  • I Know right blockbuster is next my local blockbuster shuted down on monday WTF? ECONOMY IS GOING TO FALL APART A BUNCH OF STORES MIGHT BE GOING OUT OF BUSINESS!

  • i at least return the movies and they still charged me fo late fees after they went out of business .

  • @argonblast

Those were fake. Do not pay any money.

  • CIRCUIT CITY got hit bad by best buy and walmart for selling electronics Circuit City hit rock bottom(Out of business)and never coming back only the website is a online store.

  • Blockbuster is going to be next... you know why? because netflix and redbox kick out Hollywood video.Blockbuster is the best but they havent completely shut down all their stores in the USA.

  • @burnout9212

Blockbuster is the number two DVD rental service. It has millions of subscribers just like Netflix. Blockbuster's parent company is Dish Network (a highly lucrative TV provider). Therefore, their stores will not close until Dish decides they don't want them anymore. According to some sources, the stores still make up 30% of Blockbuster profits.

Redbox doesn't have many movies, so the local Blockbuster is still better. the 3 blockbusters in my city all closed. :(

  • After Hollywood When Cicadas Video shut down I had to switch to blockbuster (which sucked because they didn't have nearly as many games) but then about 3 months after I switched the one near me closes down and now I can't rent games from anywhere now. Ugh. -_-

  • @awesomekid9911

I recommend Gamefly. It's a by-mail rental service. They offer all games on 360/PS3/Wii/PS2, and most games on GC/PSP/PS Vita/Xbox.

It's much better than Blockbuster ever was.

  • I'm from the UK and I'm STUNNED our BlockBuster is still even open. Whatever time you go in there it's a ghost town. Such a shame to think of all the employees who will be out of work but that's competition for you!

  • @DaviDeXtA

Blockbuster's UK locations have a special place in the company's heart. To close them would be to end Blockbuster's international name.

  • Then that went out of business and a Hollywood opened up there and that went out of business, then a Super Walmart opened up there, that went out of business, finally a McDonalds opened up there and then that went out of business. Then nothing else opened there, even the nothing else went out of business, went out of business, went out of business.

  • @brettfoshager

Walmarts don't go out of business. Especially a Super Walmart. Walmart KNOWS where to place their stores to maximize profit.

  • HV wouldn't go out so soon if their customer service was superior and many times dishonest about over charging. I once pick up a Xbox360 game and was for $5, they clerk said it was $25, so I took him over to the sign on the shelf, he still did not give me price. It was not my fault, that their computer did not change the price correctly. I could've complaint to the state consumer board, but why they are weak and trying to fool customers to pay more, I say good-bye & stop rip ppl off.

  • man I had a blockbuster up the street from my house and it was always a treat to go and get a movie for a few dollars. then it closed and a Chepotle opend were it was [ not a total loss :) ]

  • damn i loved this tore now i hav to use gamefly

  • It sucks ours is closing...but at least they're selling their core collection! :D

  • ...and don't use the phrase, "Most Biggest"...you should use, "More Bigger".

  • Hollywood Video tried to charge me for a "stolen video"...not a lost video but accused me of stealing it. I had to make them check in every movie in front of me after that. I told them they suck and they will be going out of business. Good example of a business with arrogant asshole managers. How many people do you have to piss of before you lose a billion dollars?

  • @winemethendineme69me Yeah, I'm sure that incidents like yours are the reason that this company is closing. Technology and changing nature of retailing has NOTHING to do with it, huh? How many people DID try to rip them - and other retailers - off? Quite a large number across the country, I'm sure. You're an asshole!

  • @24601guy You must have been a Hollywood Video manager you stupid prick! I was saying that I was a good customer and treated poorly. Not only did they not keep up with technology and refining their business plan they had poor customer service. But I am probably casting pearls before swine (in case you did not get that last statement - you are swine).

  • @winemethendineme69me Just a well informed observation here, Sparky. If the attitude displayed here in the world of YouTube is any indication, I think we all can guess why you MIGHT have been treated poorly (highly suspect though.) We've all stood behind assclowns like you in a store watching you hold up everything with rants and raves that basically revolve around something stupid that YOU did, not the poor guy behind the counter. Please do us all a favor and take a pill and lie down, OK?

  • Hollywood Video tried to charge me for a "stolen video"...not a lost video but accused me of stealing it. I had to make them check in every movie in front of me after that. • It is Movie Gallery now. And all American stores are closing. And Canadian stores are now being closed.

  • damn dats crazy so whats goin happen to gamecrazy dats the spot fuck game stop lol

  • @chibangerbabyboy Is this an attempt at speaking English?

  • this is bs there closin the 1 in my town in nh west leb fuckin bullshit holly wood vid i hope u go outta biss BASTARDS

  • They closing 250 stores. I went to one north of Los Angeles last night. They had fixtures for sale, and many DVDs on sale(no more rentals). The cheapest I found: used DVDs 3 for $10. The manager said the store would close by end of March, the sale prices will drop to 5 DVDs for $10. Sad the store employees lost their jobs on short notice, but let's face it: it's a McJob & most of them don't know s.h.i.t. about movies.

I mourn the death of cinema as we knew it. Fukkit!!

  • the internet and sites like YouTube are making an impact as well. Redbox and Netflix do a good deal of business too.

  • Good Catholic Illuminati propoganda video stores are closing. I hope Hollywood goes bankrupt with all the globalist Marxist movie actors that make a mint brainwashing Americans.

  • they were in trouble before the crash i think, the store near me closed about 2 or 3 years ago, before the crash. They charge too much for videos and can't compete with changing times

  • if your going to say the amount of stores closing get it right. I work at the corp office and all news feed shows the exact amount and you seem to be a couple hundred over the amount!

but not like i care because i even saw it coming and i have worked there for 2 years

  • I use netflix and i can watch as many movies online as i want. plus get 1 dvd at a time sent to my house & return get another fast for $10 month. good deal.

  • I'm not saying its a good thing they are closing, I'm saying its just bound to happen. Thats why I said I hate to see any business fail. Trust me..I know ALL TOO WELL ABOUT LOSING JOBS.....The economy is shit and its gonna be another corporation out of business...just like Linens & Things, Circuit City, Sharper Image to name a few. Things re hard and gonna get harder it seems...this economy fucking sucks !!

  • blockbuster is next...think about it...Netflix does the same without the overhead of multiple locations and employees....OVERHEAD WILL KILL YA !!! People can buy movies on demand on their televisions too....makes no sense to stay in business....Hate to see any business fail, but the reality is, they had a great run....

  • All of our blockbusters have already closed. It's definitely gonna happen.

  • @TheNRA4ever Yeah your right I mean just like what Itunes, napster and other did to Sam Goody, Towers, The warehouse when you could download musics instead of buying CD. People now can rent movie online and go to redbox and rent movie for $1\day and no late fee.

Im surprised that Gamestop is not suffering from Gamefly.

  • @TheNRA4ever what about the millions of people who don't order online and television etc etc.

  • @mini14tx1 I would have to agree. I have been a movie collector for years. There is a decline in customers from previous years. And I am asked often why I don't just download my movies, or other means. Still a buyer of the disc, Jo

  • never went thier BlockBuster is where i go still sucks thier clossin

  • Hoolywood video fucking blows, there is a redbox right next to the one here and I would rather walk up to it and get a free dvd using promo codes or even pay for it if i didn't have one just as not to deal with the idiots they hire at that store.

  • Is this due to the economic situation or is it due to more and more people downloading their movies?

  • I think netflix and redbox killed holywood video and blockbuster where i live i think all blockbusters closed
