Some brands (Apogee, Lynx, Prism Sound...) have agreements with Digidesign and have products that can be used on a ProTools HD platform via compatible expansion cards for the interfaces.
"using the direct digital outputs into my apogee converters....sounds so amazing etc etc".So then Peter,you need to use the apogee just to get into protools and bypass those hyped up apogee a to d converters.Makes sense to me too.

I though that the only way to open Pro Tools was by using Digidesign hardware or m-audio hardware.
