , but it isnt easy you must have allot of guts and be really though!
It gets really old seeing all these BS comments about, "Oh, this basic training is easy, you guys are pansies." Etc.
Armed forces are still, as their name implies, armed forces. Who cares who's tougher or whatever? Basic may be more difficult but it's what happens afterward that really counts. Anyone can get through basic. Not just anyone can make it through BUDS or any specialty school.
That's coming from an American Nuke. British or not, you're still respectable.
For a start, a "Elite GSG9 officer" that you so claim to be should not (and is a complete idiot for doing so) claim to be military personnel! Especially an officer! and the way your wrote your comment has completely got me thinking, your just speaking a total load of bullshit, you disrespectful shit. Am sorry but you've got your head so far up your own arse, that shit is the only thing coming out of your mouth, then again you are German, i feel sorry for you!
The identity of GSG 9 members is classified as top secret, You should've known that from the start, Only one in five pass the training course. i doubt for some reason that out of some miricle you would be a GSG9 Operative, And If you are, you probably just Operations staff, filing paperwork!
Once you get to comparing U.S."elite" units (Force Recon / MARSOC / FAST / etc.) with British Special Operations units, then the whole conversation goes to shit.
Its like comparing ball teams; you'll always root for your own team.
The bottom line is UK and US Special Operations units share many strengths, and have their own weaknesses. Those weaknesses tend to be in the politics and bureaucracy behind the military, not so much in the men who train and serve.
I don't know what FAST is like these days. Back in the mid 90's they were elite. I went through several schools in Virginia, including CQB school with "mixed" classes. When FAST recruiting came, nobody made it in who couldn't run 17:59 (boots & utes) or less on the 3 mile course. Three of my guys made it, and I can tell you they were athletic studs, and very smart. FAST also used to cross train with SEAL 2 in basic "kill house" drills, tactical room clearing, etc.
@redluckyhat3 they are good at cqb, but in the field when they get cold, wet and threaders they just wrap like girls. they cant perform section attacks properly and managed to screw our company attack up.
im not saying all usmc are like this as i dont know, but if they are god help us!
and they were telling us the bft for usmc is a run in trainers, 3miles to be done as fast as possible, 18mins is a good time but 24/25 mins is the average, and that is pretty slow mate.
Former infantry, close combat instructor, many other jobs. Served in North Africa and many other places.
Much of the nonesense here is very funny. Royal Marine Commandos are among world's elite, no doubt. All told, they are more selective than the USMC, designed to be smaller. That being said, a modern USMC infantry unit (not boot camp, or SOI) is roughly equal to the RM's in fitness and combatives skills.
there you go a fukin american who knows what hes talkin about ......... its about time americns learnt the fact that royal marines sas sbs is alot tougher ,fitter and alot more mentaly exaughsting than many of the so called elite american units
You need to stop jerking off so much. Maybe then, after you got all that cum out of your eyes, you'd be able to see that the USA is trying to save the world, not fuck it up like you.
from this i have deduced that you havent really watched any USMC training videos in comparison with other armies. DI's yelling their lungs out is hard training for DI's not the recruits
A bunch of mind controlled idiots, turned into robotic murderers, nothing glorified, heroic, respectable or brave about that, fighting for the bankers, who dont give a fuck about you or your family, sad to say you are all victims of brainwashing..why marines are all psychopaths?they go to fight the war of someone else, and their girlfriend or their wifes are to fucked with others in that time..the truth hurt,i know.
Good thing about USMC is that they have their own support divisions which is unique, however the fact that RMC are commando trained just beelin' rocks! joining the RMC in 3 years cant wait
lol at USMC. Don't even bother comparing the US Marines to the Royal Marine Commandos. See the difference? Your marines are just marines, our marines are commando trained. RMC training is 32 weeks while USMC training is only 12 weeks lol. Seriously the only good thing about the USMC is that there are a shit load of them and they have the best equipment. But when it comes down to who is the best trained the Royal Marines are the best in the world.
the USMC doesnt have the best equipments but yea there are a shitload of them. USMC is a combat unit while RM is a commando unit, different purposes. but yeah its pretty obvious RM has better training
dude any country's army would does can run with 30 pounds.the canadian army does it all the time, the RM prolly do it even more. its NOTHIN.
