  • This is awesome...thank you!! I remember playing this game a long time ago, and I wouldn't leave the bar until this song played!!

  • MP3 Version please!! :)

  • I am actually an archaeologist...I'd like to find a girl to keep my artifacts warm...

  • This is in the floppy version too. I was just playing the game and I happen to stumble upon it the first time I was visiting the speakeasy.

  • THANK YOU! I sing this song all the time but now I realize I'd forgotten most of the words, lol, I made up my own over the years :) I cannot believe you actually put this on youtube!! This kicks ass! I wish I could find this game (and that it would actually work on today's computers..)... I love the old Sierra Online games! King's Quest, Laura Bow, Leisure Suit Larry... Oh the memories :)

I cannot thank you enough! This made my day! :D

  • Was this song specifically written for the game?

  • @Thatneslper Yep.

  • BEST SONG EVER!!!!!!!!!

  • Whenever I hear the word "archaeologist" this song gets stuck in my head. I'm not even kidding. :P

  • @CartoonDork me too :)

  • You could actually hear this on the "non-talky" version...if you were unlucky enough to own a "Disney Sound Source", you got about five "real" sound effects...and this song. Great song, though. Thanks.

  • I want to be an archeologist!

  • Mummy would love him and Daddy too

  • She must really like them bones.

  • I wanted to hear LateBlt sing this.

  • Would that Archeologist be Doctor Jones?

  • Hey, I'd marry that archeologist! ;)

  • I remember solving this game back in the 90's (when it was still a new game on the market ;) ). Never knew that Sierra has made a "talky" version out of this one, I only had the "floppy" version on hand :(

  • OMG!! I still this song to this day, I remember playing the game and hanging out in the speakeasy (password Charleston) just to hear this song. What a treat to find this posting. Bravo!

  • this song is a parody of "I want to marry a light house keeper" from the sound track of "clock work Orange" it is a good song that could have play of top 40ty in the early seventies.

  • Why did you put a question mark at the end of each line?

    THIS MAKES ME ANGRY!!!

  • ... Keep his artifacts warm...?

  • This song is just amazingly catchy. As far as I have gathered, Chris Brayman is the composer. Does anybody know who's singing?

Chris Brayman, by the way, is a brilliant composer. He's, among other games, composed the music for King's Quest VI and EcoQuest!

  • If I recall correctly, that is Jane Jensen singing. (The GK series creator.) She also did the voice of the scary flapper in the bathroom.

  • Indeed, Jane Jensen did Flapper. But according to the credits Susan Kehler was the vocalist of this song.

  • Remind me to take piano lessons from Dr. Jazz XD. Btw, Red Hot Peppers? Maybe a reference to The Red Hot Chili Peppers?

  • note to self-stay away from drunk piamo player!

  • (PS: The piano player still cracks me up! Lol)

"Laura Bow II: The Dagger Of Amon Ra" is another great Adventure game classic!! I really miss the great era of Adventure Games! :(

  • Thank you so much for uploading this; it has been quite a while since the last time I have heard the song.

Actually, I was never able to understand what she was singing because back then; I could not understand English and they did not record the song in German. I did always find the melody catchy though and I love the lyrics, thank you for posting them as well!

  • Sorry for the little correction but this song also appeared on the disk version. :)

When I first played "The Dagger Of Amon Ra" back in '92 I only had the disk version of the game and when I reached this part, I could not believe that she was singing!! Back then, to have 'voices' was not common at all, especially not with the disk-version.

  • Oh man, I haven't heard this song in what...17 years? Thank you!

  • You're welcome! :)

  • "... MUMMY would love him and Daddy too"

    True, true!

  • (Argh, YouTube ate my last comment.) The "burrowing" bit gets me the most... O.o

I had no idea so many adventure games like this existed!

  • I personally like the "peek-a-boo" bit the best. :D

Yeah, it's hard to find these kinds of games, but they are out there!

  • Indeed! Next to the "boop-e-doo" bits. XD

I read the 'Choose Your Own Adventure' books as a child and these games (especially the Laura Bow games) remind me a lot of them. I always thought the mystery-based ones would make good video/computer games. I wish I'd known about them sooner!

  • This is so twenties/thirties-ish, it HURTS. :D It's a humdinger!

But what's that piano player doing? Since there's no piano in the song, it looks like he's just wobbling around randomly. Had a bit too much to drink, Doc?

  • I LOVE the piano player! He cracks me up because I actually have met people like that before. XD

  • ... Oh... Wow.

I can't decide whether this is more wrong or awesome. Or both. Either way, thanks for putting it up! Now you must sing this song during your next LP. =)

  • I'm glad you appreciate the... whatever it is that "The Archaeologist" song is. XD

"Now you must sing this song during your next LP."

Are you crazy?? What, you want me to make the song even WORSE than it is now?

  • It is something, for sure. Exactly what that something is, I'm not sure of.

As for making it worse... I'm not sure that would be possible. :D If we're lucky, it would be even more crazy-awesome.

  • I promise you, it *would* be worse. My voice is NOT made to sing that high. ... Actually, it's not made to sing, period. I could not bring myself to subject my viewers to something so horrible!

  • Perhaps that is for the best. We wouldn't want you removed due to possession of a weapon of mass destruction.

  • Have you ever heard the voice acting of the stevedore in the talkie version?

Try to emulate THAT pitch, hah.

  • Oh yes, I certainly have heard it; it's very sexy! I wish I *could* speak that low, haha.

  • Exactly! And that's why I want to keep quiet about that (so to speak).
