  • Hitchens is a total fuckin badass.

Presses the elevator button, then takes the stairs.

  • yoo that was awesome music for the ending----these dudes are more G than those idiots runnin around with baggy pants

  • ha, if you close your eyes and just listen, its just a hype fest for yet another rational ownership of sensibility (i.e christianity IS bad for the world) but if you read all the text that isnt a subtitle,.. its obvious a media savy (american) god nut made this.. prove me wrong please..

  • 3:42 - Is this an attempt to reason that reason is unreasonable? What kind of pretzel is this guy's mind tied into? If reason cannot be relied upon as the basis of a discussion then there is no discussion to be had. Mind boggling.

    Hitchens FTW.

  • nothing wilson says makes any sense whatsoever.

  • @equallyeasilyfuqyou What Wilson says is actually simple if you've ever studied Plato you'll see the understanding of a universal code of ethics that is present in an a priori status in every human. Sure, Wilson's language isn't the most clear, but the arguments he presents are not nonsense at all. Hitchens cannot answer the questions of Epistemology and how we can condemn the action of Hitler or Stalin without a standard. How can we comprehend a crooked line if we haven't seen a straight one?

  • If Wilson is saying that every position is a faith position than by that statements logic it negates itself. As that very statement holds no merit by it's intrinsic circle he just mentioned. All positions are faith based, but they are not equal. Through testing and life experimentation certain ones are deamed to be good determiners of truth and others not. regardless of how they initially came to be used, it is how they work that matters.

  • What’s your proof that God doesn’t exist?

What’s your proof that pumpkins aren’t the only living organism with triangular eyes?

  • What’s your proof that God doesn’t exist?

    E=Mc Hammer

  • @TABOOVSKNOWLEDGE You can't touch that.

    LOL.

  • What’s your proof that God doesn’t exist?

Priest that tie up & rape little boys two at a time & a Nazi Pope that covers it up!

  • watch it at this site for free - 999 Full Movies . com

  • 1000 Movies Free . com has this

  • it's the battle of the minds!

  • @renaudldw & the lack of.

  • i've never seen anyone who misunderstands the concept of reason as fundamentally as that guy with the beard.

he says that trying to give a reason for defending the concept of reason is circular reasoning...?

    geez

  • @peaceric Yes, the Reason Bible!

He also said: The mind is like the mouth, designed to close on something.

Retarded! Isn't it interesting that, if in a court of law, Christianity would be in contempt?

  • if god does exist why not show himself & make believer's out of even the most hardened skeptics?.

why is he still letting disease, hunger, rape, murder, genocide happen on a global scale?.

the arguments for god are very flimsy & the reason i find them just abhorrored is you never hear a new one, its the same argument re-phased over & over again.

as a famous quote said - most people would destroy the evidence if the evidence destroyed their god.

  • "if god does exist why not show himself & make believer's out of even the most hardened skeptics?"

He already did. See the life of Jesus Christ recorded in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. And what happened when Jesus proclaimed to be God (John 10:30), He was ultimately crucified.

So why would you expect the results to be any different today? In fact, Revelation tells us that many will still reject God even after the two witnesses (Rev 11) and angels (Rev 14) proclaim the gospel.

  • I find it funny that this god of yours decided to sit around and watch mankind suffer for thousands upon thousands of years before peeking his head in 2 thousand years ago.

What the fuck was that faggot doing with all that time?

  • @nunpunter God is a fag! Every time some one paints a pic of him he's naked with naked childeren all around!

  • he already DID?

(Oh in the 'Bible' of course - & how do you know that the bible is true?, because the bible says it's true? - great circular logic there).

so basically your saying that god would not reveal himself today because he's afraid of being crucified?, didn't he do that for us? & he knew that he would rejoin HIMSELF the father in heaven anyway. You know your god is man-made when he hates all the same people you do.

  • He will reveal Him self. (See Revelation 19:11-16)

As for hate, Jesus taught in Matt 5:44, "But I say to you, LOVE your ENEMIES, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,"

As for circular logic, isnt the age of a rock layer determined from the age of a fossil, and, in turn, its age is determined by the current model of evolution; then, the proof for evolution is the age of the rocks in which the fossil is found?

