I remember having Dr Hooks Greatest Hits on 8-track as a kid, and playing it on my bright orange Radio Shack portable 8-track player. This was one of my favorites from that tape. I have since replaced it with vinyl. :)
This is dedicated to My family!!! We actually choregraphed this song when we wre younger! We just recently lost our mother but she went to many concerts and had a goooooood time! Thank you for many years of happiness and memories as a child!!!!!
I too remember this song from my childhood. I've looked for for this song for YEARS! This song reminds me of happy memories of my mom when she was young. R.I.P. Kathy Garrett. Thanks for posting it on YouTube!!!
My opinion, Dennis Locorrrier's unique voice and talent is second to none, and that includes Elvis and Sinatra. Please spend some time listening to him on YouTube, and you will see what I am saying. I'm not talking about charisma or his stage presence or name recognition. But his beautiful voice and delivery. Dennis never misses a word or a note. Perfection.
what makes dr. hook stand out to all the others? I LOVE!!! the humor in the band, it always get's me and my mates bursting in laughs! Best band ever :D
I remember when we went on vacation my parents always played the best of DR. HOOK... I was like 6 back then I still now all the lyrics and still laugh at the stupid stuff what they do!!! you gotta love these old funny cranks!
Great voice. Don't send fan mail. I did, and Den's answer was very rude. Made me want to cry to realize that the spirit of the person didn’t match the lovely voice. I can only guess that the reason he lives in the U.K. is because he has alienated the whole North American continent. It is a pity; with his talent, he should be on top of the charts. My respect for the rest of the band went up about 100 notches, since they had to tolerate him for 15 years.
THEE greatest bands of the 70's/80's....my all time favorite, even today. Got a tat of the hook on my ankle in honor of them. Seen 3 times...LOVE me some Ray & Dennis...WOOT WOOT ;-)
@havfruen72 I saw Nazareth back in the early 70's and even though I was already a fan, I was completely blown away by their stage presence...Back when rock WAS rock !!!
I got married in 1983 and my husband and I were out partying one night and the only 8-track tape we had with us was the one that had this song on it. I never forgot that night or this song and am so happy to see it on YouTube. Does anybody know what album it's on?
man i love dr hook, they are way underrated. Just listen to a few songs and you'll see they can fuckin jam. rough guitars(nothing wrong with rough), the vocals are perfect in nearly every song. I've been listenin to dr hook all my life. My step dad was a bigtime pot head and listened to these guys all the time. I'm fucked up like a lab rat right now and jammin with this tune. ahhh family traditions. i guess my son will be next. He will be next
@adalstef it's the sound of cassette if you ask me. it would get a 'tinny' thinned out sound while vinyl has more of a staticky, crackle to it. But doesn't lose the bottom end.

Has anyone else noticed how beautifully prophetic the pictures for 0:10-0:25 were? The real Tiger Woods should have listened to Dr. Hook's advice...
