  • Radiohead fans not being able to get into something different for purely superficial reasons or outrageous rules about covering that they made up is a little bit silly. It's not like Radiohead are the most conventional band.. And it's not like they're one of those perfect bands out there. Have you heard Thom sing? He's not exactly polished.

  • OMG YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE THE DISLIKE BAR!! Youtube is broken :L

  • @DorixDoll

You're comment makes no sense. Obviously the commenter is not a well-known musician.. And Amanda Palmer is.

    So... point?

  • It's nice to record also the tuning of the instrument. For some 10 seconds. Not for 1:30!

  • people who say this sucks just can't understand the art of the imperfection and simplicity amanda brings. She's amazing.

  • Awesome

  • 1:31

  • Yikes!

  • I feel like Amanda would sound so beautiful speaking French. I wish she spoke more. I love the way she spoke then.

  • she is a performer and a goddess. Everytime I get down I listen to her and I know that she will always be there and comfort me even though she doesnt know me. And for that I thank you. :] Amanda palmer is love. AFP4L

  • Camera man, The close ups were gorgeous! It pushed this over towards pure art. I absolutely loved it!

  • Ahhh....I love you AFP. I love you.

  • The funny thing...Well it's not funny.

But if someone covers your song it's usually because they love you. I rarely sing songs I hate..so why would she. She is not radiohead...shes Amanda Effing Palmer...and she is allowed to like songs too...

  • Haters gonna hate, Trolls gonna troll...

It's normal that people won't like it, but it bugs me that some of them don't even try to. I didn't like some of her songs at first, but now I love them (Delilah, Runs in the Family, Shores of California...).

I think Amanda likes to pull people out of their zone of comfort. It's sad that some can't leave their pillows.

  • ...I'm sorry covering Radiohead should be like covering Journey. ILLEGAL

  • @Rikuji20 c'mon, you should think about the motives behind this. glee kids covered "don't stop believing", merely because of some fucking directors told them to do so. obviously, they wanted nothing but fame and rating. hence, their performance was emotionless and no more than bit of craps. but i feel AP sings this with all her heart on! what really makes them different, (sr about bad english!)

  • @Rikuji20 You're retarded.

  • I love this women's-them is simply brilliant

    i love you babe

  • I love this women's-them is simply brilliant

  • lmfao. "I play the ukulele better."

Even if that's true. None of us give a shit.

You don't put out cds we love. You don't put out anything. To us, you're nothing.

Put out some music of your own, and get some damn fans.

    Then I'll hear it. :)

  • @Beara0208 suprise suprise, she does. Please don't open your mouth if you don't know. I give a shit and im a fan.

  • I guess the joke is true: ukulele players spend half their time tuning and the other half of their time playing out of tune.

  • where was this filmed at? It looks like The Rock House in St. Louis....

  • @mandywantsitnow That was in Paris, France.

  • the fact that this shows up as the top / featured result when searching for "fake plastic trees cover" demonstrates once again that youtube stopped promoting quality a long while ago. this isn't even in the top 20 versions on youtube.

and the naysayers can just look at the like / dislike metric. that is a poor response.

  • Women artists who aren't afraid to just do what they love are pretty much the sexiest thing in the world. Period.

  • Women artists who aren't afraid to just do what they love are pretty much the sexiest thing in the world. Period.

  • 87 people have no appreciation for what music, in it's base form really is.

  • That was so beautiful! I don't know what the FUCK is wrong with the last guy to comment but he's messed up & not in a good way!

  • wow, this is horrible.

Not sure what people like about this.

Thom Yorke's voice is amazing. this rendition is painful.

Even alanis morrisets cover is better

  • As a dedicated Radiohead über-fan I cannot approve of... hey, wait... Amanda Fuckin Palmer RULES!

  • Hey Radiohead fans, check out Amanda's take on Rihanna's Umbrella if you are so easily offended.

  • I don´t like Ukuleles, they look like toddler´s guitar.

  • i play uke and her ukulele sounds like absolute shit. her voice isn't much better. but that's no need to hate on a beautiful instrument for the people who can really play the good quality shit. preferably a tenor and not a dinky tinnny soprano. ukuleles are beautiful and this is a bad representation of what a uke song should sound like.

  • ... all the time.

  • amanda fucking palmer god dammit! those that hate can eat a bowl of beer battered dicks.

  • This chick rocks. XD

  • Hey she likes the song. Don't you ever play a song and sing along? It like the same. we all like radiohead.

  • haters gonna hate, but fuckk it

amanda palmer is more talented then many musicians of the past 10 years

  • This is so simple, and real, i guess most people can't appreicate it but this is amazing in my eyes, I can't see this being done in a better way. Video zoom and all. =P

  • shes probably looking away cause u keep zooming in the camra creep

  • @klesky In the spotlight forever more? Oh alright.

