Rather than providing him with the book, I'd explain to him that it's totally absurd to believe that an all-loving, all-knowing god would create faulty humans, blame them for his own mistakes, then send his son to Earth to be brutally murdered for them because he's chosen not to exercise his infinite powers to remove the faults himself. Obviously, if you can create a universe, repairing faults in your creations would be no more challenging than brushing your teeth.
