I am so grateful that i just found this..i stumbled upon it by accident but have been looking to learn how to do this for months now... my mother just gave me an afghan that was made out of this stitch pattern by my great grandmother who died when i was 7 and i have been wanting to recreate it in different colors for my children... thank you so much for having this online.
I love your videos. I'm amazed at the crochet you have created. Instructions are great. Can the written instructions be printed? I've tried to print but it looks like double exposer.

It's a good idea to check out TJW's blog, there are lots of handy hints and tips - i too love ther pencil grip idea. I've taken up crochet after a long break and found the hooks too narrow to grip. Its much more comfortable with the grips.

@LuvCrochet1 Correct, I am not counting the first chain as a stitch with the double crochet. I am only using it as the step up so I can work a full double crochet.

Great pattern . But too much of an effort to remember if it is fpo or bpo. Can you keep to fpo all through?

Teresa: It looks as though the turning ch.1 does NOT count as the first stitch of the
row. Is this correct?
