I like the growling vocals. I actually prefer that to the whiny clean vocals. Very few bands make clean vocals work. I like ISIS but the clean vocals only work in a few of their songs. I will say that some bands use growling as more of a crutch than a tool, I personally don't think ISIS does. Musically, ISIS ranges from engrossing and spiritual to redundant and boring. All the same we need more bands like ISIS and that is my opinion.

Isis did exactly what a band should do-take from their influences without stealing and gaining their own unique sound, and they knew to call it quits when they felt it was right. To say Isis sounds like Tool/Alice in Chains is purely ignorant, and just shows that DuralastTurbo is just trying to stir up fans. Not liking the vocals is one thing-accusing the band of ripping people off is quite another. I can assure you that Isis accomplished more in their timespan than you have in your life.
This band should be lionized for their ingenuity, not mocked with slanderous accusations of musical theft.
Anyone who saw them live (As I did) will tell you that there is nothing that is not completely unique to them, and although nothing musical is truly unique nowadays, I dare say Isis is as close as you can get (in terms of metal). For heaven's sake, they practically created Post-Metal. Respect is due.

@DuralastTurbo personally, I do not see any significant similarity between Isis and Alice In Chains, other than the occasional vocal tic in Aaron's clean vocals, but it is impossible to deny the strong tool influence on this band. That being said I don't think that by any metric Isis can be deem derivative, as their styles branch off from one another beyond the basic foundation of wanting to metal beyond neaderthalic posturing. Isis is far more minimal, relying heavily on the repetitious grooves

I like the growling vocals. I actually prefer that to the whiny clean vocals. Very few bands make clean vocals work. I like ISIS but the clean vocals only work in a few of their songs. I will say that some bands use growling as more of a crutch than a tool, I personally don't think ISIS does. Musically, ISIS ranges from engrossing and spiritual to redundant and boring. All the same we need more bands like ISIS and that is my opinion.
Oh and fuck Che Guevara. Gotta get my troll on.

Isis did exactly what a band should do-take from their influences without stealing and gaining their own unique sound, and they knew to call it quits when they felt it was right. To say Isis sounds like Tool/Alice in Chains is purely ignorant, and just shows that DuralastTurbo is just trying to stir up fans. Not liking the vocals is one thing-accusing the band of ripping people off is quite another. I can assure you that Isis accomplished more in their timespan than you have in your life.

This band should be lionized for their ingenuity, not mocked with slanderous accusations of musical theft.
Anyone who saw them live (As I did) will tell you that there is nothing that is not completely unique to them, and although nothing musical is truly unique nowadays, I dare say Isis is as close as you can get (in terms of metal). For heaven's sake, they practically created Post-Metal. Respect is due.
I only read the comments because I love seeing "Isis" written. Makes me happy to see :)

@DuralastTurbo personally, I do not see any significant similarity between Isis and Alice In Chains, other than the occasional vocal tic in Aaron's clean vocals, but it is impossible to deny the strong tool influence on this band. That being said I don't think that by any metric Isis can be deem derivative, as their styles branch off from one another beyond the basic foundation of wanting to metal beyond neaderthalic posturing. Isis is far more minimal, relying heavily on the repetitious grooves