  • Her voice is perfect. But that ukulele stuff is just not working to me. Sorry

  • thom yorke sounds 100000000000 times beter

  • not feeling this cover. sorry.

  • She's just singing a song. Like we all do in the shower, in the car, etc. Get over it.

  • Shes amazing, Neil Gaiman is a lucky man.

  • AWESOME!! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!

  • Why can't I adore both? 13 year radiohead fan, longtime amanda fan, she does wonderful versions of her own songs but enjoys putting her own spin on the works of others.

  • I love that she's using a Hilo.

  • Dear Radiohead superfans:

Calm the fuck down. She doesn't think she's better than Radiohead. Obviously, she really likes their song, hence doing the cover. If you don't like her cover, that's okay. Go listen to Radiohead. The rest of us will enjoy both.

    Thanks!

  • @xgreyoutx Your comment actually calmed me down!

  • I don't like her voice.

  • fuckin terrible version...why would you try and cover a song of this magnitude....its an impossible thing to do,somebody says on here she has balls to do this,i say she,s done this because her head is so far up her own fuckin arse...

  • Comment removed

  • @kbdfc First: Chill out. Second: While your negative opinion may seem valuable to you, excuse me while I disregard its blatant ignorance. I'm not going to deny that the lyrics are amazing for this song, but IMO Amanda captures the song so much better. Regardless of opinions, though, I'm sure you'd never think your head is up your ass if you caught yourself singing along to this. Please stop being an elitist; life will seem so much better.

  • @hyphyfw ....each to their own i suppose, but i cant believe you think this version is better...people are entitled to their opinion...ive seen radiohead do it live..and it was fantastic..ive watched amanda palmers version twice and i just dont get it.....im currently looking down the right side of this page while writng this comment...and all i can see is "amanda palmer"covering a multitude of songs...that tells me all i want to know about her..take care..

  • I prefer this version to Radiohead because she's real enough for the song. It might just be because I can see her face singing it, though, or maybe I'm just biased because I heard this first! I don't know. Either way, it's an amazing song, so hands down to both of them!

  • @CriesOfJoy and Radiohead the original, isn't real enough? lol

  • @whitestrips1 The original is real, and the lyrics are enormous.. I'm just saying I feel like she gets the song better. I see her feeling the lyrics more, she even looks like she's about to cry towards the end. Opposite that, when he's singing "If I could be who you wanted" in the original the music gets faster and there's some guitar solo.. I also prefer Amanda's voice, with the crescendo's as the song moves. Radiohead it seems is all one volume. The two artists just have different goals.

  • very pretty

  • she is fuglyyyyyy

  • ok, she could've done a swell version that would please us RADIOHEADS but she stripped it down totally, and made it her own... not fantastique but Amanda Palmer's got guts... admit it, people!!! yeah and the cussinf in French at the end hints at her overall regret.... C'MON, COVERING A RADIOHEAD SONG TAKES BALLS (or loadsa pussjuice).....

  • I'm in love with Amanda Palmer <3

  • She should play guitar. I don't know the dynamics, but it seems pretty similar to what she's playing here.

  • I love it!

  • I do not approve her voice (sounds like a shitty ass tired of shitting)!

  • @stenerkasper . Sorry, who are you? Your opinion is about useless. I mean really? Did you really think it up? I bet it took hours.

At least Amanda does constructive things with her time.

I wasn't expecting much during the first half minute or more, but that was a really beautiful cover rendition of one of Radiohead's' greatest songs (perhaps their best of the early to mid-1990's.) I'd even go so far as to say this is better than the original.

  • @JackRussellTerrier2 i'm not coming at her or you, but in what world do you think her voice or this version is better than Radiohead. I mean the Thom's acoustic version to this alone, is probably in the top ten greatest performances of all time. His voice in perfect key and tone.

  • ⚜❧❦☫☬✣✌♘♔ஜ⌘☣⚜

@Vitaluv I've only heard the original, which I also have on CD. I'll have to check that out (Thom Yorke's accoustic version that is) I'm certain it's much better than this, Iv just liked hearing a different take on something I'd heard many times before, the dissonance & octaves etc. Also, I'd been listening to the Dresden Dolls prior to making that comment and felt this was a good followup.

  • @Vitaluv different strokes for different folks, I think ^^

  • I love you amanda!

  • i love this video..... AFP<3

  • I love the close up camera work and the wispy vocals. Makes for a very intimate setting. The ukulele wasn't very in tune, but that doesn't really matter too much in this instance.

  • jesus, this is awful. Poor tuning, sound quality, and a pointless cover. I like some of her other stuff but i feel this was a waste of 6 minutes.

  • @candy19760

then why waste another two seconds to put your negative feedback, seems like you like wasting your time;)

  • que tu parles très bien le français, ma belle ! bisous xoxo

  • I... love... you.