the Chinese army run with 50lb rather than just 30 in the USMC.
some gurkah units run with their pack and a jerry strapped to it.
so if you are talkin about runs,USMC is behind a lot of units around the world.USMC learns fewer weapons than CF troops in the basic training as well, who does cross-trade training.
RMC and any other british forces all do basic training which is usually 12 weeks of the basic infantrymans course and then will do so long of their chosen trade which it could be anything, if you want to be a infantryman all round then you will then learn to be a machine gunner, mortar, sniper etc... and watch the US forces training, its like being at nursery there is totally no need for some of the crap the team leaders come out with, just not relevant to the job!!
IF you read what I put I said its the basic infantrymans course the 12 weeks is, I know its bloody 32 weeks for the RMC on training but every british serviceman has to do the 12 week basic infantrymans course including drill, weapons handling, physical fitness etc etc
the USMC,as i read, only teaches m-16 in the basic training.which is pathetic...someone please tell me otherwise cuz i am not convinced that they dont teach machine guns in basic training.
I think it should be noted that this video was taken from a documentary. Not some propaganda film designed to make people think they're tough. It also should be noted that this is also one of the worst batch of recruits ever. Really. Go read the book 'commando' on which this documentary is based.
there isnt 2500 there are currently about 7000 men serving as royal marines from clerks to cooks there arent elite divisions in the royal marines once you pass 32 weeks training as every RM does you are ELITE then you put chits in to do a spec as you say quote "Your basic royal marine is a commando/light infantryman, where your basic US Marine could be EITHER an infantryman, a clerk, or a chaplain" were our cooks clerks are also trained to the commando standard
Correct. USMC "BOOT CAMP" is 12 weeks (used to be 13).
But remember US Marines in *INFANTRY* units go on to many other schools after Boot Camp, thus their "training" FAR exceeds the mere "Boot Camp" standard.
It is not uncommon for a typical USMC infantryman to have SOI, Advanced SOI, Close Combat, Infiltration, occasionally Ranger school, Mountain, and other school quals. This is highly individual, and goes with the Corps' doctrine of spreading out & disseminating knowledge.
What elite divisions are within the Royal Marines. The SBS is no longer part of the RM'S, and even when they were they were considered part of UKSF, rather than RM's. Then theres a small bunch of Mountain Leaders, who's job is to instruct other royal marines in alpine/cold weather training. Your basic royal marine is a commando/light infantryman, where your basic US Marine could be either an infantryman, a clerk, or a chaplain. Do you see now why the comparison makes little sense?
The Royal Marine is a commando/light infantryman. It is an elite unit of about 2500 men. The USMC is an entire military branch (an expeditionary warfare branch), with everything from clerks, chaplains, pilots, underwater basket weavers etc. The last one was of course a joke. It just goes to show that the comparison would be akin to comparing the entirety of the british army to parachute regiment infantry. Which is why the "my country's marines are better than yours" argument makes no sense.
Yes they do. But do they have armor, artillery, air to air refuellers, chaplains and a large logistical chain? No. Royal Marine pilots exist as highly specialized ones, carrying out specizlized tasks that fit the commando/light infantry real world missions that they do. They are not, like the USMC, an expeditionary warfare military within a military that is capable of projecting power to all parts of the globe. They are a small, highly versatile, highly trained, and specialized unit.
Look mhesi, im not into all this debating shit ya know. Its people like you that cum on here and state facts that everyone knows already, i have better things to do at the minute as im joining a troop in the royal marines on monday and im just finishing my training programme. okay now have a good life and try not to piss off too many people eh.
There are units within the USMC that are at least as selective as the royal marines. Recon marines, for example, have a 1 year initial training. Then, you have MARSOC, the new Marine Special operations unit (formerly Force Recon), in which it takes 5 years of experience to apply to, and 2 years of training. That is two units in the USMC that are more selective than the RM's. But comparing an average Marine grunt to a RM commando makes little sense.
shut up you fucking moron, i said what i had to say. Just piss off will ya. if your that far up the americans arse then why dont u stick to their videos.
