  • and its sad all our favorite groups and their place in the musical industry is always changing. the only group that has remained the top since their debut is SNSD, which is an amazing feat and im happy for that.

SOSHI 짱! they really are amazing. they were in the top in 2007, and still are now

DBSK,,, cant believe that the stupid lawsuit ruined everything. they were freakin amazing

  • of course wonder girls are in here. theyre damn famous

now its all SNSD. back then, and now too

same with DBSK and Big Bang

these are all the most influential groups

    but wheres suju and shinee??

  • internet.

that's what happened during 2003 and beyond.

  • rawr! no matter what i'm sooooo gonna buy DBSK's fourth albumm! >:)

  • I think the record sales will go higher this year in Korea because of DBSK's comeback.

Also, it was 'rumored' to be DBSK's last year 'cause of the 5 year curse in SM, but if DBSK does good for their Korean album, they might not disband, so I'm pretty sure Cassie will buy their album

  • What can I say?

All because of illegal internet downloads, I tell you... But I guess in a way, it's not our fault. I want to listen to their songs, but I'm only a student and really can't afford to buy everyone's albums, so I just buy what I can and download the rest. Now I feel guilty :'[.

  • is weird that in korea they don't sell alot of albums but they sell more the concerts and presentations 'cuz like US when there is a big hit like tell me, last farewell or girls generation they will sell a lot for that

  • South Korea is THE most wired(internet) country in the world. So a lot of illegal downloading and thus a huge loss of sales wouldn't be strange.

  • I hope when DBSK made their comeback this August...Cassiopeias would buy their album! There's 800,000 of them!!!!! If they only sold 100,000, and download it illegally then all the Cassiopeias should go hide because I'll hunt them down....ahaha....

  • do u know what the news said about dong bang at :19 ? thanks dear..

  • Beginning of 2007 was dominated by IVY. End of 2007 was WonderGirls' time.

  • Who cares? I heard JYP made more money this year than Lee Soo Man just off of WonderGirls' song (they didn't even show up in many variety shows, etc.) which is sad considering Lee Soo Man had a billion trained and generic bands he puts money into.

  • the dong bang boys need to be back in korea!!!!!!!

  • I agree. Ever since they left Korea in 2007, the music industry has never been the same.

  • DBSK will always be a legend in korea, no matter what, and they have confirmed to make a coomeback in korean near end of 2008, so im anxiously waiting!!! yay!!!! it's going to be the best!! no one can ever replace dbsk!!

  • do u know what the news said about dong bang at :19 ? thanks dear..

  • big bang!! and omgosh was that dae sung with his shirt off yikes! :)

  • well..I would really buy an album once DBSK released their 4th korean album...ahahaha...=)

  • wow @ the album sales >__>

    people, buy your albums! :D

  • it was the sales, many people download rather than buy.

  • i wonder who's concert tickets are of best sellings...

  • ahah, i'm kinda amused that dongbang footage keeps popping up. what exactly did they say about them in the very beginning? it was album sale numbers, wasn't it?

  • i thought 2007 was definitely a good year for music especially groups! wonder girls and big bang dominated the charts :D

  • that's what it looks like from appearances, 'cause they've still got to keep the hype up w. all sorts of shows and ceremonies and whatnot. but the point is that physical sales, meaning albums, singles, cds themselves, are failing. it's been like this for quite some time :|

  • Amazingly, SM Entertainment and JYP Entertainment now make more money from appearance fees for their stars in CFs, films, TV dramas and music festivals than they do from record sales. And even those are now mostly digital sales and impulse purchases like ringtones.

The business model is now upside-down, with stars now using their music as a loss leader to build up popularity and then land as many CFs and acting roles as possible. Not many get as far as holding their own concerts.

  • good answer(:

  • "Tell Me" might have been a huge hit, but as of May 2008, only 68000 copies were sold! No one's actually paying for this stuff any more ...

  • I see dbsk, but I didn't really think they were mentioned. o__o.

Gosh. that's a very biiiig drop from 2000. blame mp3 downloads and sharing in the net :DDD

  • actually it's normal that DBSK is not there.. because they are in Japan this whole year..

  • i agree too. if people bought the albums and didnt download them....their sales would be better. but for ppl in other countries it CAN be hard to buy the albums.

  • That`s true I wanna buy DBSK all albums. Including japanese ones too. But it`s expensive and all the websites are in Korean or Japaneses. So it`s really hard to buy the originals.

  • very informative. the drop of album sales from 2000 is really drastic.
