@dirtynuke Yeah, but it's still good. I can see your point though. Eno, brought a little edge musically and style wise. This is a landmark song, I believe. 1972 the birth of new wave. Of course long before Elvis Costello's appearance on Saturday Night Live 1978.
I agree with Shan - 39 - that's thrity nine years Virginia Plain has been on vinyl! That's also 20 plus 40 for any band member!. Simply the best. Was this at the Apollo in NYC?
@marked1959 She's a freelance musician named Julia Thornton. In addition to percussion instruments, she also plays the piano but specializes in the harp. She has worked with other bands recently, and you can see her perform on the live version of Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds.
thanks for making virginia plain i can not believe that people talk about medium things like the beatles haha but they also think that there is a god i mean t to say it s not important to be the most popular band no the sound of this is genius creation xxx
Absolutely superb in almost every respect. Roxy were and still are in my top five bands of all time. However, I dare to make a couple of minor criticisms. They played this at far too fast a pace, trying to cram in too many songs into a gig, at the expense of quality. Also I agree with the comment about there being too many 'extras' - backing vocals etc.
sanitized, kareoke version of a classic...unbearable to me..I wish they would dump all the unnessasary shit...extra guitarist, backup singers extra keys, etc...Destroys the Roxy edge!...The only tracks that were really great from these gigs was Chance Meeting, Ladytron and F.Y.P.....Cant blame Eno for not wanting anything to do with this!

Some girl shaking her head is on the keyboard. You can barely see her. She is not in the most desirable position. The comparison with Eno on this track is unavoidable. She is just reproducing the sound he invented 36 years earlier...

Brilliant version of the song. Is anyone else picking up on the Bryan Ferry-Mitt Romney separated at birth thing?

I can think of very, very few bands that sound this excited to play songs they've been playing for 30+ years. Roxy is one of the greatest bands ever!

Well, there is not much bands that made exciting songs
