If you look at Chinese, Laos and Viet, their word "chicken" sound like a baby. Gai or Kai. In Hmong, it's Klai with the throat L. Children often say Gai or Kai. Notice how Chinese, Laos and Viet say Gai or Kai instead of Klai. In green, it sounds like Klah or tasty in Hmong.
The word of Qeej. The Hmong pronounce is Klaeng. Lao people pronounce is Khen while Chinese called it Sheng or Lusheng. For somehow, they cannot pronounce KLAENG or Qeej. Hmong kids often pronounce is Khen like Laos. The Miao influenced many ethnic groups and the Miao is also one of the oldest ancient tribes. Our language is very old as well.
Im Hmong; I dont mind when people call me Chinese. My 89old mother told me long time ago our ancestors did come from china. If you listen to the languages of Mandarin some Hmong words sound just alike. There are between six and twelve main regional groups of Chinese; 13 languages or as dialects. I believe Hmong are Miao/Chinese!!!
Oh thats why Lao/Thai people call us Miao! Dont believe me? Ask people from Laos/Thailand! LOL
I heard Mandarin is composed of some Manchu and Mongolian words. Kejia is Hakka. Some said, Hakka is the oldest Chinese language and that Hakka derived from the Miao language. Mandarin is similar to English as to Miao language is similar to Latin since both english and mandarin is adj+noun and latin and hmong is noun+adj. The mother language always start with noun+adj.
@Crazy4Dramas But we're not chinese the miao chinese are just the one that got left behind in china and was force to speak chinese that's why Miao speak chinese most of the time but if you speak hmong to them they'll alos understand it's just that they have a chinese accent
You are absolutely correct. Hmong people are of CHINESE ancestry. Being Chinese means ancrestry of or from China. The HAN chinese are the majority that lives in China. The Hmong/Miao are also chinese along with many other minorities. I just wish stubborn Hmong kids would just understand it.
So to be politically correct. I am of Chinese ancestry of the Hmong/Miao minorty. Thanks!
Miao is descendant of Si You.Chinese is descendant of HUang Di.
War between Miao and chinese happened from 5000 years ago to now. After Si you lost before Huangdi, many Miao run to south, stared painful history of Miao.
Miao is not chinese.Miao now is only citizen of China, but not chinese in race, origin.
@Crazy4Dramas Are you saying that you are related to the majority of the Chinese people:the Hans? From my understanding of the World: Chinese. It can also means the same like "American". Because The Hans is the majority (overpower), they have made Mandarin Chinese the main language just like in the United State where White people had made English, the main language. I am Hmong, but I don't consider myself Chinese, because I am an American (Hmong American) Even through my Ancestors was from China
Hmong is Hmong, one of the oldest civilization of the world, end of story. No need to believe that you're somehow related to white people to elevate your racial status, it reeks of self-hating racism.
Guys, stop pretending to be something else. Black hair & brown eyes is beautiful, no need to envy the West. When Hmong perfected rice cultivation more than 5,000 years ago, them Westerners are still eating each other. You're as original as it gets, no need to believe that you're some sort of Western transplants.

That's what i'm talking about. If our great grand parents where raped or married into French shouldn't more then 40% of hmong people would look like French thai and French viet movie stars. LOL. I belive it's false. I know some hmong guy's who are French mixed Hmong they look Filipino to me. Not all french have blonde hair and blue eye's. Help out here too. Why do we Hmong people keep calling them Miao if they are us?
I agree on the French scenario. LOL Anyways, regarding the Hmong and Miao terms, I'm not sure what is originally. Like I said previously, too many theories of beliefs. I know that most of the actual Miao in China never heard of Hmong until recently from Meiguo Hmong. Reserchers finally acknowledged that Hmong and Miao are related, Of course. Those in IndoChina got offended when the Viet, Lao, & Thai refer Miao or Hmong to Meo referring to cat. Now Hmong US thinks Chinese uses it derogatorily.
Miao is pronounced and spelled by chinese mandrian, hmong is pronounced and spelled by ancient chinese accent like kontonese. ancient chinese will pronounce Miao as hmong in ancient chinese accent.
Cool, you have a blonde hmong friend. As of me i'm full blooded hmong guy too, with green eye's, dark brown hair, and light skinned. My family is the same too or less with my traits. I don't really think the theory of French mixed with hmong is true to me. Because i've asked my mother if our family have any french blood in us. She said no. But she said that we get our looks from my grandpa who past away ages ago. My mom light brown eye's. Dad dark brown eye's. So that's where i get confused.
I agree. It is nonsense about the French. Unless harrassments and rapist occurs, but that wouldn't happpen. Hmong always has blond hair and blue eyes. My grandfather saids so.
there's a clip of a old lady carrying a baby of her back and that baby have brown hair, now it's true that hmong and Miao people use to be brown hair and red skin just like eropean people?
I ask that myself for being fool blooded hmong guy. I have green eye's, light skinned and dark brown hair. When i was growing up from infant i had a golden brown hair almost blonde at the age of 6month. I recall my mom telling me. My hair went darker when i was 5 years old. But i'm still trying to figure where i and other Hmong people get that trait from. If you know of any info please forward to me.
I have a good friend who is pure Hmong and has blond hair just like a european. According to my understanding, there may be different versions of belief. Some believes that IndoChina Hmong may have mixed with French during their ruling. Others traced it back to the Zhongguo, our motherland. Since we don't have the facts or true documents to proof, the majority of Hmong who has blond hair and blue eyes were easily identify and killed by the Hans or whoever that was ruling at those times.
Some also belives that Hmong were migrated from the north of the Yellow River and fought against the uprising Yellow Emperor about 5000 yrs ago. Some believes that Hmong were one of the lost tribes of Isreal who migrated north into today known, China. Some Miaotzu in Zhongguo heard of the flood, similar to the Noah's flood. So if this all makes sense, then Hmong may be the ones who explore the whole world 1st before any other ethnics. I know, some may not agree but it's only my theory.
Because if you look at it, Hmong are in the US practicing Shaman and ancestor worhsip who are from IndoChina who are also from China. If Chiyou, also known as Chiwoo in Korean, is a decedent of Koreans then we can be related bcuz Koreans practice it too as an old traditions and goes on to the Nippon's Shinto, who does Shamanism. Probably those who lost the during the battle of Zhoulou must have split up. Those who moved up may became the Huns, Xiongnu, Mongols, Eskimos who migrated across...
the Berring Straight into today known, Northern American, who became the Natives who also still practices Shamans. There are many other who does it too from the Bible as in the book of Moses, if any ever read the Bible. LOL I don't want to get into details and religious bcuz I respect other people's opinions. However, I do believe the the people then did sacrifice animals to pay respect to ancestors and worship them. So to speak, Hmong may origianally have blond hair & blue eyes at one point.
