  • this is beautiful,, sorry chloe agnew is absolutely gorgeous though x

  • Brilliant - free Scotland 2014

  • shes from ireland

  • Scrum - caledonia.

    Wonderful version of this song!!

  • I must say Lisa is my favorite. Tho I love them all. wonderful Music.

  • It looks like Renee O'Connor. Another thing, she sings beautiful. I really liked the song, I'm from Chile. Sorry for my English.

  • brill mate

  • I like both versions 0 _o

I like this one better, but there's nothing wrong with Celtic Thunder. Is Celtic Woman better? Hands down IMO. Does Celtic Thunder suck though? No.

  • @JohnPhilipSousa519 ...I agree. As for swearing in the form of a directed insult, or otherwise, is always indicative of childish behavior.

  • @natemctots ...agreed :)

  • I wish the PHL has a song like this, poignant yet not overly dramatic, nationalistic but global just the same.

  • i love that this is celtic women singing about celtic music please remember celtic is NOT just Irish but Scottish too and as a Scottish/Celtic woman i believe it important to make this point

  • Beautiful voice .

  • I love the woman at 0:44 who turns to her husband and starts singing to him. That's such a sweet moment :)

  • Can someone explain to me what Caledonia is? Can't find it anywhere..

  • @BrodyNomad - Typically a reference to Scotland.

  • @BrodyNomad Caledonia is a name of Latin origin, meaning "the Scottish highlands", referred to the lands of the people conquered by the Roman general Agricola around 80 AD. The Caledonian Canal runs through Northern Scotland, while New Calenonia consists of a group of tiny islands in the South Pacific. Caledonia is now used as a poetic name for all of Scotland.

  • amazing!!! my Asawari will sing like this one day

  • @TripBoomLikeThat Cheers mate

  • @tmvledzep ...Sigh, another child. Swearing is only for kids, those with no command of the English language, and shows a lack of intelligence, little one. You must of had to look up pretentious. Enjoy your pathetic existence trolling you tube comments. Bye bye son.

  • @blotmaster1 Well said - both comments!

  • @blotmaster1 While I agree that the other poster should not have swore in their reply to you, I have to say, calling someone who holds an opinion which differs from your own a "fool" isn't much better. I don't know if "pretentious" is the right description for that, but "elitist snob" certainly is. You must fancy yourself a paragon of objective thought when it comes to music.

And for the record, I am a college-educated 29-year old man who loves both Celtic Thunder and Celtic Woman.

  • Dolores Keane does the best version of this song in my book but Paolo Nutini does a good job too!!!

  • Caledonia all the way <3

    Lisa has an angelic voice

  • The one and only: Lisa Kelly!

  • How can some of you fools dare compare Celtic Thunder's version to this??? This lady has the voice of an angel. I surmise some ears never do mature. 3 thumbs up for this version.

  • @blotmaster1 because god forbid someone have a different opinion than yours right? pretentious asshat...

  • @blotmaster1 Can we just accept that both Celtic Thunder (which includes all of the singers) and Lisa are incredibly talented and deserve much praise for their respective renditions? I think both are fantastic and there are some parts of each that set them apart from the other. But to say that anyone who likes the Celtic Thunder version more is a fool is going a bit too far. Also, swearing does not indicate childish behavior.

  • @blotmaster1 I agree, they are to different to compare. coming from a woman's mouth, it means so much more than coming from a man's mouth.

  • As sweet as these ladies sing this, and Celtic Thunder does indeed do an admirable job, I think Dougie Maclean (who wrote this song) has the definitive version. If you like Celtic ensembles, check out the High Kings.

  • Christ, this schmaltzy Yank pish fair gie's me the boke!

  • Another band (Irish, too! :) is Celtic Thunder. They do an amazing version of this lovely song :D

  • 270 People couldn't find Caledonia

  • great Song *_*

  • bevs mum died this is for you bev xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • i want to cry so much xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Oh Gott, ich danke dir für die celtic Woman, die musik ist einfach nur magisch

  • this is ok but celtic thunder's is way better

  • Nice but I prefer..Celtic Thunder's :)

  • Absolutely beautiful. I love this song and get voice. She will be missed on the "Believe" tour this year.