  • Dislike for the video, bad bad camera man.

She does the song good, 'tis like something you sing to your sleeping child, heh. Gotta respect the hardcore Radiohead fans though, I didn't like some of the parts, or chords she used.

  • this sucks

  • It's cause some Radiohead fans believe that covering a Radiohead song is like sacrilegious or something cause Radiohead is perfect and noone else comes close.

  • @fluorescentian lol that's so true.. for any fanboy/girl of any band. I LOVE RADIOHEAD but to be honest... I'm pretty sure that Thom York pretty much... is... radiohead....

She does this cover very well. I like it.

  • Awesome song..

    u also might wanna try

    Watermind - "Not Again"

    long live for RADIOHEAD!!!!

  • Cameraman what the fuck, zoom out jeez.

  • @cougher989 There's artistic value in the way this was shot.

  • @cougher989 Really, what was the point of her sitting and getting a good background if this? lol

  • @cougher989 i disagree. love the camera work. gives intensity to the video.

  • @cougher989 Gotta get those eyebrows in there.

  • @cougher989 lol this must be the first time watching something from Cargovideo....I have been intimately introduced to Marie Flore's mustache which I didn't mind ^^

  • why the hell she ends up the video saying "shit" in french?

  • I always want that line to be "He used to do surgery for girls in the Iliad".

  • I adore this woman!

  • I adore this woman!!

  • @asenseofhate LMFAO. No.

  • x' )

  • LOVE HER

  • AFP speakin le fronch! = SEX<3

  • Coolest art-chick ever.

  • Absolutely Brilliant. A talent only matched by its beauty. and she can speak french to!

  • I wish her arm pit hairs would somehow migrate toward he eyebrows.

  • i would totally date her. And I dont even dig girls that much

  • @srot77 She is just playing a cover song, I am not sure where you get the impression she thinks she is king shit or anything. I am pretty sure she asks where the lighting should be for the camera, and a spiel in french to ben. Just another musician playing, consequentially, another musicians great song. Done pretty originally at that, for being a cover.

  • As with most people with her confidence, she's not as good as she thinks she is.

  • @srot77 how do you know how good she thinks she is?

    ......and she is amazing.

  • She's breathtaking..

  • chokingly so like a strangled fucking cat

  • cool...

  • it's so funny to hear her speak french. haha.

    La vie est bell. :)

  • play the damn music

  • thats not my favorite version

  • snitch song is not good

  • who is this godess named amanda palmer and why havent we met before...I'm in love. AMANDA PALMER HEAR ME NOW WHERE EVER YOU ARE WHATEVER YOUR DOING IM COMNG FOR YA BABY. ILL FIND YOU IF ITS THE LAST THING I DO!

  • i luv wen she has her eyse closed and tilts her head up ;)

  • sharpie eyebrows... HA-HA

    pd: she butchered the song.

  • @JohnnyCagePro

im thinkin those are tatoos man

  • @wookywooky91 not tattoos, but close enough. she does them with liquid eyeliner.

  • is anyone else tired of hearing what that chick wants to do with a thousand poptarts? or am i the only one getting that ad constantly.

  • HURRAY FOR UKULELE!!! :D

  • The filming is beautiful...

  • she is soooooo BORING

  • @artemis1802

You haven't seen her live on stage or in public do you?

Klick you through some vids here and make up your mind again.

Nobody should judge just from one vid and I've looked the piece here - the passion and feeling she delivers is far from being boring, AFP is far from being boring ^^

  • @thewirrow

You just accused AFP of lacking in passion?

    Wow. Just. Wow.

Look don't try to be a douche, okay? I was trying to find some middle ground and not be written off as a mindless fan who just thinks everything she touches turns to gold.

  • it's not bad actually

  • Everyone shut the fuck up. I love Radiohead. I love Amanda Palmer. They're both godly in their own respects. The combination of the two is like fucking nirvana.

  • Why do people hate on this? She's perfectly in tune, her voice is harmonious and smooth, the Ukulele provides perfectly adequate background chords. I seriously don't see anything wrong with this, at all.

Yes, it's not a patch on the original. It's not trying to be. It's a stripped-down cover,

  • @Laneh oh its perfectly adequate? oh how delicious. i love my music to be perfectly adequate. nothing wrong. nice. in tune. who the fuck needs passion hummm?

  • She's so beautiful. I love her because she's not fake like many other artists.

  • Does having a nice job with opportunity to show off your multifaceted abilities make it easier on your conscience to badmouth people you see as childish or ignorant? Describe me as you will, but I myself see it as irresponsible & ignorant. When I'm searching youtube, listening to WONDERFUL music, I scroll down a little after I see someone's nice comment about how great the performance it and I see people trying not to be offensive and sucking at it, every civilized country is proper fucked.

