Finnish Kven kings gave birth to both Sweden and Russia. The quite recent Rurikid DNA test fully supports what the Norse sagas and other medieval accounts reveal:
Based on medieval sources, the ruling families of England, France, Iceland, Ireland, Normandy, Norway, the Orkney Islands, Russia, Scotland and Sweden - among many others - descended from the Finnish kings of Kvenland and Finland.
The Kalevala is badass! I love Finnish mythology more than even the more well-known mythology (Greek, Norse, Egyptian) and the stories in the Kalevala are so good, considering they were only told by word of mouth for hundreds of years! Finland is such an awesome country and the people living there are so interesting... I really want to move there some day!
I am of pure finnish blood line, though born in Canada, I feel more like a Finn. I love
all the best of everthing and am an amazing artist in voice and art, writing and
dance, and fixing things, even though I am in my senior years.I love animals and nature so much, that it pains me to know that Finland has animal farms to sell fur to Europe. I wish Finland was #1 country in animal welfare, as well as health and education then would be best in the world.
@GDW311 There is a National Geographic special that covers that exact topic. Portions of it have been uploaded on YT. The YT version is dubbed over in Greek, but you can still make out some of the English words.

@GDW311 Yea and gandalf were inspired by finnish "god" väinämöinen from kalevala.
"Tolkien first read William Forsell Kirby's translation of the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala, while attending St. Edward's School. He described its character of Väinämöinen as one of his influences for Gandalf the Grey."
Hieno video Kalevalasta. X3
@vivalabra Hi vivalabra, it's "Sammon taonta" (1893) painted by Akseli Gallén-Kallela. It's presentating the moment when Ilmarinen the blacksmith is creating Sampo.
@SwordOfLemminkainen Hello :D can you tell me some traditional finish musicians,or some kalevala related melodies or anything that has to do with "kantele" performed music?i would love to know
@0Psithiros You could try anything with the band 'Loituma' - they have lot's of kantele and Kalevala based songs. Put these in your YouTube search box for a start:

i had a homework abt KALEVALA n i understood nothing :D
nellysergeeva 3 months ago
Well, basicly it is a tale of old hag and old man fighting against each other while the younger ones have some drama between them.
Everything results to war and some murders.
In the end, old man gets the young girl whitch kills her self since she don't want the old man.
Somewhere in there, one mother goes to the underworld to find his dead boy. Early necromancer i guess =D

Beautiful, beautiful... and the finnish language is so beautiful, interesting and
powerful. I have to respect the finnish people for their unique characteristics, like
their love of nature, strength, cleanliness, honesty, and genuineness.