  • I really wanna see her in concert... wonder if she ever tours to the US... mainly KY

  • @xKittenWilyKitx They have a website that lists tour dates, "CelticWoman . com". Rupp Arena and Freedom Hall are two of the venues they play here in KY.

The singer in this video, Lisa Kelly, will be on maternity leave for this years tour, so you may have to wait till next year to see her.

  • @xKittenWilyKitx March,11,Radio City Music Hall.New York. Combine it with a vacation to the Big Apple.

  • @allisonforforsned lol yeah evidentily

  • @nakedBison69 ouch

  • @yermaww94 looks like haters gonna hate! LOL (in reference to nakedbison69)

  • She has got a fantastic voice! Wonderful!!

  • The choice for me is between listening to beautiful music and listening to beautiful music being sung by beautiful women... Idk about you but for me the choice is clear. ; )

  • @allisonforfornsed I love this song but I agree; over comercialised cheese

  • yermaww94 is overcommercialized cheese

  • i've never been to caledonia, so why am i tearing up with a longing in my heart?...

such i the power of music

  • @WatersDancing its such a beautiful song, raw emotion comes through i love it :)

  • Frankly I think Celtic Woman is embarassing. A bunch of pretty women parading around in glittery prom dresses acting cheesy...all of them have the same boring lackluster singing voices. Just my opinion, don't spaz. It's really like one big prom dress party. It's all just set up way too cheesy for me really.

  • @allisonforfornsed Yeah, I kind of agree with you :-/ There's so much talent, but the production seems very packaged and devoid of any emotion or passion. I love this song and I love Lisa Kelly, but this just doesn't do either of them justice somehow

  • @allisonforfornsed You have no idea what you are talking about.

I'm bullied a lot for liking the music that I like. You don't have to listen to them if you don't like them!

  • @1729GennyBrigid your bullied over your music choices? screw them, listen to what you want when you want :) i get laughed at for my taste in music as well lol :)

  • @1729GennyBrigid I ain't gonna bully ya.

  • allisonforfornsed is a bully who is so jealous of pretty women

  • @nakedBison69...she also doesn't know anything about Celtic history, after all she was born and raised in the U.S. and is probably no older than 20..She has no clue what Celtic is...

  • @coolrogue5827 I am 28 years old. I have studied Celtic history and Celtic pre-history for years. If you draw all of your knowledge about "Celtic" from stuff like Celtic women, then you obviously wouldn't see the lack in their shows.

  • @coolrogue5827 by the way, as an addendum to the comment I made just a minute ago, I am also college-educated.

  • @nakedBison69 Who the fuck are you anyway? You sound like a broken record. I haven't bullied anybody, I've only defended myself against those who attacked me for expressing MY opinion about "Celtic Woman." And for the record, with reference to coolrogue5827's comment, I am 28 years old, college educated, and I have studied Celtic history and pre-history for many years. I also studied vocal music, and I can tell you objectively that these women do nothing but carry a tune.

  • @nakedBison69 No she isn't. She was very nice to me and she just has her own view on this group. Let her have her opinion.

  • @allisonforfornsed Sorry, I messed up my first comment a bit. What I meant was that you don't have to listen to them or like them, but don't insult them. My friends listen to artists that I don't like, but I don't insult the artists they listen to. And I do know a ton about Celtic history, and these women have much more talent than you said, for one they can do really difficult harmonies and stuff, but whatever. You're allowed to have your opinion.

  • @1729GennyBrigid No offense, but harmonies are only difficult to those who don't sing. (with skill.) Singing talent is dime-a-dozen, I was born with it and sang opera in college. Anyone "has an ear" so to speak can harmonize just fine.

  • @allisonforfornsed Once again, we'll just agree to disagree. Thank you for not being rude about this. I don't care that you don't like this group, because if everyone was the same, the world would be a really boring place!

  • @1729GennyBrigid Thanks, you're a really nice a person. I appreciate it. I wish you well.