  • What a disaster ! The voice as the harmony of the guitar.

    You used bad chords.

So many nice other covers on Youtube ...

  • t'es vachement grande ou est-ce que t'as la plus petite guitar du monde?

  • the best part is how she doesn't know how amazing she is lol

  • Yikes. :-/

  • what a fucking cheat is it dont spoilet the song

  • God I love her.

  • God I love Amanda Palmer...

  • I'm kinda looking over everyone's comments -- this is MY favorite version, because it's so small. The way this song is meant to be played. Beautiful and simple and honest.

  • shocking , radioheads original is perfection , you will never top it or even come close , so just leave well enough alone , i mean i think the great wall of china is one of the most beatiful things ive seen , its one of a kind nothing else compares , but if wee start building walls in germany england france etc it becomes just another fucking wall !

  • @EricCartman1st

What do you think the Berlin wall is, a fence? God you're an idiot.

  • @TheKatIsBackAgain

Well. It is a fence. But so is the great wall of China. But being 'just another wall' isn't going to stop me from having them in my house, is it?

YOUR ANALOGY IS REALLY BADLY THOUGHT OUT.

  • @TheKatIsBackAgain yours doesn't even make sense. try again.

  • @CreatureofMasquerade

It makes plenty of sense. If you can't understand my magnificent logic of doom, that's not my problem.

  • @TheKatIsBackAgain you missed the point , its got nothing to do with fuckings walls , if we built a statue of liberty of eiffel tower in every country just because we liked the original then they do become just another tower or statue , as for the god your an idiot remark , the fact that you belive in one when his so called repersentative on earth is an ex nazi protector of peadophiles is a little disturbing !

  • @EricCartman1st iron curtain doesn't say anything to you? metaphor fail xD

  • @EricCartman1st

    "Building walls in Germany"

LOL D00D THEY DID it divided entirely two polarized ideologies and societies. Do you have any idea what the Berlin wall was and what it still represents? Probably not, seeing as you come off as an illiterate retard who can't use English properly and stole their name from South Park.

  • She's got a unique style and interpretation of this song but to be honest I just really wasn't feeling it.

  • What a beautiful neck.

  • -=)

  • This is the most beautiful rendition of this song

    <3

  • Most amazing woman in the whole world. End of story.

  • this song makes me cry. Amanda looks so beautiful in this thank you so much for posting

  • some pretty intense shit it almost made me cry (to be honest, i did cry)! btw i love radiohead and alanis still i think it's the best version so far!

  • She's so wonderful.

  • I want to gay marrty her she's purrrfect

  • nope

  • What a load of shite.

  • she is so pretty!

  • Go get the new record now. It comes with a uke cover of Fake Plastic Trees. It's 84 cents if you get it from Amanda through her bandcamp. Every time I watch this video, I end up almost in tears.

  • I'm not feeling the cover >.<

    Sorry...

It's a hard song to pull off though!

    Good job to her though.

  • She's so amazing. I love how different she is.. :] I love you Amanda Palmer.

  • wow i liked this alot, i wasnt sure how radiohead would sound on a ukelele but then again, if amanda fucking palmer is playing it then it has to be awesome!

  • gorgeous. thank you so much

  • She speaks French? Wow! This woman never fails to surprise me with her manifold talents.

  • @TheTinkle How is speaking french a talent? You really should go to school.

  • @rotwart Well, there is a difference between having to learn a language for a certain amount of years at school and actually obtaining the ability to get into and communicate through it. I would consider one with the skill of speaking a foreign language on an advanced level as skillfull, and I do regard it as something akin to a talent. What is your problem with that? You don't have to get all offensive, you know.

  • @TheTinkle I will try not to be offensive this time. I'm not sure where you're getting this 'advanced level' stuff coming from? She says heself that her French is bad. And anyway just declaring that speaking French is skillfull to 'you' is a very weak argument. I speak 4 languages fluently, and believe me, I consider it basic communication especially when doing business in Europe, It's not a 'skill'. Maybe its just the difference between America and the rest of the world.

  • @rotwart

    TheTwinkle's deviantart says she's german.

you said you'd try to be less offensive, but i think you actually offended more people by using a stereotype that doesn't even tie into the argument at all.

  • @lasciby Thank you for the input, but she is American. She does however live in Germany (although in an American compound).

  • @TheTinkle Well would you call a French person who speaks English talented? Probably not...

  • you make me to love world again. mmm Amanda

  • her hair is awesome

  • Wow i think im in love

  • i don't see why everyone hates Ukuleles. this doesn't sound bad at all. In fact amanda palmer is possibly the most clever, talented and diverse musicians i've ever seen. and her shows are amazing. i saw her as the Dresden Dolls back in 2008, i wish she would come back but she toured everywhere around my state.
