This song, along with Husker Du's Eight Miles High and Red Hot Chili Peppers' Subterranean Homesick Blues were always my fav trio of great punk covers of 60's folk-type songs.

Louisvelle KY must have magic in it's water. So much good music has come out of there in the last three decades. Saw these guys opening for Big Black at what's Schubas now in Chicago. Very nice guys. Loved being a kid in the mid 80's in the midwest!

@Nuckatron It's not a matter of right or wrong. anyway I heard the original and and this verison, have you? is having an opinion is wrong? I just didn't dig this version.

@JagrrrTV yeah, I've heard both. And no, having an opinion isn't wrong - but that doesn't mean opinions can't be bad or wrong. The original is four minutes too long (opinion). You liking the other version more doesn't make it better (fact). Furthermore, liking or disliking something doesn't detract or add to it's quality (fact). the best version of this song is the live one on Gunfight From Carnegie Hall. It rocks HARD. First punk song ever recorded in my opinion.
