  • I need help with something. I have made my ghillie suit already and now about my gun.

-I dont know how to stick vegetation on it, like cover it up with stuff.

    Anybody know respond please, thanks

    Scott

  • @Biraghi128 my advice is to use netting and wrap it around your gun, once the netting is on you can add jute, burlap and natural vegitaion to the netting.

  • thank you do you just shove sticks into the material or do u use some type of netting?

  • any tips on adding the veg while you are crawling in the suit (in a position where if u stand up etc. you are spotted)

  • Hey man. My Ghillie is from Ghost Ghillies.com (woodland) and its thread is made into the mesh. Theres no netting! The best I can do is tangle some stuff into it. How can I add veg effectively with out the net?? Basicly It's like a full basketball Jersey + paints with the holes in it in camo color with the Burlap tied in rows on the outside. Should I buy another or try to put netting in between the layers?? I'll appreceate all suggestions. Thanks.

  • @MMAbadassbrett Hmm thats a great question. I dont necessarily think there is a really good way to make that work. any suggestions guys?

  • @rfiala1 I just bought a 90$ ghillie suit called a stalker and all of the pictures of it showed the ghillie going to the waist when it only goes to your chest. so if you are going to by one. but it from a store where you can try it on first.

  • @MMAbadassbrett Hey man, you need to buy some Black zip ties, or dark green or black Line, like fishing line or string... Then all you have to do it Prepare the ties before you go into the field and add things as you go, and change them as needed, of course bring extra ties just in case you lose some or find you need more vegetation. hope that helps you.

  • @MMAbadassbrett i have the same kind of ghillie suit and i have the same problem

  • @mummiesboy96 Yeah I just gave up and got it real dirty. Spray with hose and crawl through the dirt and woods. Makes it a little better when leaves get tangled in it.

  • @MMAbadassbrett im trying out the zip ties and i home they'll work

also do u have issues with weeds and such getting thickly tangeled in your ghillie

  • @mummiesboy96 Well sometimes it will tangle and bunch up at some parts. I tend to get a lot of sticks, thorns, and pineneedles in mine often.

  • @MMAbadassbrett i got my zip ties and im adding even more burlap to my suit so i am covered more, also im going to make a head piece for the suit because my head is sometimes uncomfortable in the hood. also do u play airsoft and use your ghillie suit then

  • @mummiesboy96 I used it for some paintball. And yes the hood wasn't that greatly made had bunch of pine needles in my face and the eye holes tangeled some times. But sounds like a good idea. It should be good for airsoft if you can run in it lawl.

  • my main concern is when you crawl while wearing a ghillie suit, will or how often does the leg netting get snagged into the enviroment

  • @Rawberdawb almost all the time when you crawl or walk through the woods

  • Hey, Could you tell me what you used for sticking the leaves and Grass on the Suit? I'm new to this Ghillie suit thing, and I Want to make one for about 50$ or less, and not buy it for 180..

  • go up to your URL bar, put a Q between the words you and tube and then press enter or click go" When you are finished, check your email!

  • Hathcock layed in an open field like this, made the shot in the open, and still got away with it. Sometimes I hide right in front of people, and they never see me. My son hides in peoples front yards in his G suit, and has yet to be seen. GREAT VIDEO GUYS!!! About time someone made this one.

  • @nineteenEcho i wonder how the vietnamese didn't see hathcock! because he wasn't wearing a ghillie he was just hiding in a field!

  • So you read the book. That's all we use is natural camo. I don't put anything on me until I am in the area I'm going to be working. Have you ever entered a sniper match? Not airsoft? A match where you have 2 trained snipers looking for you.

  • actually i watched alot of videos on scout snipers and he popped up in a few.

  • trick with mine is im making a ghillie out of all different types of thread.some looks like stick others look like blades of long brown weeds. ( where i play its usually brown) ...so far i havnt used any vegetation on it...but i am not done. turns out in my first airsoft war it worked great. good vid man 5/5

  • Everytime I put natural vegetationit falls out and I can't think of anyway to secure it without that happening.

  • this video has inspired me to invent something. the "Easy Grow Ghillie Suit" or "E.G.G.S" (i actually did not plan that)

  • im uploading a vid on this as i speak :P

    im not copying you though.

i havent watched your vid yet.

  • great video buddys! 5* ;-)

  • I ALWAYS apply natural vegitation to my ghillie! Great video, good points, 5 stars!

  • if you use cedar tree it covers your gillie great, doesnt fall out and it last for several days without going brown personally thats what i use for my area the most

  • but what heppens when the dead grassdies more and goes brown

  • You need to replace it :-)

  • while using 100% natural vegetation would certainly look better and be more effective, it wouldn't work for more than a few hours. grasses begin to brown after a couple hours and a short time later so do bushes. then even if you looked exactly like a bush, you would be that one dead bush thats changing places.

