  • I can't imagine how unbareable coudl have been for Monsaingeon to film this guy who tries to act and play like his (of Monsaigeon) friend Glenn Gould... ridiculous.

  • Le mariage entre Glenn Gould et Jean-Pierre Léaud. Surprenant.

  • He's sexy as hell but I'm mad at him for pretending to be Glenn Gould...

  • He's cute <3

  • He should have his hair cut, so he didn't had to brush it away all the time :)

  • Really brilliant. A new and different blow of fresh air on this wonderful concerto. The guy is really talented.

  • He is a genius

  • What talent! Absolutely brilliant! Happy to have seen it.

  • 2:58

  • I met him in baalbeck festivals..in lebanon...he is a great pianoist and he is really nice guy..... david is a legend :)

  • The "French" Glenn Gould.

  • seriously

  • I think it's fascinating footage of a young concert pianist rehearsing. He does seem to be a bit brash, but I think he's also full of conviction.

  • Very charming and involving, this concert!

  • He's so beautiful!

  • Beautiful music! He can hear the music in his entirety - and he knows what he wants :) what a lovely tone he has on the keyboard.

  • Siantan heushih eq Pepen.

Uesa iae noh nne tec ninqa cuh Pichiae ne?

  • ...His videos are so unique, I can't even come up with a word to describe...

  • People people, I need some assistance for the song name / artist who does this piano jazz song. "Family Guy like the phillies." @ 14 seconds.(thats the video that the song is in) I've been searching for like 2months. Thank you!!

  • without no doubt a wonderful pianist, talentous and one of the best Bach's performerm congratulations

  • People should learn to appreciate his creativeness and imaginative expressions here. So much negative comments! None of you here can perform like him!

  • appreciate? i'm obsessed to it .. no way back :p

  • He was definately influenced by Glenn Gould to a great extent. Hands down.

  • xDDD cute!

  • I like the part from 1:10 - 1:15 very much, beautiful music!

  • beautiful music, but not be played as it should be a joke...i dont like his "doings" and joking - its a joking piece, and a happy piece, but bach should be taken serious - the bass-notes followes the musical phrase and line at the beginning.

hes not gould - no, he is not!

  • I think people are mixing a bit the character and the playing. The end result is what matters, and I guess he is still not as good as Gould. I would love to hear him playing the Bach/Busoni Chaconne, that is my testbed for musicians wanting to play Bach :)

  • is there the whispering inthe recording like in glenn's ones?

  • He's a good enough pianist, but it's his carisma that faschinated me when this was shown on Swedish television.

The son of a German Teacher and a Kant Scientist... God has been nice to him, he rather looks like the son of Brangelina (yes, I'm hetersosexual).

But the way he looks and treats the piano like some delicate part of a woman.... He's a brilliant pianist, but I would rather se a concert with him than buy one of his records.

First time I like Johann Sebastian.

  • Magnifique!! He must be one of the best pianist ever!!!

  • Lovely!

  • I was absorbed....

  • arrogant without talent. how can anyone possibly say that he is comparable with gould? that's such an insult to him...

  • "Arrogant, without talent"?!!

No way, You miss everything, sorry!

  • very good assessment! Bravo

  • Magnifique,simplement............

  • I Love it!

He is a fantastic pianist. And if anybody thinks he is too full of himself, I can only say that he is allowed to.

Such a brilliant pianist could have an ego as big as ........ I don´t mind! God give him so much talent and so much beauty, too.

I love to see him playing again, and again, and again!

  • Ooops! THESE days

  • Fray ist sehr Banause, aber nicht gut.

  • Geh mit DJ Ötzi einen wichsen!

  • do not be fooled by physical motion or words! This pianist is too full of himself, obnoxiously full of himself. Listen to Perahia's recording of the same- the sound is all that matters.

  • Some of it is put on for the camera. Everybody gets a little different when theres a camera around. Also, a lot of famous musicians have an ego, they all just express that ego differently. And being egotistical about ones work doesnt make it any less masterful or ingenious. I for one couldn't give less of a damn about Perahia's Bach. It has some good points but in overall execution he falls short of Fray, and DEFINITELY falls short of Gould. Fray is a bit derivative of Gould but who cares.

  • I think to be good you have to play with a bit a ego. When you hear someone great play, it doesn't sound like they are 2nd guessing. I mean when you listen to the greats they all play with cocky attitude, and they sound like they think their way is the only way to play... however, you can usually find other recordings of them playing it very different. I would also say this particular player is very young and has quite a "stage face" which is another reason he is well known. Just my thought.

  • quelle fraîcheur dans l'interprétation ! enfin Bach revivifié ... merci

  • He achieves incredible musicality and articulation, not just by playing each note cleanly, but by groupings, crescendo and decresc, and a rock-steady tempo. Really really good! Thanks EMI for posting these!

  • David, through no loss of accuracy and definition, brings a playfull ,sensual spirit that casts feelings I've yet to have heard emerge from Bach. He also engages the orchestra in a manner that makes it an active contributor to this. Bach is transformed in his hands from the usual master mathematician to an inquisitive physicist, for whom pattern, distinction and accuracy are a means to the end of curious exploration and free emotional involvement. Fantastic.

  • I could watch this video over and over..

it is enjoyable, to watch such a gifted

pianist at work! David Fray is wonderful!

  • i like it better than gould - more joy and humour - the orchestra is fantastic

  • Superbe pianiste !

  • J.S. Bach - Keyboard Concerto in A BWV1055 - Allegro

  • Funtastich! Vas ein masterwerk!

  • Finally! Someone playing Bach with some life in it! These compositions are thoughts and feelings from a brain that turned to dust hundreds of years ago but Fray brings them new life and meaning with his youthful passion and intensity. Bravo!

  • WOW! Move over, Glenn Gould! What a highly charged muscian to take the place of my beloved and departed Glenn Gould, This youngster is nothing short of terrific. May he prosper. What fun this clip is!!

    Marty Kollmorgen

  • amazing playing....

  • Great pianist though. Undeniable

  • He can turn the page without looking at it :D :D :D =)

  • Ce jeune virtuose me rappelle étonnement Glenn Gould !
