@1edrakel I'm not really a fan of DV camera's. I love my good ole DSLR's. SO far my canon 60D has treated me pretty well. Thanks for the advice though. :)
For DSLR I am 100% Canon but I am unsure of what is available out there in movie equipment. I know that you pay a hefty price for the Sony name every time I look at their equipment regardless what it is. It might be around the same price as their competitors but it will be lacking in features or it will be feature rich and cost mega dollars more than from the others.
@GhostOfACPast Canon is really the way to go for indie filmmakers. Once you get some change in your pocket then we can spend a lot of money on film cameras like RED.
@CharlesHeureaux Well, if you have a quarter of a million dollars to spend I doubt Canon would be what you would purchase though Canon optics (the white lenses for the DSLR) can cost close to a hundred grand new for their fastest largest pro (white) DSLR lenses.
For Video, the Panasonic GH2 is the best choice. Google "Philip Bloom /gh2" to get his thoughts on this camera

Nikon D300s is awesome. Own it. Wonderful images and you can find older lenses to fit it that are more durable and cheap.
