It's from Danny Phantom season 1, episode 11 "Fanning the Flames," first aired October 1, 2004. And it is sung by Tara Strong, the same woman who voiced Ember in the episode.

Ember was always my favourite female character on the show. "Fanning the Flames" was the second DP-episode I ever saw, and dear GOD was I hyped. I don't remember how often I watched it. Moreover, I think it was Ember that kept me watching DP, and I haven't regretted it ever since.

Also, there is so much subtlety to her character! You practially don't know anything about her past, but the song ... it leaves a lot of room for theories. Quiet dramatic, yet awesome theories.

Geez!!! Went from a simple short summarize story into a full blown Fanfic. LOL!!!

But that's the idea for a story I could see them going with if this were Anime. It's really left up to the viewer to decide how each ghost met their end and who they were before.  Makes it interesting I think.

Thank you very much:) Just kinda flowed out there into a long winded story arc. Like I said, assuming were talking anime I would of written the storyboard almost word for word. This would be too harsh for an American cartoon angled at young teens and kids. I just wouldn't want a lame ass story where she dated some doushe in highschool for 2 weeks, they broke up and she killed herself. The story has to be hardcore to turn her into a ghost.

Nowhere:) Im not a fanfiction writer, I was just bored at the moment and just went off there using the lyrics to write a background story for her. Wiki says the lyrics in her song are about how she dies but it's still pretty obscure. Bascially a scorned lover who died in a fire is what we know. I just wrote what I believed it would take to make a ghost. My belief is your life has to be terrible or you must die a horrible death to will becoing a ghost.

Her last living thoughts were a mixture of betrayal, fear, hatred and how she would never become what she wanted to be, a musician. Her bitterness, depression, sadness, and hatred manifested her soul into a ghost that has blue flames for hair, decked out in a black leather punk rocker outfit and she carries an enchanted/cursed manifistation of the guitar her ex boyfriend gave her before leaving.

In her intoxicated state she didn't realize she had spilled some of the fluid on her clothing and as she threw a lighter into the bathtub, it went up in a ball of flame and set herself on fire. Quickly the entire bathroom was engulfed and the fire spread quickly through the apartment. Unable to find an exit in her state of mind Amber was doomed to burn alive as the apartement burned to the point of crumbling to the ground.

The article hyped the band as up and comers and were into production of their first album. This devastated Amber and pushed her depression over the edge. That night, in the midst of a drunken cocaine induced binge. Amber went into a blind rage and began smashing every thing in the rundown apartment with her now ex boyfriends guitar. She then gathered up some of his articles of clothing and the guitar, threw them into the bathtub doused the items with lighter fluid.

Amber scraped together enough funds by playing gigs at local clubs and was able to afford dingy cramped tenament housing. The other bit of money she spent on alchohol. The downward spiral continued into November as Amber began using substances that were rampant in clubs of the 80s. Then on a cold December afternoon Amber came accross a newsletter at one of the local clubs with an article about her old band, HER boyfriends band.

The band left the following morning, her boyfriend even left his old guitar with her as a memento, and Amber waited behind for the good news. 2 weeks past and she never received the call she was waiting for. As the weeks past Amber began to sink into a deep depression, feeling she had been betrayed once again. First by her father after her mother died then by a boy who convinced her for the past year she would become what she always wanted to be, a rockstar.

A pivotal moment of fate, as the record company only sent 5 two way tickets for her boyfriend and the rest of the band and the combined group did not have enough money on them to even cover a one way flight for her. Amber and her boyfriend relented and he assured her that he would have her in LA by the end of the week once the company was convinced of the bands talent. The night before the flight Amber, finally feeling she could trust someone , surrendered her last bit of innocence.

In 1985 A love interest was born out of her friendship with a lead singer of one band (4 years her senior) and he promised that he would be famous someday and bring her with him to Los Angeles and be the next big thing. September 1986. Her boyfriend gets a call from a record label in LA that they liked the demo and would like the band to fly out for a session. They were thrilled that their ship had finally come in.

Amber would steal for food or pickpocket in a crowd to get by, then around the age of 13 she started to take an interest in the hard rock/punk music scene of Los Angeles and decided that this is what she would do with her life. Amber would hang around the local clubs and music lounges, making friends rather easily with some of the struggling bands who she shared a kindred spirit with. Her new friends helped tutor her in the basics of guitar and for a little while she was happy.

Ember definately had the most interesting character background of the "rouge gallery". I think next to her Desiree was the only other ghost who we got a backstory on. Both were sad bitter ends but Desiree was more of a one hit wonder with her special powers that would always screw her over in the end. Not being able to withstand granting any wish, what the hell is the purpose of THAT power???
