You're very wrong, distortion and background vocals are completely different things. DIstortion is what is applied to the sound to make it sound fuzzy and distant. It's what puts the "insane" in "Insane Lullaby." So please stop acting superior because you're hipster and you think you know more about a song than other people do. First of all, you don't, and second of all, that's not what music is about.