  • @allisonforfornsed Thanks! And by the way, I think it's really cool that you sing opera. Opera is under appreciated. It is a beautiful form of singing. :)

  • @1729GennyBrigid Thank you dear. yes, opera is great. I only quit studying it in college because I felt that where I live, there isn't much job opportunity with it. (most people around here who get music degrees simply become highschool band and choir directors. LOL)

  • @allisonforfornsed Let's just agree to disagree. Let me tell you, having the discussion I had with you was nice because you actually respected my taste in music. I don't get that very often, so thank you for that! :)

  • @1729GennyBrigid As I said, I wouldn't bully you. However, you clearly have no idea about the two-thousand+ years of Celtic tribal history that motivates my comment. you are also probably way to young to understand what all else it is that makes the Celtic Woman show shallow. Also, I studied vocal music for two years at a college. Most of these women don't employ any vocal skill other than carrying a tune.

  • @allisonforfornsed everyone has different interests in music, i think this music is beautiful, and the girls are able to sing in their natural voices, rather than use their training to sing. But each to their own i suppose

  • @Kirstieefly I can understand how someone could enjoy pretty women in pretty dresses singing pretty music. I guess I just have a problem with the whole, "I'm so pretty. see I'm wearing my pretty prom dress. Watch me sing pretty songs. This is what Celtic is about." thing. LOL

  • @allisonforfornsed can see where you're comin from about pretty dresses and pretty songs and that, but i think sometimes the message behind the song is potrayed (cant spell) more thru the song itself, and anything else would take away from it :) well thats my thought, not everyone's cup of tea tho, as i said each to their own, and you took the time to tell your opinion, knowing not everyone would agree, so fair play :)

  • allisonforfornsed is jealous of pretty women

  • @nakedBison69 that's ridiculous. you must be ten years old. Honestly, If you read my comment to kirstieefly, I indicated that I have a problem with such a shallow and substanceless representation of Celtic heritage. But then again, from a look at your comment, you probably don't understand anything that deep.

  • allisonforfornsed is jealous and shallow, without substance. then again, allisonforfornsed understands nothing at all, except how to be jealous of pretty women

  • @allisonforfornsed I must say I disagree. I don't love cheesy stuff as well, but I'm in love with this women.

IMMO, they have wonderful voices full of feelings, and Mairead is such a good violin player that I'd give anything to play like her. Their songs made me cry and smile. But after all, This is just my opinion.

  • @TheKiri997 Orla Fallon is in fact one of the most gorgeous women I have ever seen in my life.

  • She so lovely

  • Why do they sing it in Ireland? Caledonia is Scotland, isn't it?

  • @visavillem You can't sing songs written in other countries where you live? That's depressing.

  • brings a tear to my eye everytime i hear this

  • Yeah this is a beautiful song. Lisa singing it just makes it all that much better.

  • WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE clarkkent163000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO reason to start cusing!!

  • @Phoenix684 From what I've read she isn't going anywhere. She's just taking 2012 off to have her baby just as she did the last time.

  • @TripBoomLikeThat: A whole year seems like leaving for me! She's my #1 girl and now I don't even want to go to the concert next year. Lisa K is my goddess :P

  • With all the dvd's and cd's from Celtic Woman out, Lisa still steals my heart with this one. Can't decide between 'The Voice' or this as my favorite Lisa-solo.

  • You know what? I've heard this song once six years ago, in a language inmersion program trip to Ireland (I'm from Spain). It has been playing in my head since then, and now that I decide to actually listen again to it, I just can't help but getting emotional.

  • 258 idiots or people with no pride in their own country and jusy jealous of ours.

  • I don't know whether Lisa is of Celtic, Anglo-Saxon or Normand descent and quite frankly I could not care less. Judging from her voice she is of Angel descent.

  • Such a beautiful song <3 I love the Scottish pride and just how beautiful Scotland is <3

  • @TheBBop1992 Spot on, a beautiful country with with warm and friendly people.

  • @rob39uk A great piece of writing. You should remember the Scots Gaels and Irish Gaels are one and the same people. ALBA ABÚ, ÉIRE ABÚ, NA GAEIL ABÚ.

  • Comment removed

  • @rob39uk Well you're an absolute genius aren't you.
