  • Being born and raised in the Caribbean (U.S. Virgin Islands)my St. Thomian accent will never leave me, and I am proud of that; Even when speaking "proper english". Now attending college in the U.S. mainland and taking on the differences in culture I can definitely take this poem to heart . Well Spoken!

Understanding how we are judge we must thrive to better ourselves everyday...while being true to ourselves....

    Thank you for sharing...

  • This is a wonderful poem. It warmed my heart to see Father and Sons delivering a poem such as this - as a collective voice . Its a very powerful message in this way. Well done!

  • Awesome poem and read with just as much power. I was looking for a social justice poem to go with my project I was doing for a class and ran across this. It's really very, very good. Great job!

  • Thanks so much for your permission to use it! I went ahead and copied it as best I could into a poem format (as I was doing a compiled book of poems from others that expressed aspects of Critical Pedagogy we talked about during class in our education course), being sure to give you guys credit. I think she really enjoyed it :). I got full points on the project, anyway, and she seemed very pleased on how it turned out. But yeah, once again... really great job. I thoroughly enjoyed this piece :).

  • Thank you very much. How did you find it?

  • That was good. I could have used this when I was in the classroom. Thanks SBM!