Why are you getting your pantes in a bunch? First you write bullshit comments, and your shocked at my reply. Then you write a "lets all be friends" comment, and then tell me to fuck off again. All I stated were facts. The USMC is not better or worse than the Royal Marines. Two entirely different organizations trying to accomplish a different goal.
why does comparing them not make any sense? these marine commandos are not any special type of royal marine, everyone does this training. There are elite divisions within the royal marines so compare the elite US divisions to those.
Why? Because Royal Marines are commandos and light infantry, that number about 2500 and have a 60-70% washout rate in training. The USMC is an expeditionary military, with everything from Chaplains to pilots, to infantry men, and numbers 190,000. It's like comparing the whole of the British army to parachute regiment infantry. It doesn't make sense.
The brits lost approximately 60 men in the initial invasion, and the US lost aproximately 100. Considering the US deployed 250,000, and the British deployed 40,000, the vast amount of territory and cities the US had to take, then one would say 60 British KIA is a whole lot less impressive to the US' 100 KIA.
Im not going to debate anymore, I respect the USMC fully, they do a great job, were on the same side guys, i'd like to think we'd all get on but even you americans must agree, there are a few fucking arrogant cunts, not most of you but some, that spark debates and arguments, and yes some british do to. But at the end of the day we have got to trust eachother with our lives, now shoudn't that be worth a thanks??? Well i say thankyou to all serving and good luck to you all.
Well my question is this. If you believe all of what you said, than why do you come on here and insult your allies and make comparison that make little sense?
A Marine woman could fucking destroy you with her bare hands, and can definently hang with the male Marines. US, Chinese, UK, Phillipine Marines may all be related as brothers *more like cousins since different country* but nothing surpasses the USMC. USMC>ALL dont believe me hit me up with a private message.
Im in the british infantry and i trained with the "rock hard" usmc they walk into rooms wen they "storm" a buildin there fitness is shite the pvt's anyway n the women sound either like a fully pledged lesbian or a innocent highskool queen im sory mate but u might hav the gear but the british r far better trained ur 13 weeks is nothing the royal marines train 32 weeks wen i entered the army as a junior entrant i dont 42 weeks training usmc r funny guys but i just dont see how they r the best?
If you trained with female Marines, you didn't train with our infantry. There are no women in our infantry units. You trained with basically qualified Marines, not our ground-pounders.
Im hittin u up pal, you yanks think ur all that, the royal marines are the best of all military standards FACT.Dont Try to compare 13 weeks of basic training (same as the navy mechanics do approx.) To 32 weeks of the most intense training in the world, loser.
cloums, USMC boot camp is 13 weeks. All Marines, from Chaplins to infantrymen must go through this. USMC infantry grunts then go through another 9 weeks of training at Marine SOI (School of Infantry). The USMC is an expeditionary military, not a small commando force like the RMs. If you were judging a units ability by the length of it's initial training, than your SAS with it's 22 week selection and training, would be near the bottom.
Mate you think you know what your talking about, but you dont. mhesi our 32 weeks of training is basic training even though it is highly advanced. then we move on to specilisations of which some can take up to 2 years. Im going to specialise as a pti so my training altogether would take me to approx 62 weeks, could be less, i dont know. And yes we may be a small commando unit, and the USMC may be a big one, but were by far the best, now doesn't that say something...
I do know what I'm talking about. After the 32 weeks training, you get put into a troop. You don't start specialization until 2 years later. The USMC is not a commando organization. It is an expeditionary warfare unit, not meant to be the equal of highly selective royal marines. It takes 22 weeks to train a marine rifleman, (13 weeks of which is boot camp). The two organizations are completely different, and a comparison makes little sense.
@mhesi The Corps utilizes Navy chaplains. No direct commissioning whatsoever in the USMC: even its judge advocate officers are not part of a distinct "JAG Corp", but are commissioned after either OCS, PLC, or USNA graduation- and are still required to undergo six months of TBS. Same for ANY Marine officer, irrespective of assignment.
BTW....the physical training director when I was in OCS/Quantico was a Royal Marine NCO. One tough, stand-up individual. I'd have him covering my back any day.
'Kill islam'? I think we've found the problem with the world... oh, and just so you know - USMC has NOTHING on the Royal Marines. Never has. Never will. Never can.

