Well, it's important to look at them as companions that happen in the same timeline. It's meant to be open to interpretation. In both places, the school and the dueling stage are illusions; they are places the students go to in order to hide out from the world. In both endings, the girls are eventually freed from their illusions and see the world for what it really is through each other.

In one ending, Utena is shown dying, but maybe, that's just the part of her that was trapped in the world of protection. She's grown stronger, and can finally exist in the real world. Maybe that's why Anshii left to go find her outside of the school.
In another, Car Utena is nearly destroyed, and rusted, which could be considered a car's death. So, really, while they're both symbolic endings, one is even MORE symbolic. :3
I absolutely enjoyed watching the Utena movie, and this trailer reminded me of my favourite moments from it. I prefered the movie to the series, although I also liked the series as well. Thankyou for sharing this trailer!
It's a different version of the same story. It's basically the same storyline, but the ending is different than the series and a lot of situations are handled differently. But the movie makes more sense if you watch the series first.
which aired first the show right??? sorry i'm getting into the show now and it's really confusing, i'm not sure who is the really bad guy and i've seen almost all the episodes...lol it's really good though
hello!everyone! this is the trailer movie...and the tv series came first...there are some difference between two version. One difference is that touga and utena love each other in the movie:)...in the tv series, touga is quite bad to battle with utena, afterwards, i think he wanted to give advice to utena...about akio....he is a bad guy in the school..but in the past, he was a prince and a good man...watching the tv series first is better...becos it can explain more...
frickin epic movie :D

Do you know what the name of the second song is? It isn't on the album. The ending credits are the same music, but no words.
