i.cant.believe.i.just.watch.all.those.pathetic.argument.videos... these arguments were soooo pathetic, even for a joke, eople might just take it seriously enough to not get a kindle...grrrr
These videos are hilarious!! ... but totally ridiculous of course. I love books and have like, a million of them but if i could carry them all around with me all the time it would be soooo much better. I'm hoping to get a Kindle for Christmas and if anything, this video has made me want one more!! =]
Dude these are not funny, they're as retarded as hell. Now with the kindle 3 (this is kindle 2) the reading experience is amazing. They never give the kindle a chance, they're just like "oh book is better" I bet their entire store can be stored on a kindle. Its an amazing piece of technology.
Even though not every book is out for the Kindle yet, one day it will be. I think the use of Kindles and other e-reading devices with cut down on the trees used to make a standard book, Newsprint, and magazines. If going "green" is our new motto for a better future then we should start living "green". I agree with kandalfsabayon we waste so much money and resources to make magazines and newspapers which once we read them or have no more use for them they just end up being thrown away. Wasteful
Kindle is cool, you have all your books and documents with you. And if you take care of it, in a few years it comes out cheaper than buying new books all the time...
..and some date back to the '40 '50s, do you seriously think that is what happens to the majority of wood harvesting.
damn man don't you understand these are all marketing strategies to sell a product?using the good will of the people is always a nice way to sell a product and makes the corporation that manufactures it look all nice and noble but ultimately it's all about a profit..
besides , if in some apocaliptic scenario a nuke detonates the EMP pulse would fry your kindle.. conclusions?
you never know ;) might happen earlier than expected or never, it was an idle hypotheses improbable but not impossible
anyway everybody is free to do whatever they want, choosing how to spend money is a freedom we still retain in the case of newspaper i might agree but for books i stick to my nutella spoiled chunks of processed wood :), i might want to go green with electricity
however you turn the matter there is no way free of hypocrisy
....uploaded in your mind from the media invasion.
i guess using paper for a book or for art is a noble end to it, we might want to consider washing our asses instead of using a couple of rolls of toilet paper a week (that's a book wood equivalent right there)
besides do you think the production process of the kindles like any other electronics is pollution free, what about fumes and the recycling of the waste you'll build up when u'll drop it and bye bye kindle?
the publishers don't harvest wood in the wild they come from wood growing farms that have fields dedicated to this kind of crop. usually they use poplar plantations.look it up!
this is the usual green nonsense, I'm guessing you are american if that's so think of all the wood used in construction around here, nice lightweight resistant semipermanent material or the poles for electrics or telephonic wiring.
you might want to use a bit of critical sense instead of rebroadcasting the data
I tried to make a kindle of my book, but the fonts don't support one of the characters used. Ever hear of that happening with paper and ink? Worse that happens is the printer has to do a bit extra work, but it's always possible.
@kandalfsabayon Kindles are harder to recycle than trees. That said, it is technically possible to make a copy of my book in print. It is not technically possible to make a copy for kindle until they fix the crappy range of supported characters. No matter how good it might be in other ways, possible always beats impossible.
uh BTW the paper used for books is very limited ask to the target or best buy employees who use half a roll of paper to clean a spill.... The only use I would agree on using digtal formats are text books, not for pleasure :)
Stay human Folks.... when u are free from electronics just enjoy it... we don't NEED machines, machines are tools, not fetish toys... stay human use the smell the touch the feel for texture the simple pleasure of not having to turn something on or check for batteries
@sephirothsinic Yeah stay human and cut down more trees... just to make newspapers which will see the trashcan the next day, just to make crappy magazines which will be on shelves 1 week/month and then deposited in a bin... or...
soooo you´re trying to tell us using a kindle is like burning books? like the censorship evil thingy stuff?

Asking a steampunk author to sign your Kindle seems like a dangerous proposition in the first place

That was actually pretty funny. Maybe instead of robot Armageddon you could have shown the vast forests that will be spared thanks to the Kindle.