Show some respect man, ALL Marines are brothers as I said before. You guys are all good, US and UK Marines, you all have good training but combat wise I dont think you size up to the skill of the US Marine Corps. But physically youre in as good of shape I believe. And we have the best snipers in the world, WE trained them, you guys cross train together as joint excersises.

USMC infantry does not get SCUBA, sniper, or other training (although it's quite common to find several snipers IN an infantry unit).
redluckyhat3 1 year ago
@leonwiganer

@leonwiganer i dont know where you are getting your info from, but bud/s is about 7 months (dive phase is included in bud/s so there is no dive school), then you have jump school, then you go to a specialty school (i.e. sniper, demo, ranger, etc) then you go to SQT which i believe is another 5-7 months, after that you earn your tridend (you are officially a seal)

oh, well for SEALs u got 6months of BUD/S then you got like jump school and specialty schools, and then you have SQT and it comes out to be 2years of training before you get your trident. the royal marines training seems pretty intense too. when you say they go for artic training, far east training, etc are they going there to learn to survival techniques or wat are they doing there
sgtstupidfreak 2 years ago
@sgtstupidfreak survival, bushcraft, map and crap..everything just in a different surounding
meatyspudpies 1 year ago
how long is the royal marines training?
sgtstupidfreak 2 years ago
so for their PST they do a 3mile run, then do a 1.5mile run?
sgtstupidfreak 2 years ago
leonwiganer - you say 940 for royal marines, and 11min for seals. well do they royal marines have to do a 500m swim, pushups, situps, pullups before the run? im not trying to start an argument, im seriously just asking cause i dont kno what their physical requirements are.
sgtstupidfreak 2 years ago
@sgtstupidfreak no, they have to do the pressups, situps, pullups after they run. and it isnt 9.40, its 10.30 after a 12.30 warm up, its easy. before training i could do the run in 9mins.
as for physical requirements
1.5mile best effort - sub 10.30
pressups - 60
situps - 85
pullups - 6
bleep test - 9.6
you have to do the endurance course which you just get beasted around. if a PRM turns up and gets over 10mins on the run and less than 11 on the bleep test he wont pass, cuz its shit.
critchley17 1 year ago
@critchley17 what if I can get 9.03 on the 1.5 miles but suck horribly at the bleep test, only maybe getting to around level 8? would I fail?
locsaretheshit 1 year ago
@locsaretheshit you need 9.6minimum
and that would be frowned upon
you better be good at pressups
critchley17 1 year ago
@critchley17 well I have a while before I have my physical tests. I have my psychometrics tomorrow at 9 am.
locsaretheshit 1 year ago
In the pre joining fitness test you do 2 - 1.5 mile runs, the first is to be completed in 12:30 you then have a minutes rest and then you run a further 1.5 miles in best effort, which has to be under 10:30.

it's amusing that some yankee americans think their USMC can even remotely compare to the Royal Marines "Commando's", the Royal Marines have won more battle honours, have stricter/harder training and are all round a more hardenend unit than anyone else and are equalled only by the Parachute Regiment and are only bettered by Special Forces ... British Forces have always been the best in the world, ironic that the UK forces also work to train other AF's in the US and 40 other countries! lol

@ajgYT09 u guys have no spirit so STFU
yandykun 1 year ago
@ajgYT09 don't compare royal marines to marines. royal marines is special forces. But if you would like to compare your royal marines to Seals, Green Berets, and recon marines then your at a lost cause.
afterthefact15 1 year ago
@afterthefact15
These are facts.
ajgYT09 1 year ago
@ajgYT09 no there not facts LMAO! ILL GIVE YOU FACTS. ROYAL MARINES ARE KINDA CLOSER TO SEALS THAN AIRBORNE LOOL THERE NOT AS GOOD AS SEALS BUT QUITE CLOSE. SBS IS MORE LIKE DEVGRU AND SAS IS WAY MORE LIKE DELTA THAN GREEN BERETS. SFSG IS MORE LIKE GREEEN BERETS. THOSE ARE FACTS.
WolveZGuY 1 year ago

Those weaknesses tend to be in the politics and bureaucracy behind the military, not so much in the men who train and serve.
redluckyhat3 2 years ago 13
@redluckyhat3 FAST are far from an elite unit
i just did a 4 day excercise on sennybridge with them
they are pretty bad soldiers, and they wrap in the wet and cold
critchley17 1 year ago
@critchley17
FAST also used to cross train with SEAL 2 in basic "kill house" drills, tactical room clearing, etc.
redluckyhat3 1 year ago
@redluckyhat3 they are good at cqb, but in the field when they get cold, wet and threaders they just wrap like girls. they cant perform section attacks properly and managed to screw our company attack up.
im not saying all usmc are like this as i dont know, but if they are god help us!
and they were telling us the bft for usmc is a run in trainers, 3miles to be done as fast as possible, 18mins is a good time but 24/25 mins is the average, and that is pretty slow mate.

US Marine here.
Former infantry, close combat instructor, many other jobs. Served in North Africa and many other places.
Much of the nonesense here is very funny. Royal Marine Commandos are among world's elite, no doubt. All told, they are more selective than the USMC, designed to be smaller. That being said, a modern USMC infantry unit (not boot camp, or SOI) is roughly equal to the RM's in fitness and combatives skills.

lol at USMC. But when it comes down to who is the best trained the Royal Marines are the best in the world.

