Pure musical taste that crosses over to any musician's liking is rare, but DT can do it at the drop of a hat. It's not progressive metal, it's not metal, it's not rock, it's not "classical" (as I read from previous comments), it's just beautiful music. I always hesitate to say these guys are the best band to ever live. But, if I had to choose, Dream Theater would be my choice.

Actually I like the fact that DT is not too popular. Only the people who know what good music sounds like can appreciate this wonderful band, I´m glad there not mainstream, too many former good bands have turned mainstream (for example Metallica). DT always did what they thought was best for their music and not what would get them more money.