  • Lk 10:21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

  • Hitchens says that truth is something to be searced after, even to an "unending struggle," yet he admits that he would be very skeptical of anyone claiming they'd arrived there. Why? Why deliberately sacrifice your comfort for the pursuit of something that you will inevitabley deny? Where is the reason in that? Searching for God with super-sensitive measuring devices and faulty human imaginations will never succeed. But, praise God, simple faith will.

  • The bible claims to be witness to something. Adding a verse that says "all of the bible is true", adds nothing to this witnessing. Circularity is irrelevant -- yes, to some degree everything is circular.

Faith is really about putting one theory ahead of another just because you like it. Not because it better explains the evidence, or lacks contradictory evidence. You just like it. Scientists might be guided in their research by their feelings, by faith, but you can't publish based on it.

  • Well.. faith is a bit more than trust, but trust does have alot to do with it.

It's knowledge and trust built by presuppostion through experience.

Scientist use the same method in their thought though they refuse to say it.

  • If there is a god, why does he hide himself so well? If there is a god, why is there no clarity which religion is the truth?

  • God hasn't hidden Himself at all, but His being is transcendental to our own. Your confusion of religion is a result of the condemnation you deserve, and His wrath towards your rebellion.

  • 4:15 was gold: As Wilson says, there is no reason you can give him or with which you can debate with him

  • You show how ignorent you are of his arguments. lol He's talking about reason as a system of philosophy.

Continue to beat up straw men. It's what you do best.

  • Yes, I am talking about using my brain as a system of philosophy, as opposed to using a bronze age book as my system of philosophy.

I don't see what mistake I am making. Care to enlighten?

  • Your brain is a system of philosophy now? What about a dog.. Is his brain a system of philosophy? You fail

  • I'm talking about the use of reason as philosophy. Go read your conservative bible Ayn Rand, and see what she said about reason.

Funny - 30 years ago, Ayn Rand was the goddess of the conservative movement. But she advocated reason, and you seem to have dumped it for bronze age middle-east superstitions.

  • is a dogs brain comparable to a humans? no YOU fail.

  • most christians accept the bible as divine truth, but not literal truh. Is this statement true?

  • so anyone know the name of that rap song at the end? it's epic

  • I'm a Christian, I like Hitchens because he doesn't pull punches, but moreso b/c he wants a real debate. The comments here show most religion haters don't. You watch a 30 second clip and -suprise- immediate ad hominem attacks. Which is in essense all youtubers do. You're not even understanding the point he is trying to make about appealing to reason, and don't care to listen and find out before saying 'he's an idiot'. Learn something from Hitchens, then you can learn something from Wilson.

  • maaaaaan, the obvious flaw is the 'reasoning in a circle' argument based on reason is that we use reason in EVERY aspect of our life and he no doubt used reason to choose to have faith in the bible (hopefully).

  • And sam51092 in for the win!

  • haha, cheers.

  • 'Every position is a faith position'.

If this is true, then all truth positions are equal. If all truth-positions are equal, then no position is any more 'true' than any other.

Needless to say, this is very rich coming from a man who has elsewhere accused atheists of relativism.

  • Correct, if every position is based on faith, which is inherently based on the feelings of the believer and is therefore not only highly ambiguous but logically fallacious, then Wilson's claim that his version of Christianity is "objectively true", is patently absurd.

  • @sam51092

confusion b/w faith as theoretical truth position & faith as a description of belief behaviour. Wilson tries 2 touch on this, not very successfully. If I hit a nail with a hammer I display a belief behaviour, which don't by definition rely on "faith" but on proof thru experience. Religious argument says this proves atheists have faith...which then becomes the classic epistemological reductio, as per Descartes demon. This tactic mires both sides in absurdity, which is a FAIL.

  • Wilson doesn't quite understand the logical fallacy of begging the question...

  • The rap at the end was hot... I am such a nerd; I am really looking forward to this.

  • "I wanna base my world view on reason"

    and i'd say "why?"

"when he turns to give me a reason"....

is this guy serious right now?

  • Wilson's standard list world view statements are stunningly stupid. Is that fair to say?

  • wait i don't know what i was smoking here or who i was replying to, perhaps i was going for sarcasm.. Wilson is a nut case.

  • I don't think that's very fair. More like generous.

  • I'd say that is putting it mildly..

  • your being very generous since what he actually believes is completely absurd .

  • @Flabbyhabbybabby Yes, stunningly fair. Thank you.