  • true i agree...

  • simple solution. GROW your ghillie suit lol

  • @dingbat667 what u mean?

  • Thats some awesome info! that part where you used the pine tree was great!

  • i had just made a ghillie and i can keep the vegetation on. how do u recomend connecting it

  • what is the most multifunctional background texture i could use to make a ghillie suit?

  • the most multifunctional would have to be the leaf. in any setting you may encounter, there are plants and plants have leaves. granted that they may all be of different sizes, shapes, colors, and textures they all share the fact that they are leaves. try incorporating strips of burlap in with this particular type of suit in order to make up for the changing environment (this info is based soley on your question. i believe that full natural veggie is the way to go). thanks for the question! :)

  • that was like amazing advice. i dont know wat u meant by the burlap but did u mean make one ghillie piece undernieth and atach burlap with matching settings because if you did....not gonna lie....u could make some money off of that

  • i know this is a kinda stupid question but i'm new to ghillie suits so i have trouble adding in natural vegation to my ghillie suit because i play airsoft so i have to be quick and i have trouble keeping it connected. so how do add vegation to the suit and make sure it stays?

  • great video very helpful... little cheeesey in some parts but very well made. I am currently under way with my ghillie suit and there is deffinatley patience involved. and i'll make sure to incorperate this into my suit. Thanks

  • whats the best dye to use i got burlap and dark green dye but u said that ull stand out

  • check out my ghillie suit and give me some tips if anything is wrong

  • hey, i already have a dark green ghillie i made with jute, but im trying to make another because it isn't too impressive. I was thinking if i make one like the one in your video with large straps of burlap i could use it to blend in to leaves on a forest floor or even slightly darker colored fields. I was wanting to make it different shades of brown/tan/grey/ and other dead leaf colors instead of green. Let me know what you think, thanks.

  • um i have alot of time on my hands i am going to make a gilly suit should i use all natural vegetation.

  • absolutly. natural vegetation is the most important part of a good suit since it conceals your body with the natual surrounds that make up the forest. great idea bud. let me know how it works out.

  • it is definetely necessary but the best ghillie suits are made from both burlap andddddddd nartual vegitation

  • natural vegetation is fine. trust me, If you use enough of it then it will conceal you just fine.

  • dude, its not. natural vegetation should be covering about 30-40% of the ghillie, and 60-70% burlap and/or twine.

  • im sorry but i have to say that you are 100% wrong. If i hide inside of a bush you wouldnt see me, if i was only 30% of a bush I would look just like that , 30% of a bush. you would be more likely to focus on something out of place, like 30% of a bush. natural vegetation was devised to mimic actual objects as good as possible.

  • yes but, youd look exactly like the bush.. that one and only bush. so if you needed to move to another bush, well your stuck becuase you only look like the bush from before.

  • now we are headed in the right direction though. yes you will look like a bush this is true, however, you wont look like a person :) i guess you would have to vary the materials you use so that it can blend in with a multitude of different surroundings

  • @MoldyZombie other way around buddy

  • thanks helped alot cant wait to get my suppleis

  • When you talk about true military ghillies. They are not costly either. Your talking 40.00 - 80.00 to design a military style ghillie depend on the type of ghillie you selected to build. The only area that gets into high cost is using materials for anti-thermal signatures (prevents you from being seen easily with thermal or IR cameras/scopes/optics). Good video though guys.

  • nice ghillie blanked thing guys

  • thanks guy i lived it completely true i subed :)

  • this is why i bought a webtex concealment vest and i only added some jute to make a ground sort of look for the environment i hunt in, i then add natural vegitation to the elastic straps.

  • if you want to see how to make good ghillies then watch the art of camouflage but that is really an good ghillie

  • Finally, a ghillie video from people who know what they're talking about.

  • best ghillie vid ever. great job guys.

  • very informative, il be using some of these techniques on my ghillie, thanks guys :)

  • I sincerely thank you for Properly demonstrating a professional method for ghillie suit construction. I'm making one as part of a wearable art expo at my school, and I'm sure this video will help me to get an A+.

PS: would anyone know how to thread home printed paper money to a suit over the burlap and natural vegetation?

If someone could provide me with a credible answer; it would be much appreciated

  • wow you guys are great

  • Nice job on the ghillie.

What are u threading the foliage through ? Did you add elastic loops or are you just using the netting ?

    Recon

  • he probably used netting i used netting and i just tuck natural vegetation under the net makes it much much much easier then using loops.

  • haha good job fellas Marine Recon Snipers would be proud

  • Wow at 1:38 i never saw the ghillie suit on the ground till he picked it up rofl

  • u guys r totally right thanks 4 really explaining the real meaning of ghillie suit
