Yes, this song is best than Abba's Waterloo. But Abba is a classic, and they did better songs after Waterloo. Apart from that, at first Abba chose "Hasta Mañana" (best song than "Si") to perform for Eurovision, but they did prefer "Waterloo" finally.

@unagondola I agree totally with your comments! I also loved Abba but this was a performance from a superstar who owned the stage as she sang this superbly atmospheric masterpiece. I also loved the English version 'Go', which surprisingly managed to sound brilliant in the translation. I think she also scored a top 10 UK hit with that version. Thanks for posting this : )

Italy and or Italian artists have produced so many (world) hits that it's mind boggling. Unfortunately, only for those who understand Italian, can appreciate those songs. Personally, I think the above is the reason Gigiola did not win the Eurovision that year. Bella canzone...

Had it been any other year Italy would have won. ABBA song was so catchy and commercial it was bound to win. Gigliola was up against a group who were to dominate the 1970's and early 80's. However,Si or Go had a beautiful melody and became an International hit for Gigliola. It's a pity she never focused her talents in the UK or USA.

I think there was a change of times in 1974, we wanted something different, we were bored of these "classic Eurovision power ballads" and ABBA was something of a change. I am glad they won. This song is great, Gigliola is great. So is Italian music. Waterloo was a watermark for Eurovision Song Contest in the same way as Lordi was to be later....haha.

I so agree, as far as composition and arrangement are concerned this was the better song! Waterloo goes to your feet, but this one goes to the heart. Maybe the jury was just more in the mood for an up tempo number... at least it came in second, anything else would be nothing short of scandalous.

Few peple know (forgive my english) that "Sì" didn't have so much success in our country (Italy). This song infact was censored and it could not be plaied at the radio and on TV. In 1974 Italy voted to keep or take off divorce law (may the 12th)and governament say that affermative answer could be a problem for "Vote no" Party. But Gigliola remain a living legend in Italy and abroad (Tramvinicyus from Rome)