omg another ignorant "omg USMC kicks ass" kid
dude any country's army would does can run with 30 pounds.the canadian army does it all the time, the RM prolly do it even more. its NOTHIN.
the Chinese army run with 50lb rather than just 30 in the USMC.
some gurkah units run with their pack and a jerry strapped to it.
so if you are talkin about runs,USMC is behind a lot of units around the world.USMC learns fewer weapons than CF troops in the basic training as well, who does cross-trade training.
plarules 3 years ago 4
try doing 90 miles in 2 days with over 60 pounds on your back. as did the royal marines in the faulklands war.
Reaver910 2 years ago
RMC and any other british forces all do basic training which is usually 12 weeks of the basic infantrymans course and then will do so long of their chosen trade which it could be anything, if you want to be a infantryman all round then you will then learn to be a machine gunner, mortar, sniper etc... and watch the US forces training, its like being at nursery there is totally no need for some of the crap the team leaders come out with, just not relevant to the job!!
mattbea2007 3 years ago
RMC basic is 32 not 12.
Seany06 3 years ago
IF you read what I put I said its the basic infantrymans course the 12 weeks is, I know its bloody 32 weeks for the RMC on training but every british serviceman has to do the 12 week basic infantrymans course including drill, weapons handling, physical fitness etc etc

there isnt 2500 there are currently about 7000 men serving as royal marines from clerks to cooks there arent elite divisions in the royal marines once you pass 32 weeks training as every RM does you are ELITE then you put chits in to do a spec as you say quote "Your basic royal marine is a commando/light infantryman, where your basic US Marine could be EITHER an infantryman, a clerk, or a chaplain" were our cooks clerks are also trained to the commando standard

stridskuk90 3 years ago
they probably only train so much because they never have a chance to put their training to use.
2Pac515 3 years ago
@manickode

Do you see now why the comparison makes little sense?
mhesi 4 years ago
please explain this comparision, mate! because i don't understand what you mean, cheers!
SharpyU2 4 years ago
The Royal Marine is a commando/light infantryman. It is an elite unit of about 2500 men. The USMC is an entire military branch (an expeditionary warfare branch), with everything from clerks, chaplains, pilots, underwater basket weavers etc. The last one was of course a joke. It just goes to show that the comparison would be akin to comparing the entirety of the british army to parachute regiment infantry. Which is why the "my country's marines are better than yours" argument makes no sense.
mhesi 4 years ago
and the marines have pilots, armourers, chefs etc
shambosse 4 years ago
Yes they do. But do they have armor, artillery, air to air refuellers, chaplains and a large logistical chain? No. Royal Marine pilots exist as highly specialized ones, carrying out specizlized tasks that fit the commando/light infantry real world missions that they do. They are not, like the USMC, an expeditionary warfare military within a military that is capable of projecting power to all parts of the globe. They are a small, highly versatile, highly trained, and specialized unit.
mhesi 4 years ago
Look mhesi, im not into all this debating shit ya know. Its people like you that cum on here and state facts that everyone knows already, i have better things to do at the minute as im joining a troop in the royal marines on monday and im just finishing my training programme. okay now have a good life and try not to piss off too many people eh.
columstuartduffy 4 years ago
columstuart, I think there are more keyboard warrior internet royal marines on youtube than there are in the actual corps.
mhesi 4 years ago
There are units within the USMC that are at least as selective as the royal marines. Recon marines, for example, have a 1 year initial training. Then, you have MARSOC, the new Marine Special operations unit (formerly Force Recon), in which it takes 5 years of experience to apply to, and 2 years of training. That is two units in the USMC that are more selective than the RM's. But comparing an average Marine grunt to a RM commando makes little sense.
mhesi 4 years ago
shut up you fucking moron, i said what i had to say. Just piss off will ya. if your that far up the americans arse then why dont u stick to their videos.
columstuartduffy 4 years ago
Why are you getting your pantes in a bunch? First you write bullshit comments, and your shocked at my reply. Then you write a "lets all be friends" comment, and then tell me to fuck off again. All I stated were facts. The USMC is not better or worse than the Royal Marines. Two entirely different organizations trying to accomplish a different goal.
mhesi 4 years ago
why does comparing them not make any sense? these marine commandos are not any special type of royal marine, everyone does this training. There are elite divisions within the royal marines so compare the elite US divisions to those.
BigBrit66 4 years ago
It doesn't make sense.
mhesi 4 years ago

The brits lost approximately 60 men in the initial invasion, and the US lost aproximately 100. Considering the US deployed 250,000, and the British deployed 40,000, the vast amount of territory and cities the US had to take, then one would say 60 British KIA is a whole lot less impressive to the US' 100 KIA.
mhesi 4 years ago
Im not going to debate anymore, I respect the USMC fully, they do a great job, were on the same side guys, i'd like to think we'd all get on but even you americans must agree, there are a few fucking arrogant cunts, not most of you but some, that spark debates and arguments, and yes some british do to.
